Story
Howdy chums, it’s me, Laith! I am a short, fat Redbone Coonhound mix, who weighs about 55 pounds and I'm about 6-7 years old. Dangit, I’m ready for my forever home. After living in the shelter and in a foster home forever, I declare that it’s high time for me to curl up on my forever couch and chew on some of those tasty forever bones and toys. I’ve come a heck of a long way from my shelter days. My foster mom’s been showing me all kinds of house dog stuff and I’m proud to say that I’m not only house trained, but I’ve got great inside manners. I don’t crate all that well but friend, you don’t even really need to crate me; I mostly like to curl up and sleep while you’re gone. Now, I’ve gotta be honest- if you try and man handle me, I will be growly and grumpy (so please don’t pull me off your couch). However, if you got a treat and some kind words, I’ll do just about anything for you; all this simple hound needs is a little kindness and some bribery. After living in a great foster home with fenced yards and other dogs, I’m confident that I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard and another dog. My favorite things in the world are car rides and playing with other dogs. So if you’re looking for a copilot to keep that passenger seat toasty, buddy, you’re looking at me! A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Laith, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. EJ is a fun, young hound. He needs someone active, with a big outdoor life that will take him on adventures. He is affectionate and loyal to those who show him love. He would prefer to be the only dog as he doesn't like to share. He is not good with cats or other smaller animals or small people. He really wants to be a working dog.   For more info about EJ and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612. May 2, 2024, 11:54 pm

Story
Hey y'all, my name's Brantley. I'm just a good ol'boy looking for my forever home. I came to Augusta Dog Adoptions from a rural shelter with not enough adopters! Thank goodness they were able to get me out of there because my kill date had been set! My foster mom says I'm an easy keeper and that I do better than my half brothers. I don't know what she means. They seem like alright boys to me, so that must mean that I'm above average! I do like to play with them, especially the spunky beagle. I like all company, big dogs, little dogs, but I do not like cats. I've been told I'm very good mannered, I give little kisses on the hand or arm, I keep my crate clean and when given full house privileges I've been a very good guest. I'd love to have some friends to play with and a comfy spot to nap. My foster mom thinks I'd be gentle around young kids but I'm still a little scared of loud noises. I can't say for sure but I think I'm about 5-7 years old and weight about 55 pounds. I do know that I've been through a lot, and with your help, I'll find a family who will make the rest of my life the best of my life! Story
TF? Well, meet Wayne. Wayne came to us when his shelter kill date was set and no one else offered to take him. We also got his friend, Willie and three other hounds from the same shelter at the same time. If you are wondering why TF he had TF stamped on his hips, he was hunting dog. Running deer west of the Blue Ridge is not legal so we don't see many deer dogs in our area. This is also a common way to identify hounds used for hunting fox and coyotes...the letters being the owners initials. Unlike the freeze brands we sometimes see, this is just paint and didn't hurt him. It's long since washed off in the months Wayne has been waiting for an adopter. Wayne is a middle aged hound who is short and stout and has gained a lof of weight with us! He kinda looks like a beagle and barks like one too. Wayne is all kindness and happiness with a love of fine food...or any food. He may be a bit hard of hearing as the scars on his ears hint to chronic, intreated ear infections. But hey, it just makes him a better sleeper. Wayne has learned all kinds of good things in his foster home! He LOVES baby pools, naps and has good manners and we don't know why TF no one wants sweet Wayne! Wayne's adoption fee is reduced to $100. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. Story
ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND. Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when we was not longer wanted to hunting. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house traing and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude. (We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.) A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs!
