Story
Howdy chums, it’s me, Laith! I am a short, fat Redbone Coonhound mix, who weighs about 55 pounds and I'm about 6-7 years old. Dangit, I’m ready for my forever home. After living in the shelter and in a foster home forever, I declare that it’s high time for me to curl up on my forever couch and chew on some of those tasty forever bones and toys. I’ve come a heck of a long way from my shelter days. My foster mom’s been showing me all kinds of house dog stuff and I’m proud to say that I’m not only house trained, but I’ve got great inside manners. I don’t crate all that well but friend, you don’t even really need to crate me; I mostly like to curl up and sleep while you’re gone. Now, I’ve gotta be honest- if you try and man handle me, I will be growly and grumpy (so please don’t pull me off your couch). However, if you got a treat and some kind words, I’ll do just about anything for you; all this simple hound needs is a little kindness and some bribery. After living in a great foster home with fenced yards and other dogs, I’m confident that I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard and another dog. My favorite things in the world are car rides and playing with other dogs. So if you’re looking for a copilot to keep that passenger seat toasty, buddy, you’re looking at me! A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Laith, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Meet Larry the Lovehound — a velvety-eared sweetheart with a heart as big as his wagging tail! 💛🐾 If you’re looking for a dog who will literally be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your adventure pal, Larry is your guy. This handsome hound is happiest curled right up beside his people—he doesn’t just love his humans, he adores them. 🌟 What makes Larry wonderful: Kid Champion: Larry is fantastic with children and loves romping around the yard or exploring outside with them. He’s gentle, playful, and always ready for fun. Adventure Buddy: Woods walk? Yes please! Larry sticks close when off leash and walks nicely on leash, though he’s still learning that passing cars aren’t scary monsters. Cuddle Expert: Whether it’s movie night or a lazy morning, Larry believes there’s always room for one more hound on the couch. 🐕 Larry’s Ideal Home: Larry shines brightest as the only pet in the home, but he can do well with a confident, calm alpha dog who keeps things running smoothly. He came into rescue very underweight, so he can be protective of his food around other dogs—but he’s perfectly polite with his humans at mealtime. Larry is a tender soul who has learned to trust, and now he’s ready to pour all that love into his forever family. If you want a loyal companion with a soft heart, expressive ears, and a whole lot of charm, Larry can’t wait to meet you. 🧡🐶
