Story
EJ is a fun, young hound. He needs someone active, with a big outdoor life that will take him on adventures. He is affectionate and loyal to those who show him love. He would prefer to be the only dog as he doesn't like to share. He is not good with cats or other smaller animals or small people. He really wants to be a working dog.   For more info about EJ and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612. April 26, 2024, 9:56 pm

Bonded duoThese boys just recently lost both their parents; the adult kids dont want them and said they have to go! The kind neighbor has been taking care of them but is on a time crunch before the house is closed down before the sale. She shares that these two boys are absolutely the sweetest things and wants to see them go together. Story
Say hello to happy-go-lucky Waylen! This happy hound boy was brought to us as a stray and is looking for a home to call his own! Waylen is a very talkative pup, and loves to run around the yard to play or sniff. He will need some work on his leash manners as he gets very excited when he is out and about and tends to pull on the leash. He does significantly better when on a harness and would do best walking on that compared to a collar. Waylen is very treat motivated, and very smart and will be excited to learn more with a patient owner! At this time Waylen knows sit, paw with both feet, and down! His favorite toy has been anything that makes noises and that he can chase around the yard! Waylen has been picky with the dogs he befriends and would do better as the only dog in the home or with a calm, non-reactive dog. He is very interested in cats, and may not be the best fit for any feline friends. We would be happy to cat-test Waylen further upon request. This happy boy has done amazing with kids! He is very respectful and gentle with children of all sizes and would not mind having young human friends in his forever home! If you would like to meet Waylen and potentially welcome him into your home, stop by and visit with him today! Waylen is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Availability date: 08/09/2023

Story
Copper was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. Copper is a 3-year-old, Redbone coonhound that currently weighs 53 pounds. He is a very handsome, but very energetic guy! He has never lived inside a house; with his previous family he lived in the barn with a kennel run. He will need someone that understands that he will need to learn what living in a home is all about. He is an outgoing guy that does jump up when excited but is working on this here at the shelter. Copper has never been around children and may be too much for small children, so an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Copper is a happy guy that would love to find his loving forever home soon! A knowledge of hounds would be best for his future family. He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter. Story
A sweetheart! Arla was found as a stray, near state forest land, and was not claimed. She was initially pretty shy, although she actually seems to prefer children, and she's come a long way in the short time she's been here. This active girl would love a yard to run in. She loves being petted and talked to. Arla does still need some work on a leash, and with housetraining. Spayed, current on vaccinations, has been heartworm etc. tested (negative), and been started on heartworm preventative. 240 522 7416.

Story
Colonel was picked up as a stray and taken to a county shelter. His owner was located, but chose not to reclaim him. The shelter went code red, this old guy was at the top of the list, and he ended up at Safe Shelter. he is a gentleman; housetrained, friendly, and seems to be okay with other dogs. Estimated at 10 years old, we"ve had him vaccinated, heartworm tested, and neutered. Colonel is a big guy, with a big heart. He needs a family that will love him loyally. 240 522 7416
