Story
Looking for a Foster or Adopter If you’re looking for a dog who is 100% puppy energy and sweetness, Skipper might just be your guy. This handsome 10 month old redbone hound with floppy helicopter ears, is full of enthusiasm for everything around him. Skipper is strong but does well on leash with a reminder here and there, he’s just excited to see the world! He’s playful and curious. He is dog friendly and loves making dog friends. While Skipper hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, he definitely loves to play and interact with his people. His favorite activity? Giving kisses. Lots and lots of kisses. If you have exposed skin, Skipper considers it fair game for a round of enthusiastic puppy affection. We don’t know how he will do around children or cats. Crate time isn’t his favorite at first, and it may take a minute to convince him to go in, but once he’s settled he relaxes quietly without any fuss. Skipper is a sweet boy who just wants attention, affection, and someone to share his joyful puppy spirit with. With a little guidance, structure and training, he’s going to grow into an amazing companion. He’s going to grow into a large dog 60lbs+, so keep that in mind when considering him for a companion. To learn more about Candy, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Candy will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Candy is a gorgeous caramel-colored Redbone Coonhound mix whose name fits her perfectly! She’s as sweet as caramel candy and just as irresistible. With her velvety coat glowing in warm amber tones and that magnificent hound nose leading the way, she turns heads everywhere she goes. Candy is friendly and energetic, and has done well playing with other dogs, happily joining in games and social time, showing off both her playful side and her easygoing nature. In true hound fashion, she loves to sniff on her walks ( who wouldn’t ?), but equally enjoys a good game of tug and searching for treats in a snuffle mat. She knows how to ‘sit’ and takes treats gently. If you’re looking for a best friend with a big nose for adventure and an even bigger heart for love, Candy is ready to caramel-melt her way right into yours.

Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Bubba is a stunning Redbone Coonhound mix with soulful eyes, a gentle spirit, and a heart that’s absolutely full of love. This sweet boy may be a little shy when he first meets you, but it doesn’t take long before his affectionate personality shines through. Once Bubba settles in, he becomes a wonderfully loving companion who enjoys coming over for pets, hugs, and the occasional cuddle session. He also has a nice independent side, happy to relax nearby and enjoy some quiet time once he’s had his fill of affection. He’s the perfect balance of snuggly and easygoing. Bubba absolutely loves his walks and seems happiest exploring the world nose-first. Like many hounds, he enjoys stopping to sniff and mark along the way, but overall he moves along nicely and would make a wonderful companion for active people who enjoy long walks, nature trails, or hiking adventures. Out in the world, Bubba is calm and well-mannered and has a friendly curiosity with other dogs. Inside the home, Bubba is a polite houseguest and is doing well with his house training lessons. Overall, Bubba is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate dog who will thrive in a loving home that enjoys walks, patience, and plenty of quiet companionship. With his calm nature, loving heart, and hound curiosity, Bubba is ready to become someone’s loyal best friend.

Story
Honey came to us from a very rural and high kill shelter after the people that had her gave away or sold her puppies. When we heard about her story and what happened to her puppies, we jumped to save her. Honey is as sweet as her name suggests. She is a lovely redbone coonhound and all around terrific dog. She knows her name and responds nicely to it, she knows "sit" and "lay down", takes treats gently, good on a leash, wags her tail and is friendly to other dogs that come over to meet her. She's a really nice girl and anyone lucky enough to adopt Honey will have a wonderful companion. HART Homepage: https://hart90.org/ Questions About this Animal? Story
2 yrs old, 51 lbs Lovey was cruelly shot in the head soon after having puppies. Because of that tragedy, she needed to have her eye removed. Despite it all, she has shown incredible resiliency. The shelter fell head over heals with her loving demeanor (hence her name!) and long silky ears. According to the shelter, "She’s wonderful and deserves to be pampered the rest of her life." Lovey is new to the rescue, and we can't wait to get to know this special dog ourselves. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC.
