Story
Gus is a wonderful example of a Rhodesian Ridgeback—quiet, dignified, and calm in the house. He rarely barks indoors and is a very sweet, people-oriented dog. He is gentle and affectionate with children and enjoys being around his people. He also loves to fetch and, like many Ridgebacks, has a strong natural instinct to hunt and explore. Gus tends to be somewhat aloof with other dogs rather than especially interested in playing with them. He is much more focused on his people, exploring, and doing the things he loves. He would do best with a family who understands the Ridgeback personality and can give him plenty of opportunities for exercise, walks, running, and outdoor play. Gus takes daily thyroid medication, which he does very well with, and we have approximately a six-month supply of his medication to send with him. We love Gus very much, which is what makes this decision so difficult. Our lives have become increasingly busy, and we no longer have the time to give him the exerc
