We’re making a post we never imagined we’d have to make. 💔 Our sweet Minnie is being returned to us through no fault of her own—she is absolutely perfect, according to both us and her family. Sadly, her family no longer has the time she deserves, and while this decision is heartbreaking, Once a rescue dog, always a rescue dog, we will never turn our dogs away! We have saved over 100 dogs and Minnie is the first dog who has ever been returned to us.😭 We know how devastating and emotional this must be for everyone involved, but we also know Minnie’s story is far from over. She came to us last November as a tiny, three-month-old puppy after living outside in truly horrific conditions. We rescued her, helped her heal, showed her love and kindness, and watched her blossom. 🌸 We then found what we believed would be her forever home, and for several months, Minnie was deeply loved and cared for. Now, fast forward to this October, Minnie is coming back to us at one year old—and she is somehow even more amazing than she was as a puppy. 🥹 Minnie is the sweetest, happiest, most social girl you could ever meet. She loves other dogs, cats, and children, and she truly is a social butterfly wherever she goes. 🦋 She enjoys spending time outside exploring, taking in all the exciting smells, and being part of whatever her people are doing. Gus is a wonderful example of a Rhodesian Ridgeback—quiet, dignified, and calm in the house. He rarely barks indoors and is a very sweet, people-oriented dog. He is gentle and affectionate with children and enjoys being around his people. He also loves to fetch and, like many Ridgebacks, has a strong natural instinct to hunt and explore. Gus tends to be somewhat aloof with other dogs rather than especially interested in playing with them. He is much more focused on his people, exploring, and doing the things he loves. He would do best with a family who understands the Ridgeback personality and can give him plenty of opportunities for exercise, walks, running, and outdoor play. Gus takes daily thyroid medication, which he does very well with, and we have approximately a six-month supply of his medication to send with him. She merely needs someone to open their home to her so she can steal their heart. Could you be that someone? Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.
