Story
This beautiful girl is Zulu Zulu is a bundle of wonderfulness who was born around 2/6/24. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who packs a lot of goodness into a single package and she’s desperately searching for a forever home, full of playfulness, snuggles, and loads of love. * She is super friendly * She is heartworm negative * She is UTD on his vaccines and preventatives * S\he simply can’t wait to meet YOU!! Are you looking for a loyal companion to love and play with? Zulu is your gal! All she asks for is a stable home with a loving family. She merely needs someone to open their home to her so she can steal their heart. Could you be that someone? Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi, I'm Mindy, but I now know my name as Marley. I'm returning to Last Day Dog Rescue because of life changes in my current family. I am a 2 1/2 year old girl. I love people, playing and snuggling. I will want to sleep in bed with you if you let me. I do really like to jump even though I know I'm not supposed to but just can't resist. I am an active rambunctious girl that loves to play ball all day long. I am crate trained, but I prefer not to be crated. I know some basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. I would really like to be your only animal, as I want all the attention. If you think your home might be a fit, I would love to meet you. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. September 9, 2026, 4:00 pm

Story
Meet a sweet, loving girl searching for her forever home. She adores people, especially kids, and would do best with children 7 and older since she gets excited and may jump up to say hello. She may bark at strangers at first, but quickly warms up and rolls over for belly rubs. Phoenix loves exploring, sniffing, and spending time outdoors. A home with room to roam would be ideal, though she’s also happy with regular walks and adventures. She’s athletic and can jump a standard chain-link fence, so a secure yard is important. She has lived peacefully with a small Chihuahua mix and was best friends with a neighbor’s senior dog. However, she has had conflicts with our Beagle, so we believe she would be happiest as the only dog in the home. She is a very sweet companion with so much love to give. We want nothing more than to find her a home where she will be cherished, cared for, and loved for the rest of her life.

Story
Meet Bodie! This two-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix is 53 pounds of timid tenderness that is eager to say so long to kennel life and start new with a family that loves him! Bodie is quick to capture the hearts of everyone he meets. He's a true submissive sweetheart and his gentle curiosity is impossible not to love. Rolling over for belly rubs is his go to move! Bodie takes his treats gently and seems to enjoy plushy toys as well. As he is still a young man, Bodie will benefit from daily exercise and continued training to help build his confidence. A yard for him to enjoy would be perfect for him. We just can't wait to see Bodie's playful side come out. The family that adopts him will truly be as lucky as they come! Based on our evaluation, we feel Bodie would best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the guy for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bashful Bodie!

Story
Baldwin A18697954 lb. neutered male, approx 4 years old -What a sweet, gentle boy! He spent a little time independently exploring the yard, but when I sat down on the ground, his curiosity—and desire for affection—slowly brought him over. He may be a little timid and cautious at first, but he clearly wants to connect with people. Treats were definitely the way to his heart, and he was happy to take them gently while getting to know me!-He’s still working on his “sit” and will need a little practice, and toys weren’t really his thing during our time together. But when it came to snuggles, he was all in! Once inside, he nestled himself right between my legs. It took him a little time to fully relax, but with some gentle encouragement, he eventually melted right into my lap, rolled over, and offered up his belly for rubs.-He walks very nicely on leash with minimal pulling, if any. This sweet boy may take a moment to warm up, but once he feels safe and comfortable, he has such a soft and affectionate side waiting to shine. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30.**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
