Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.3/16/24 Troika is a gorgeous little catahoula girl who was found in a cemetery, presumably dumped there. We believe her leg was caught in a trap of some sort and it is now deformed. We have had our vet examine the leg and he did not recommend amputation, as she did use it a little bit, it is not painful, and it has formed a callous, so it's presence is not hurting anything. Our vet felt that it would be an unnecessary surgery, so we opted to leave it alone. I will say it is adorable how she uses the leg to 'wave' when she gets excited. Troika is currently enrolled in the Paws in Prison program where she is paired with an inmate, working everyday with the inmate on basic training. When she is done the program, she will have her Canine Good Citizen certificate. It's an amazing program! She will graduate from the program the first week of May and at that time will be ready to go to her forever home! Troika is incredibly affectionate. She loves everyone she meets and is a friendly little girl. She gets along well with other dogs, but is very vocal with them, which could be mistaken by another dog for aggression, so she needs a dog companion who is not hyper reactive. She doesn't mean any harm, but she can be quite mouthy, as most catahoulas are. Troika is fostered with several other dogs and she does very well with them. She is about 7 months old and weighs about 40 lbs. She is housetrained and crate trained. Troika is not great with cats! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available.
