He may be shy at first and take some time to decompress, but once he’s comfortable, his sweet and gentle nature comes through. Buddy absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys their company. He is both house-trained and crate-trained—in fact, his crate is his happy place! When left alone, he prefers the security of his kennel, and even when his humans are home, he often chooses to relax there with the door open. This lovable senior does well on a leash and would thrive in a quiet, low-energy home with a patient adopter who understands that he needs time to adjust. While he hasn't been around young children, his gentle nature suggests he would be great with them. We don’t know how he is with cats, but he gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Buddy’s favorite toys are anything soft and squishy, and he enjoys the simple comforts of companionship. 🐾 Meet Larry & Mabel — two of our longest residents, waiting far too long for the home they deserve. Larry has been in rescue since November 2023, and Mabel since August 2023. Both were pulled from the urgent list at the shelter, narrowly escaping a fate no dog should face. They didn’t know each other then, but once they met in boarding, they became inseparable — best friends who found comfort in one another while the months kept passing by. 💔 Sadly, they have now spent almost two years in boarding, still waiting for someone to give them the chance at a real home. ✨ Larry is a 3-year-old Dutch Shepherd/Plott Hound mix. He’s incredibly sweet, laid back, and loves people and kids. He can be a little picky about his dog friends, but his bond with Mabel shows the depth of his heart. He’s always ready for an adventure — hiking, exploring, or just being by your side. ✨ Mabel is a 3-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback. She’s not only beautiful but also full of energy. She loves the water — especially splashing in a pool — and thrives with activity and play. Once she’s gotten her zoomies out, she’s more than happy to relax and soak up love. Both Larry and Mabel are fully vetted, house trained, crate trained, and kid friendly 🏡. Due to their prey drive, they need a home with no cats or small animals. Mabel can be dominant with other dogs, so she pairs best with submissive companions — though truly, her heart belongs to Larry. 💕 These two are more than just dogs in rescue — they are survivors, loyal friends, and family waiting to happen. They’ve already lost so much time behind kennel doors. What they need now is someone who will see how special their bond is and give them the life they deserve: room to run, adventures to burn their energy, and love to finally call their own. 🌟 If you can’t adopt, even a foster home — temporary or long term — would be a gift to Larry & Mabel after all this time. Meet Bronco! Bronco is an amazing pup, estimated to be between 1–2 years old, and he’s still very much in that playful puppy phase. Curious about everything, he loves exploring the world around him and discovering new sights, smells, and adventures. Bronco gets along wonderfully with other dogs and currently has three foster siblings he enjoys playing and lounging with throughout the day. He is also potty trained, and he is currently working on becoming fully kennel trained. This sweet boy is quite the talker—Bronco loves to express himself with silly grumbles, playful barks, and funny little sounds, especially when he’s excited or vying for attention. He has a big personality and an even bigger heart. While he can be a bit skittish at first and sometimes thinks he’s in trouble when you approach, he is quickly learning that people can be kind and gentle. Each day, he grows more confident, more trusting, and more affectionate. In the evenings, Bronco enjoys curling up on a cozy dog bed, and he’ll occasionally trot over to give you a soft “boop” as his sweet way of asking for pets. He also has great protective instincts—if he hears a strange noise outside, he’ll be the first to investigate and alert his people. Bronco is well on his way to becoming a loyal, loving, and devoted companion. With continued patience, reassurance, and love, he will blossom into the incredible dog he is meant to be. Howie has already mastered “sit,” loves to play fetch, and after his puppy zoomies fade, he’s a surprisingly chill and easygoing boy. He’s fearless around horses, unfazed by loud noises, and enjoys weekly “training missions” at doggy daycare where he learns from the best and plays with his fellow recruits. Howie is non-aggressive and even respectful toward cats, though he’s still learning they don’t always want to play. He’s working on potty training, crate training, and basic manners — all part of his journey to becoming a well-trained gentleman.
