A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Rottweiler/American Bulldog mix currently in Burlington, KY, whose essence is a loyal, goofy companion wrapped in a handsome brown coat with a white chest patch. At 115 pounds, Buck is a big boy with an even bigger smile and a simple wish: to be included! Whether he is running beside you through a field, joining you for a 1–3 mile run or hike, playing fetch or tug, chewing a favorite bone nearby, or settling in for a long car ride, Buck is happiest when he is sharing life with his person. He has medium energy, enjoys daily activity, and is also wonderfully content to relax once the adventure is over. Buck is neutered, healthy, up to date on vaccinations, house trained, and crate trained. His education has included puppy camps, private training, and a three-week board-and-train program. He knows sit, wait, free, place, leave it, “ouse” for letting go, here, and down. He stays off furniture, although he would certainly enjoy an invitation to become a couch companion in his new loving home! This gentle boy has grown up with children and has been sweet and patient with them, even taking commands from a four-year-old with impressive seriousness. Oso is a sweet boy who is about 7 years old. He would do best in a single-dog home, as he exhibited resource guarding. It’s not his fault though - he was used to being in a calm, single-dog household, and a few months ago we introduced two dogs into the home who are quite reactive and bark a lot. Oso never barked before them and exhibits a very calm personality. He never exhibited resource guarding prior because he didn’t have anyone to guard his resources from. I believe the incident at the park reinforces that he requires a single family who can be diligent in his handling. Princess has lived with another smaller dog and done well. Princess will require a very secure yard because she does like to go on the occasional adventure. Additionally, Princess has displayed some food possessive tendencies, not enjoying the feeling that someone would take away her bowl of food or special treat. We believe this behavior is a response to lack and the fear of not having things rather than aggression. Princess walks very well on leash and knows her basic commands. She can get overwhelmed in high-traffic public situations and does have the guard breed drive to protect her humans. She loves her people and will be an extremely loyal and devoted friend.

Banana, 9.5 years, is a super sweet, sensitive, playful and loving pup. I started caring for Banana out of the shelter 8 years ago. At that time she was emaciated, suffering a skin disease, shy, suffering PTSD and quiet timid. It took her a week to learn to trust and eat food. In the 8 years we have been together, she has experienced tremendous shifts, through loving attention on multiple levels and some homeopathic remedies. She loves to run and be playful with other dogs. She also loves to bury her snout into you and give and receive love. She gets along well with everyone and has lived with dogs and cats and kids and people her whole time with me. She also appreciates alone time and while she enjoys caressing, getting too close for too long can be too much. An ideal new home would be somewhere with space and other animals I feel. Or at least where she can be taken to interact with other dogs. She has no known medical issues and operates best on a wet food diet.
