Story
Lucy is a great dog. She is playful(sometimes rough) like walks and toy. She loves to chew. She get along with other dogs and cats but doesn’t know her size. So she does play rough. She has never bit anyone or another animal. I just have very little time to spend with her. I work all kinds of hours at my job. I am in recovery so I spend a lot of time at meeting and events to help me stay sober. I feel absolutely terrible doing this but Lucy doesn’t deserve to be alone 18 hours a day. When I got her as a puppy in Sept of 2024 this was not the life I had in mind for her. The adoption fee can be adjusted possibly.

Story
Meet Karma, the curious and playful pup with a side of couch potato! This young lady is an intriguing mix of energetic playfulness and relaxed, calm cuddles. Karma is an affectionate dog who loves to be around her people, whether that's out in the park, where she shows off her athletic side, or at home, where she's happy to snuggle up on the couch. She's always up for an adventure and is eager to explore the world with you. Karma is also quite independent and can entertain herself when you're busy, but she'll always be there to greet you with a wagging tail when you return. With her gentle and funny nature, she's a loyal companion who will keep you on your toes with her smart and curious mind. Karma is a unique blend of fun and calm, making her the perfect addition to a variety of homes. Could yours be the perfect match? Karma is still learning to walk on a leash and is getting the hang of potty training well. She was found as a stray running the whole town on Chesterfield and it under 1 yr old. She can be very shy, but once she warms up to you she is so sweet and feels like a sherpa blanket!

Story
Meet Maple – a beautiful Rottie mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! 🐾Maple recently had a meet-and-greet with another dog and absolutely loved the experience. She’s especially excited to make friends with dogs her own size who are ready to romp, wrestle, and play. Big-dog energy is her vibe! (She would do best in a home without small animals including cats.)Like many shelter dogs, Maple can be a little nervous when meeting new people at first. She just needs a little time to observe and warm up — once she does, her fun, spunky, goofy personality shines through. She’s full of playful antics, loyal to her people, and happiest when she knows her place and routine.Maple has those classic Rottie quirks — smart, expressive, sometimes a little stubborn — but incredibly devoted and eager to bond. With structure, consistency, and lots of love, she will absolutely thrive and become the most loyal companion you could ask for.If you’re looking for a playful, spirited girl who will keep you laughing and love you fiercely, Maple might just be your perfect match. 💛An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Ranger will turn 4 in September 2026. He completed professional training with Sit Means Sit, where he holds a lifetime membership and has access to infinite group classes, which we would transfer over to the new owner. He is extremely intelligent. We live on a farm with approx. 40 chickens and ducks, as well as two ferrets, have never shown aggression towards any of our farm animals. He is crate-trained and can be left out when unattended at home. Ranger is fiercely loyal to his family and devoted to protecting his home. He knows the commands of place, sit, come, go to bed, leave it, heel, and round them up (when herding our animals). He is full of energy and loves being outdoors, especially in the snow. Ranger needs to be in a home without cats, and we are unsure whether he gets along with other dogs. He would do best in a calm home with an owner who doesn't mind being snuggled at all hours of the day.
