Story
Lucy is a great dog. She is playful(sometimes rough) like walks and toy. She loves to chew. She get along with other dogs and cats but doesn’t know her size. So she does play rough. She has never bit anyone or another animal. I just have very little time to spend with her. I work all kinds of hours at my job. I am in recovery so I spend a lot of time at meeting and events to help me stay sober. I feel absolutely terrible doing this but Lucy doesn’t deserve to be alone 18 hours a day. When I got her as a puppy in Sept of 2024 this was not the life I had in mind for her. The adoption fee can be adjusted possibly.

Story
Meet Maple – a beautiful Rottie mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! 🐾Maple recently had a meet-and-greet with another dog and absolutely loved the experience. She’s especially excited to make friends with dogs her own size who are ready to romp, wrestle, and play. Big-dog energy is her vibe! (She would do best in a home without small animals including cats.)Like many shelter dogs, Maple can be a little nervous when meeting new people at first. She just needs a little time to observe and warm up — once she does, her fun, spunky, goofy personality shines through. She’s full of playful antics, loyal to her people, and happiest when she knows her place and routine.Maple has those classic Rottie quirks — smart, expressive, sometimes a little stubborn — but incredibly devoted and eager to bond. With structure, consistency, and lots of love, she will absolutely thrive and become the most loyal companion you could ask for.If you’re looking for a playful, spirited girl who will keep you laughing and love you fiercely, Maple might just be your perfect match. 💛An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Trixie is one of the sweetest girls in our shelter. She LOVES attention and belly rubs. She does good going outside to potty and going on walks. She is selective around dogs and cats, and does well with older children. She is very laid back and would love a home that can give her lots of attention!

Story
Weight; Meet Frig Frig is a beautiful boxer mix with the gentlest eyes and the softest, most hopeful heart. After spending much of her early life bringing puppies into the world, she’s finally getting her chance to simply be someone’s beloved girl. She carries a quiet bravery with her — learning that couches are for cozy naps, that kind hands bring comfort, and that love can be steady and safe. Every new experience is a milestone, and watching her discover the joys of home life is truly something special. Frig would do best in a calm home without tiny tots, where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. She’s still working on her potty training, but she approaches each day with a willingness to learn and a sweet, trusting spirit. With patience, gentle guidance, and encouragement, she’ll keep gaining confidence and shining brighter. Frig’s story is one of resilience and new beginnings. Now, she’s ready for the chapter she’s always deserved — one filled with warmth, reassurance, and a family who sees the incredible, loving soul she’s always been. Dogs; must meet all pups Cats: Unknown Kids: Unknown, no tiny tots

Story
Hi! I am Butch! I weigh 56# I`m such a cutie-patootie who LOVES getting lots of cuddles and love! Little kids can be scary to me! I would do best in a home with older children and adults. I would do better in a home with people that have previous dog experience, who can help me grow to be the best, most confident version of myself!I enjoy playing with my dog friends or just hanging out! I prefer daintier dog friends, so be sure to bring any current dogs in the home with you to meet me!FWACC reserves the right to place me in my best fit home.

Story
COURTESY POST This is Ginger. She is such a sweet girl. She spent the first 4 yrs of her life living in a barn as a breeder dog. Despite this she is very loving. Does great with other dogs. She likes cats but is a bit too rough with them. She was never potty trained but her foster has been working with her on that. She is fine in a kennel when her foster is gone or at night and she doesn’t mess in her kennel. She doesn’t chew and is calm in the house. She is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Please send an email to jgb3008@gmail.com for an application.
