Story
Sparkles is a Rottweiler/Pitbull Mix born in November of 2023.  She came into rescue with her littermates and all were battling the deadly Parvovirus.  She is a sweet girl with a bright disposition.  She is smart and athletic with an abundance of energy.  Sparkles is a little shy in new or unfamiliar surroundings, but before long she is all wiggles and wags.  Sparkles' love language is touch and she loves to snuggle.  She gets along with other dogs and with kids.  She would do well with an active family and other pets since she doesn't like being alone. Please Note: The Survivors Litter is currently recovering from the deadly Parvovirus. They are is still up for adoption, and we encourage you to apply to adopt one of The Survivors Litter so that while they recover, we can start the adoption process. They will be ready to go to their forever home on 02/25/2024. The suggested adoption donation for Sparkles is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than six months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger, than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. Introducing Athena, a young Rottweiler (b. Dec 2021) and she is ready for a new home! Athena's perfect home would be with someone who can give her LOTS of love and attention.  She loves to play with balls and needs a fenced yard.  She enjoys being active and is leash trained.  She doesn't know what to think of younger kids, but she's amazing with older kids (age 6+) and she loves to play!  Athena gets along with other dogs and she is potty trained.  Athena loves her food and treats!  If you're looking for an easy-going and amazing dog, Athena just might be your girl! The suggested adoption donation for Athena is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
A-Roo-Roo! That's the Rottweiler's way of saying "Hello!" Ing Lesh is an adult Rottweiler (b. approximately 7/2019) looking for his forever home. He is housebroken, dog friendly, and kid friendly with children 6 years of age and older. He knows some commands and loves to give kisses! Ing Lesh is active and would need a fenced in yard to help contain some of that active energy. Ing Lesh also likes to play with toys, however, he might need help learning how to share. He would love to have another furry canine friend if you already have one. Ing Lesh likes to sing the song of his people when he is left alone.  He is crate trained, but will need some extra encouragement that it is his safe space. He enjoys belly rubs, treats and toys of all kind! If you have room in your home for another member of your family, fill out an application for Ing Lesh!  The suggested adoption donation for Ing Lesh is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
I only charge an adoption fee to deter unsuitable individuals seeking a free pet. Bella is a sweet and loving dog. Our family is expanding, and keeping multiple pets with a large family is challenging. Additionally, living in a military community means owning a rottweiler, considered an 'aggressive breed,' presents difficulties. We adore Bella and want to find the very best family for her. She enjoys cold weather and is best suited for older children rather than toddlers. She is 50/50 with other dogs. However, she has successfully stayed at multiple group dog boardings over the years. While she may be protective, she is naturally relaxed and loving. She needs a bit of an experienced owner due to her size. She loves walks, chew toys, and cuddles. Bella has a dog sister and a cat brother she gets along with. Best if she is an only pet with a more mature family. I have Bella's stuff that I can provide for free if adopted. I will want to check on her if adopted as well.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Ava is a spunky, energetic puppy who loves to zoom around the yard, play with toys and other dogs, go for walks, and chew on bones. Once she's burned off energy, she'll snuggle next to you on the couch and maybe give you a few puppy kisses! Ava is great at learning tricks as she is very food-motivated. She knows how to sit and shake and is learning leave it, down and stay.Like any of our dogs, this pretty girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs.  Because of that, Ava's ideal owner will have prior Rottweiler or other similar breed experience.  Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember  that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.   Ava's adoption fee is $375, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.July 23, 2024, 3:05 am

Story
FOSTER UPDATE: Three cheers for foster parents! Welcome to a little "magic moment" of rescue... Nova Lee's foster mom has been working with her on "stay" for some time and we are happy to share that it's been worth every minute. Nova Lee is no longer a door bolter! This smart girl is heading on to her next command "place," so her future family can look forward to a very smart, well-behaved sweetheart that's probably better trained than any teenager in the house... Nova Lee is a fun-loving Boxer Terrier who was born in April of 2016!  Nova Lee is a smart, busy girl who loves playing fetch, long walks, squirrel watching, and yard games; she's also quite the explorer so will need a backyard with a 6' fence to keep her close to home. She is a friendly girl who gets along with all people but she does NOT enjoy sharing her space with other dogs or cats.... as far as Nova's concerned she's the only 4-legged friend you'll need! She knows basic commands like "sit," "shake," and "ball," but her future family might be interested in working on "stay" --  Nova has learned indoor manners and is perfectly content keeping your spot on the couch warm while you're away from home. Because of these good manners she is not kenneled regularly, but on the rare occassion when she is (out of town visits with family, for example) she pouts for a bit but settles down on her own. Nova is 100% housebroken and will whine to indicate that she needs to go outside to potty. Nova is working on her leash manners... she gets excited and pulls but is working through it with her foster family. According to her foster mom, Nova growls when you play tug of war with her but in a playful way; however, due to her high energy and playful personaiity we think that any kids in her future home should be over the age of 15. Recently, her foster mom discovered that Nova has taken a liking to a particular house slipper... she says that Nova doesn't chew on it she just carries it to her bed and sleeps with it like a stuffed animal! This sweetheart is eager to find a family that will give her the attention, love, and all the birthday cake she deserves! NOTICE:  Nova is dog reactive and is working with a trainer on this behavior.  However, she WILL REQUIRE adopter to work with a trainer free of charge to provide a continuity to her training and help her transition to a new home. The suggested adoption donation for Nova Lee is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. Story
Say hello to Ronan (b. 10/2021) a box/pit mix.  Ronan is a loving and sweet energetic pup. He loves to play hard with his foster sister, but equally loves to cuddle up on the couch with her and me afterwards. Ronan is a very happy/good natured pup - he always walks with a pep in his step and has the biggest smile on his face no matter what he is doing. He is high energy. He does not yet realize how big he is (almost as tall as me on his back legs - I am 4’11) and sometimes struggles to control his energy when he is excited, but has been making great improvements with training. He learned sit, shake, and stay very quick and is working on lay down and jumping when he is excited now.  The suggested adoption donation for Ronan is $375.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter to take the pet to be altered at NHS free of charge. Alterations are REQUIRED for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The contract states the alter must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or adopter will be in breach of contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alter to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately after the procedure is complete. Thank you in advance for your compliance.
