Story
Shadow is an active Rottweiler, born appx April 2021.  Shadow gets along with other canines, felines and all humans - including kids of all ages!  He prefers to have another dog or cat in the house.  He needs a fenced yard with room to stretch his legs or dig a little.  Shadow tends to be vocal and will let you know what he's thinking or feeling. Shadow is crate trained, housebroken, fetches and knows some commands.  He tends to be a little destructive when left alone, so you will probably want to kennel him while you're gone.  Don't be alarmed when petting him - he "purrs" when being pet, but it might sound more like a growl. The perfect home for Shadow is anywhere he will get lots of love.  He would love to have another furry friend in the house, but would also be okay if he's the only one. The suggested adoption donation for Shadow is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Sparkles came into rescue with her littermates (b. Nov 2023) and they were all battling the deadly Parvovirus.  She has recovered and is now healthy!!  She is a Rottweiler/Pitbull Mix and such a sweet girl with a bright disposition.  She is smart and athletic with an abundance of energy.  Sparkles is a little shy in new or unfamiliar surroundings, but before long, she is all wiggles and wags.  She LOVES to snuggle!  She gets along with other dogs and with kids.  She would do well with an active family and other pets since she doesn't like being alone. The suggested adoption donation for Sparkles is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. Story
Sally is a mix of Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Dogue de Bordeaux, born appx October 2022.  Sally is potty trained, crate trained and she knows some commands.  She is leash trained and enjoys being active.  Given the opportunity, she will bolt out the front door, so she needs a secure fenced yard.  She has been known to do a little digging in the yard so she'll keep you company while you're gardening.  After some exercise, she will enjoy cuddling in your lap for nap time.  She needs her own personal space for dining at meal time. Sally would do great in a home with a calm, confident and experienced pet owner.  She should probably be the only dog and would do best without children.  Depending on the potential owner and level of experience, she might be okay with another dog in the house.  [Sally is friendly with other dogs, strangers and kids, but might be happiest without dogs or kids in the house.] The suggested adoption donation for Sally is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Huckleberry ("Huck") is a sweet and loving Boxer/Pitbull mix, born May 2021.  He really is doing well at his foster home.  He loves to run and spend time with every human he meets.  He really enjoys walks and is getting better with other dogs (a work in progress).  Leash training is going well.  He listens and knows quite a few words and basic commands.  If you are looking for a friend and companion, he is your guy!! Huckleberry is such a loving and gentle dog.  Huckleberry spends his time lounging, exploring the home and asking for repeated hugs during each day.  Huck is an inside dog - he goes out, does his business and comes back to the door after occasional zoomies in which he does laps around the yard in excitement!  He is fully house trained.  He has been left at the house alone several times and is always a good boy.  He didn't touch a thing or get into any trouble! At Huck's foster home, there are numerous contractors in the home for long periods.  He greeted each one and was not bothered by their presence.  He is a very good guard dog and will let you know when there is someone new.  Huckleberry is a lover and enjoys people.  He is very calm and greets his foster parents at the door when coming home.  He is truly the perfect dog and needs a home of his own! Huckleberry needs a fenced yard with a tall fence.  This boy can scale at 4 foot fence, so he'll need a home with a 6 foot privacy fence.  When he isn't showing off his impressive vertical jump, he likes going for walks with his people.  Other dogs tend to stress him out, so he needs to be the only pet in the home.  He's working on this with his foster parents and is getting better when he sees other dogs.  Huckleberry needs someone who will keep working on this with him.   The suggested adoption donation for Huck is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training). In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Before applying to adopt Huck, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls.  Adoptions for Huck are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Story
Ginny is an eager-to-please Boxer mix, born appx April 2023.  Her perfect home would be as the only dog and with older kids (age 6+).  She likes to play and can get a little wild with small kids.  She would love a backyard with room to run and the yard needs to be fenced.  Ginny needs to be with someone who will walk her daily and spoil her with lots of snuggles and treats.  She would love to be with her humans as much as possible, even sneaking into their bed at night!  She would love to learn more commands because she really is eager to please and treat oriented.  Ginny seems to prefer women. Ginny loves playing with other dogs outside of the home.  She just can't seem to get along with another dog in the home.  She has no experience with cats or other animals.  After her daily walk, she will enjoy lounging in your lap for the rest of the day.  She loves to chase squirrels in the backyard and will spend all day outside if allowed.  She uses a gentle leader on walks and knows some commands - kennel, sit, shake, down and blanket (her blanket for laying on the bed and couch).  Ginny is potty trained and crate trained. "Gets Along With Other Dogs" is marked YES because she does like to play and gets along with other dogs outside of the home.  She has not been able to get along with an older dog in the home. The suggested adoption donation for Ginny is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
