Story
Sparkles came into rescue with her littermates (b. Nov 2023) and they were all battling the deadly Parvovirus.  She has recovered and is now healthy!!  She is a Rottweiler/Pitbull Mix and such a sweet girl with a bright disposition.  She is smart and athletic with an abundance of energy.  Sparkles is a little shy in new or unfamiliar surroundings, but before long, she is all wiggles and wags.  She LOVES to snuggle!  She gets along with other dogs and with kids.  She would do well with an active family and other pets since she doesn't like being alone. The suggested adoption donation for Sparkles is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than six months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger, than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. ##1954394##

Story
Roxy was 2-2.5 years old when we got her. She has been a part of our family for over 7 years and is a sweet girl and will be creeping up on 10 years old. She is a snuggly old girl who will take any attention you will give her and still ask for more. She is very vocal and will let you know when she wants food or needs to be let outside. She is a sweet girl but, due to her age\health, it would be best that she be the only pet and in a home with no small children. We love her immensely but we believe it is in our\her best interest that she finds a new home.

Story
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Chapo is being fostered in MO currently. However, transportation is available for adoptions within our coverage area. Chapo is a sweet, loyal, and playful boy who can be a bit nervous meeting new people. He does best when he can come to you on his own terms, at his own pace. He will start sniffing and nudging when he’s ready for pets. Chapo seems to prefer women over men, and can be especially protective of children. He has experience around kids aged 4 and 6 years. While Chapo does not currently live with any small dogs, he has done well with one through a fence. With both male and female large dogs, he is very playful and submissive. It is unknown how he is with cats. Chapo is still learning to heel and how to behave well on a leash. Although he is usually correctable, he will occasionally pull and whine if another dog seems reactive. He does know “sit, down, come, muzzle, shake, and go home (go to his crate).” In fact, he willingly goes into his crate every night. He is not food aggressive, and will wait for permission to eat. While he is still learning how to take treats gently, he is very food motivated and is great at catching them! Chapo has grown and made so much improvement in the time he has been in foster care! He’s a silly, playful pup at heart. Very treat motivated and learned house rules, house and crate training very quickly. He loves his foster family and loves to be near his humans. He also plays well by himself and loves to play with all toys and balls. He also knows when to calm down and will be quiet and sleep all day quietly in his crate if you work nights. He does tend to be skittish and anxious meeting new people, so slow, gradual intro are an absolute must. Please be patient with him and let him come to you on his own terms. When he’s ready to meet you, he typically comes to sniff you on his own. He’ll show he’s uncomfortable by barking at you. Since he is muzzle trained, and this may be the best option when meeting new people.

Story
Gunther is friendly, bright, alert and responsive. He is rescue only because he has bilateral entropion. He has hair loss on his ears that are consistent with fly strike. He came into the shelter as a stray. Notes from evaluator: Gunther overall appears to be a good boy. He is treat motivated and just needs someone to care for him. I think he would make a great companion once bonded to his human! Gunther was definitely interested in checking out his surroundings and not overly interested in me. He didn't respond when I tried to call him over and it was hard to tell if he actually has hearing issues or if his selective hearing game is strong. He is treat motivated and took treats gently. He is friendly and I didn't have any problems touching him or petting him, He looks like he was an outside dog as he has evidence of rough spots on skin and fly bites. Gunther walks well on a leash and does not pull. He kept his nose down the whole time but will come with a little encouragement. We did not get him out with any other dogs but we did walk him past a couple of other dogs in his same cell block. They were very quiet dogs but Gunther had no reaction. He has a full tail and it was alert and up but wagging when his nose met the other dogs nose through the fence. No apparent issues and may do well with other dogs with proper intros. Gunther does not have a deadline at this point but the shelter is a high kill shelter so he is definitely at risk.

Story
My name is AJ and I am estimated to be between 3-5 years old.    I feel so blessed that I was able to get into a rescue after being picked up as a stray and sent to a shelter.    Shelters and rescues all over the country are full so I am very lucky to have been rescued. I am an all natural boy with a full tail.    Sometimes I like to chase it! I am friendly and playful.   I am an adolescent male who needs training and patience.    I need to go to a home with people who have current Doberman experience who have the time and patience to work with me. I cannot go into a home with little dogs or cats. If you are interested in me please go to www.doberescue-ne.orgAll of our dogs are current with all shots, are on heart worm preventative monthly and are neutered/spayed. All dogs are tail docked. All of the above Dobes are pure breed Dobermans unless otherwise noted. We hope you can find a place in your heart and your home for one of our rescue Dobes. Please Note:In most cases we require a fenced yard.We do not place our rescue dogs in homes with very young children (under the age of 8 years). We set these limitations, not because of aggression issues with our dogs, but because Dobermans are generally large, active dogs and can easily knock down, run over or easily trip a small child, causing a serious fall. Also, we reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason. Our adoption area encompasses Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.Copyright © 2007 - Omaha Doberman RescueFor more information or to fill out an adoption request please visithttp://www.doberescue-ne.org/October 14, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
My name is Hope and I am about 1 ½ years old.  I was named Hope because I was picked up off of the streets and sent to a shelter where no one claimed me.  The day after I arrived in rescue I broke with pneumonia and was pretty sick but now I am doing great.  Hope is for healing and new beginnings and I epitomize both! I am a very sweet and loving young lady with lots of energy but I also have the ability to chill out and snuggle – it’s one of my favorite things!  I am in foster with other dogs and get a long well but I cannot go to a home with cats or tiny dogs as I am too much for them and have a high prey drive. I have not been taught any manners yet in life but I am willing to learn.  My foster mom is starting to work with me and my forever family will be asked to commit to taking me for classes.  I am a pretty girl with a bright mind so I have potential to be a star pupil if I am given patient consistent training. I am crate trained and am not having accidents in my foster home. If you would like some hope in your life and have the time and patience for a youngster, please go to the rescue website at www.doberescue-ne.org, review the requirements and submit an application.  I will definitely brighten many a dreary day!All of our dogs are current with all shots, are on heart worm preventative monthly and are neutered/spayed.
