Pickles was found at Horseshoe Lake State Park in Madison County, IL. in July 2025. As of today no one has claimed him and he has been fostered since then. We will no longer be able to care for Pickles so rehoming is critical at this time. He is both sweet and friendly as well as protective and obedient. Loves to travel and be by your side as much as possible. He requires time, patience, and a lot of exercise. He is no more than a year old according to the vet and up to date on all vaccines, as well as neutered. PLEASE SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY! Due to so many people backing out at the last minute and causing unnecessary and in some cases extreme inconveniences we ask that the adoption fee be paid before agreeing to meet. While she takes a professional approach to meeting new people—preferring a "look but don't touch" policy until trust is established—her true personality is worth the wait. Once you’ve passed her orientation, she transitions into a high-energy "Wiggle-First" policy, featuring her signature celebratory spins and playful flops. Specialized Affection: Expert in chin scratches and behind-the-ear rubs. Junior Shadowing: Currently apprenticing as a 24/7 loyal companion to her favorite humans, both kid and adult. Social Dynamics: Excellent teammate for both large and small dogs in a play setting. Ignores cats mostly, but friendly. Dining Preferences: Requires a private "executive suite" (kennel) for meals to ensure a stress-free, slow-dining experience. She can be reactive when she is trying to eat, and other dogs are invading her personal space. Since she can be a bit of a "flight risk" when startled, she’s looking for a home that understands the importance of safety (leashes and fences!) Izzi is currently in foster and taking medications for heartworm treatment, along with morning stress medications to ease her anxiety while she is in her crate and her foster mom is at work. Alfalfa has so many meanings. To horse people alfalfa is a rich and green leafy food :) To dog people, Alfalfa, means ME!!! I have not lead the most "leafy" life though. I was FINALLY saved from an extreme hoarding situation - I was waiting my whole life to leave that "life" behind!! And I am SO grateful to the ladies who have taken over a year to save 65 of the 87 dogs I lived with AND are still working to get more out! I am a shy when u first meet me, but don't let that de-suade you! I will warm up and you will be so so grateful that you gave me the time to open up to you and show you my steady and grateful side, I am more of a loner than a lot of hoarding dogs are, I actually would be fine with or without another dog or cat. I am slow to trust but once I trust you I am a quiet and loving companion :) Only on my terms. I have been through a lot and just need the most wonderful, patient, laid back and quiet family!! I know you are OUT THERE!! Look onto my chocolate dreamy eyes, and get that application in! I am waiting..... Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 ( includes transport to your area)
