Hugo is 8 years old. We have had him since he was a puppy. He is a friendly lovable dog who loves playing outside and cuddling. Unfortunately, we have to rehome him as I can’t give him the attention he needs. He comes with his best friend Lola. They have been together since we got her a year after him.

Story
Babie is a Boxer/Greyhound/Pitbull mix, born appx June 2021. Babie is a sweet and friendly girl. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is an athletic girl, enjoys being active and needs a fenced yard with a TALL fence - no short 4' fences for this girl! Bonus points if you have a large yard with room for her to run and stretch her legs! She is also leash trained and would love it if her person enjoys being active just as much as she does. Sometimes she can be reactive to other dogs while out walking. Babie gets along with kids, but sometimes she is not too sure of them. She has too much energy for little kids and would probably be okay with age 6 and older. Babie does not like to share her food. She needs her own personal space for meals so she feels comfortable. Help us find Babie a new home! The suggested adoption donation for Babie is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Before applying to adopt Babie, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. This will also allow you to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.       Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Layla is an adult Boxer (born 2021).  Layla is eager to be loved and is a great snuggle partner when it's time to wind down or go to sleep.  She's housebroken, crate trained and friendly with other dogs. Layla needs a family of adults who are energetic and able to help Layla burn off all her energy and provide mental stimulation for her.   Her new owners must be patient and willing to work with Layla as she learns how to control her energy.   She doesn't understand yet that she can't be rough when playing with younger people.  The perfect home for Layla would have no children (or possibly older kids age 13+) and a fenced yard to run around in.    Layla does like to bark or nip when excited or when she's being protective of her family.  She will sometimes seem nervous or stressed.   The suggested adoption donation for Layla is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Banjo is a sweet Boxer mix, born May 2024.  He was surrendered by his owner because he had Parvo.  This resilient puppy beat Parvo and is ready for the next chapter in his life!  He has a very loving demeanor, but needs to be the only dog in the home.    He is crate trained, potty trained, walks great on a leash and knows sit & stay    He also doesn't need to be kenneled when his foster mom is at work. The perfect home for Banjo will be with a family that enjoys an active and fun day of playing, walking and snuggles at the end of the day.  He gets along well with older kids (age 10+). Banjo LOVES his people and is very eager to please.  He is such a sweet boy!   Who wants to be part of Banjo's new lease on life? The suggested adoption donation for Banjo $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.   ##2187095##

Story
Meet Cypress, AKA Silas, a laid back sweet Pit / Boxer mix (b. June 2023). He loves playing with his toys and other dogs.  He is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle as much as possible - on the couch, in the car, anywhere you let him! He gives the best of both worlds, playful and snuggly.  He does great with kids and dogs. He does okay around cats, but probably shouldn't have cats in his new home.  Please consider adopting this special boy!! Cypress previously had a femoral head ostectomy.  This is a surgical operation and is performed to alleviate hip pain in dogs.  Cypress has recovered and has a good prognosis for near-normal function of the limb. The suggested adoption donation for Cypress is $300. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Neale is 4 months old now, and he’s learning quickly. He’s almost completely house trained and will usually ask to go out when nature calls. He is kennel trained and appreciates a frozen Kong for his longer confinements, such as when I have to leave for work. I hate to be putting him out there to be rehomed, but after doing a DNA test, my partner is uncomfortable with him being a majority pit bull. I didn’t know about this being an issue prior to bringing him home. He’s about 60% American pit bull terrier, 30% coonhound, and 10% other. He really is a good puppy, but he does need to get his energy out. I’ve been taking him out to parks or forest and fields where he can run. He does like to chew since he’s teething right now but he’s getting better at realizing he has toys for that. I’d recommend always having one on hand for him. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Story
He is an 8 month puppy who needs more attention than I can give. He was my girlfriend;s gift but she left him when we broke up. I work 4-5 days a week, leaving him in a kennel for over 12 hours which is not fair to him. I live in an apartment and do not have time or space to spend with him that he deserves. He has the personality to be a great pet, but needs a place to run and experience life. He loves to play with my parents bern and their doodle. He will play nonstop if you let him. He loves chasing balls. He will still have an accident once a day if you get busy and miss his signal. He does well with my 4 year old niece he just does not understand his space boundaries around her, but he shows no signs of being aggressive toward anyone. He does very well in a kennel when you need to leave for work. But he is a puppy who likes to chew. He needs a family that will play and teach him to be the great dog he will be. This is a tough decision for me because I enjoy his companionship.

Story
*Courtesy Post of a Very Special Girl* Hello ALL my friends, and YES, everyone is my friend! My name is Kaya and I'm a 4 year old female American Bulldog Mix but my foster mom thinks there might be a bit of baby hippo mixed in.  I'm a BIG chunk of love weighing in at about 75 pounds and I'm here to bring to bring joy, love, and happiness to you...but know I'm a on the lazy side so you will need to provide me with a comfy bed or sturdy lap to lounge on! Please read more about me below: PERSONALITY: Kaya is a goof and a love bug! There’s not much she takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! She will do just about anything for a treat. She even thinks her own kibble is a treat! She’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. She loves playing and is a bulldozer but relaxes and naps most of the day too. She doesn’t require mass amounts of exercise and is more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch tv with her humans. Oh! Almost forgot! She snores. It’s not quiet so possibly investing in ear plugs is a good idea! KIDS: Yes! But how tough are your kids? She is a stumpy legged, thick bodied, giant headed, wrecking ball. No human, big nor small gets treated differently by Kaya, she loves them all. She thinks everyone is at the party for her so beware of being smooshed as she plays. She will then apologize by smothering your face with kisses and butt wiggles. She has lived with 3 kids, ages 3, 5 and 8. For the most part she is a lazy hippo letting kids of all ages pet and sleep next to her. Occasionally she will get the zoomies so littles need to be prepared to seek higher ground when Kaya tucks her legs under and kicks it into high speed. CRATE TRAINED: Perfection. Kaya never barks in it, chews, destroys, or has accidents while in her crate. She is also great with free roam once adjusted to a new environment. She happily snoozes in an open crate during the day if you’re working from home. No separation anxiety or barking while her humans are hard at work paying her food bills. POTTY TRAINED: Kaya will do her business on command on leash. She has never had an accident in her foster home. She lets out little whimpers letting you know she needs to go. A proper and tidy lady is what she is. HOME RECOMMENDATIONS: Family, or single human. She is ready to love all! There’s not much she takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! She will do just about anything for a treat. She even thinks her own kibble is a treat! She’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. This hilarious girl also loves her stuffies! She'll grab and go while frequently hitting herself in the head with them.  OTHER DOGS in HOME: At this time, we’re listing her as an only dog. Dog intros are tough. Kaya gets overstimulated and just goes right in. Other dogs don’t enjoy this. She does not have any barrier aggression and does not react when she meets another dog through a fence (foster mom has video of this) or on leash.  Kaya had to become somewhat of a dominant female to have survived for 3 months on the streets protecting herself. We are open to intros with a larger (50lb +) submissive male dog and continue to work on her impulse control. CATS: No…let’s go with no. No seems like a solid plan due to her HIGH PREY DRIVE. If you're loving for a huge head full of love, has jowls for days, can be a bulldozer but enjoys her naps most of the day this goofy love bug is for you! And as a bonus Kaya does not require mass amount of exercise. To meet this sweet adorable hippo, please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org and be ready to fall in love! COURTESY POST! All meets will be conducted by her foster mom and she must be in indoor companion animal. Kaya is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, HeartWorm Negative, is on preventatives and is microchipped.        PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! August 13, 2025, 6:58 pm
