Story
Rocky was born June 23, 2015 and weighs about 100 lbs.  Rocky is with us because his humans moved to a condo in Florida that does not allow his breed.   Rocky is your typical Rottie and bonds intensely with his humans and would like for his new humans to be around more often than not.  When Rocky was dropped off we were greeted with big (docked) tail wags and kisses.  He needed vaccines and a bath upon arrival and he was wonderful with us for both, the nail trim was somewhat of a challenge and now that he is actively running around and swimming they are in good condition.  Rocky has been good with other dogs here and if he goes to a home with another dog Rocky will likely be the alpha and a dog medium to his size would be preferred - he's just a lug.  He is house trained and travels well in the car.  He is also good on leash, but is strong if he decides to go in a different direction than you.  He is the kind of guy that will hang with you when you are doing your outside chores.    He has been fine meeting children but we wish to place him in an adult/teen home since he would most likely be protective of his home/family to strangers.  When Rocky arrived he was out of shape and showed his age and after a few months here he looks amazing, is a wonderful weight, and if we didn't know better we might guess him to be about 7-8 years old!  A couple years ago he weighed almost 150 lbs. - life style makes such a difference!  Vet notes indicate there are two masses ventral thorax - 1 cm in size each that are cyst like and lipoma like.  They were not tested and we do not have the funds at this time to get them tested.  There is a scar on one eye lid and there are scars up and down (mostly the front) of all of his legs from chewing.  The owners noted boredom, we are leaning in the boredom/stress direction.  He was chewing on them some upon arrival, but we haven't noticed it lately now that we are getting him out for fun activities and socialization.  He does have some nuclear sclerosis (old age cloudiness) in his eyes that is not bothering him at this time.  Upon arrival he had an ugly skin tag like thing under one eye that magically fell off during his antics here.  There was no blood so it was not attached very well.  Whew!  There are notes that he didn't care for the vet and his young, adult, 'sister' was not able/willing to handle him and we saw normal protective instincts when he went to our vet and someone walked up and stuck their head in the truck when he was loose....probably not the best thing to do but everyone was fine.  So, he is a normal Rottie....as he should be.  The Rocky we have with us now, after a few months, is happy, loving, well adjusted, and is in great physical condition and no longer has the shattered heart he came to us with.  Although he does need a forever home and, hopefully, that will be the last adjustment for him.  Oh, he has amazing balance and loved to Kayak and he is a good swimmer and will do about anything for a squeaky toy!  As you can tell we have grown to love him and have enjoyed his stay, but he would like more human attention than he gets here with so many others.  We've found he has too much interest in cats to live with any. Thank you for reading all this, if he is for you we would love to hear from you! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__300.00__. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Meet Nicholas! Nicholas is a handsome 1yr old mix breed pup. Nicholas came to us as an unclaimed stray. He is friendly, fun loving and very energetic. Nicholas seems to do well with the other dogs that he’s met at LHS. We are recommending older kids due to his exuberance. Nicholas will need some work on leash walking with and basic commands. His new owner should have the time , patience and energy to dedicate to him. Nicholas would be a great companion for an active owner. He would make a great walking or running partner. If you would like to give Nicolas the life he deserves , please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday 12-3p. https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/online-adoption-form

Story
For a big boy...I can move...you should see me run and pounce around the dog arena chasing a tennis ball. I am a challenged dog, I can become possessive of people and sometimes toys....and my food. I would be a project dog for who ever adopts me...I would also require a few meet and greets. I would do best in a home without children. I do like to receive attention...but if you stop giving me attention I pout.

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.You would be winning a prize to get this super duper sweet little girl.  Well she is not so little, kind of like 65 pounds and she will get about 10 bigger as she develops.  Meet BUBBLES who will cuddle and give kisses, she is loyal and loving, kind and gentle.  As part of her makeup you would be getting a non-reactive, friendly and social girl.    This sweetheart was abandoned at a park in San Antonio, TX.  So loyal that she was just sitting in the sand pit waiting for her humans to come back and get her.  After 3 days she decided she would follow her foster mom home with their dog.     Did I tell you she is affectionate and a love bug who gets along with other dogs and cats and she thinks she is a lap dog so be prepared to get all the love your have been looking for from BUBBLES, she gives the best hugs.     On the 2nd day at her foster home she allowed the 13 year old to bath and trim her nails without any fuss. Of course she runs and play like Tinkerbell with the foster's pit mix who can be kind of bossy at times but BUBBLES has no reaction towards it she just goes to play with her toys until our dog is ready to play again.   She is very comfortable sitting quietly playing with her toys and so not in the way of anything.  BUBBLES totally respects the boundaries of the cat and she is friendly with her.   BUBBLE is estimated to be approximately 1 1/2 years old and completely healthy.  She will guard your property in a curious kind of way and occasionally bark at perceived threats but isn't a big runner or barker.    BUBBLES has been in foster care for 6 weeks and her foster family simply love her but know she deserves to have a home of her own.  It would be great if she had a pet playmate but she would be just as happy as an only dog.  She would be your constant and best companion.   BUBBLES can be trusted unsupervised in the yard and has not tried to dig or escape.   If you are interested in adopting BUBBLES, please submit an application on the website below or give us a call.      www.roxysk9rescue.org          ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         October 20, 2025, 8:13 am

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet.Meet LUCAS, a wonderfully happy guy who loves everyone and plays with everyone in his foster home.  His temperament is the best, no aggression or guarding issues with him.  He actually shares his crate with a younger and smaller puppy who has attached himself to LUCAS. LUCAS is 36 pounds and will probably be a large-medium dog, at least 60 pounds.  When he was younger he looked much more like a Rottweiler but as he has grown he is showing signs of having Labrador Retriever in him but the Rottweiler is prominent.  LUCAS is currently 4 1/2 months old.  He is completely crate and potty trained.  Once he door opens to his crate he heads straight to the backdoor to go potty and he stays out there to play with everyone.  LUCAS is an equal opportunity playmate.  He loves toys and playing tug-of-war. Actually this is a sweet guy who would make any family happy to have him as their pet.  If you are interested in adopting LUCAS please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.
