Story
Khodak is a little over a year old. I got him from a breeder in North Carolina, and he is a purebred Rottweiler with the kindest heart. Anyone who truly knows Rotties knows they’re big teddy bears, and he is no exception. I always wanted a dog growing up but never had the chance to have one. When the stress of college began to weigh on me, I decided to get an emotional support dog, and he has been exactly that. Aside from the usual puppy challenges, he has brought me so much joy. It truly breaks my heart that I’m no longer in a position to care for him. I’m hoping to find him a home where he can live with other dogs, with someone who can financially support his care needs and who will continue his obedience training. Adjectives to describe Khodak: kind, gentle, loyal, affectionate, goofy, loving, clingy.

Leigh is a sweet, gentle girl who is discovering that the world is a pretty wonderful place—and she’s ready to find the people she can discover it with! Leigh can be a little shy when she encounters something new, and sudden movements may startle her. But don’t let that fool you—she’s making wonderful progress! Take her somewhere busy, like a brewery, and you’ll find Leigh happily settling down to quietly observe everything happening around her. She isn’t loud or demanding and has a lovely, calm presence. Once Leigh decides you’re one of her people, get ready for the cuddles! This girl LOVES to snuggle and soak up affection. She may need a little time to warm up, but once she trusts you, she’ll happily show you just how loving she can be. Leigh is great with kids, cats, and other dogs. She’s housetrained, crate trained, and trustworthy in the home—she’s basically got all the important grown-up stuff figured out! She’s also VERY food motivated, which means treats are an excellent way to convince her that new things might actually be pretty great. She’s eager to learn and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. Leigh is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but her future family doesn’t have to worry about the cost. Freedom Ride Rescue will continue to cover her heartworm treatment even after adoption. What Leigh really needs is someone willing to let her confidence bloom at her own pace. Give her patience, consistency, encouragement, and plenty of snuggle time, and you’ll get a devoted companion who is so happy to be yours.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abby is a 4-year-old, 65-lb Rottweiler with a loving and confident personality. She’s friendly and adores attention, especially belly rubs, and thrives when she has time to spend with her people. Abby has a moderate energy level—she loves carrying her Jolly Ball, chewing on Kongs, and enjoys daily walks. She can pull on leash at first but settles with proper exercise or longer walks. Abby is housebroken, crate trained, and mat/place trained, and is comfortable being alone for 4–5 hours during the day. She also does very well on long trips and during hotel stays, making her a great travel companion. While she is dog selective and takes time to warm up to new canine friends (she prefers low-energy dogs), she can do well in a home with a patient introduction process—or as the only dog. She hasn’t been around cats and does best with older children. Abby’s ideal home includes a fenced yard for safe play and enrichment, and an experienced adopter who will spend quality time training, playing nose work games, or just relaxing together. She’s confident, loves attention, and would make a devoted lap dog for the right person. (DOB 03/12/2024)  Raja absolutely loves other dogs and truly thrives with canine companionship. He enjoys cuddling up with his dog friends, walking beside them, and being part of the pack. Because he's so excited to meet new dogs, slow introductions help set him up for success, but once everyone settles in, he's a wonderful companion. While he could be an only dog, we'd love to see him in a home with another friendly pup to snuggle and play with. Raja is a sweet, gentle boy with a playful side that loves being with his people including car rides. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his loving personality shines through.  He's house-trained, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and loves his daily walks. Raja has not meet cats yet. He has seen squirrels on his walks but ignores them; chickens on the other hand, he's interested in. He does enjoy meeting new friends along the way. A securely fenced yard would be a bonus for playtime, but it's not a requirement. Raja would do best with someone home for a good part of the day who can help continue building his confidence and include him in everyday life. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and a love for both people and dogs, Raja may be the perfect addition to your family. As part of Raja’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
