We are seeking to rehome our dog because our family’s circumstances have changed significantly, and we want to do what is best for him long-term. We rescued him from a bad situation and helped him recover from being severely underweight to becoming healthy, safe, and loved, so this is a very difficult decision and not one based on a lack of care for him. With three children, the likelihood of our family growing, and a work commute that now takes about three hours total each day, we are increasingly unable to give him the consistent exercise, individual attention, companionship, and structured routine he deserves. We continue to meet his daily needs, but we recognize that he would thrive more in a stable home with people who have more time to devote to him. Our goal is to find him a responsible, loving family that can give him the active, attentive life he deserves.

Meet Trax, a neutered 2-year-old, 55-pound Rottweiler mix with the bounce of a rabbit and the heart of a best friend. He arrived as a stray in June, and when no one came to claim him, he started waiting for a family of his very own. We’re honestly amazed this lovable goofball is still here! Trax loves romping with dog friends, hanging out with people, and turning ordinary outings into grand adventures. With his happy energy, he’d make a fantastic hiking or running buddy, and he may even add a few surprise hops along the way. Behind the kennel door, Trax can seem a little shy at first. Bring him out to play, though, and BOING! his bouncy, joyful personality appears. We’re fairly certain there’s at least a tiny bit of rabbit hiding in that Rottweiler mix. Trax would thrive in an active home where he can join the fun. He’d be delighted to have a dog buddy, but he’s a little too interested in speedy kitties, so a cat-free home would be best. Trax is housebroken, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. His only remaining job is to pack his doggy bag and find the forever family who will love every silly, sweet hop. Come meet Trax at the shelter any day except Wednesday, between 12:00 and 4:00. Be sure to ask our staff to bring him out of his kennel to hang out so you can watch this fun boy’s personality shine!

She is completely house-trained and does well when left home alone. Baby Girl enjoys other dogs and loves to play, especially with her foster's dog. She has also been wonderful with children and is very gentle with them. Baby Girl enjoys walks and does well on a leash and harness once they're on. She is a sensitive girl who can be nervous around loud noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar situations. She does best with a patient family who will give her time to adjust and let her come to new experiences at her own pace. Baby Girl has a strong prey drive and must go to a cat-free home. A friendly, confident dog may be a great companion for her. Baby Girl has so much love to give once she knows she's safe. She may need a little extra patience in the beginning, but underneath her cautious exterior is a sweet, goofy girl who simply wants to feel loved and belong. She is waiting for someone who will see the wonderful dog she is, give her a chance, and let her become the devoted companion she was meant to be. Located in Lovettsville, VA Hi, I’m Briella! 🐾 I’m a beautiful Rottie/Hound mix with a playful personality and a lot of love to give. Toys are one of my absolute favorite things, and I’m quite the talker when I have something to say! I do wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and would really benefit from having a confident canine friend in my forever home. I’m still working on my socialization and can be nervous around new people and unfamiliar situations, but I’m making great progress and warm up quickly once I realize I’m safe. I'm even working with a foster who is also a dog trainer! One place I already feel completely comfortable is my crate — I’m a crate-training superstar and will even go in on my own when I want to relax. Young children are especially scary for me right now, so I’m looking for a home without little ones. Older, dog-savvy kids in their early teens or above may be a good fit. Because I can be nervous and may try to bolt when frightened, my new family will need to be extra careful about keeping me secure. A fenced yard is strongly encouraged and would give me a safe place to build confidence and explore. I’m looking for a patient family who understands that I may need a little time to feel safe. A secure home, plenty of toys, and ideally a doggy sibling to show me the ropes would be just about perfect. Give me a little patience and love, and I’ll show you just how sweet, silly and special I can be. ❤️

Her excitement is contagious — though she’s still learning to sit patiently for treats! This gentle girl is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to enjoy cozy time with her dog friends. She’s incredibly submissive and hasn’t met a pup she doesn’t like. When feeling overwhelmed, Fran simply retreats to her safe spot — often her bed or the kitchen. Walks can be a bit scary at first, but once she gets going, she really shines. She’s working on potty training and improving every day.
