Story
Hi… my name is Sungsim 🧡 I once had a family. But when my guardian became very ill and had to be hospitalized, I suddenly lost my home. It was a confusing and heartbreaking goodbye. Still… I didn’t lose my trust in people. I still believe in love. My name “Sungsim” means “a dog with a gentle heart.” And that’s truly who I am. I’m soft, calm, and deeply considerate. I get along beautifully with small dogs and big dogs alike. I don’t try to compete, and I don’t cause trouble. I simply know how to exist peacefully. Making friends comes naturally to me. When we go on walks, you’ll see something special about me. If you look into my eyes and say “stop,” I stop right away. When you start walking again, I match your rhythm like we’ve practiced together for years. Walking side by side, breathing in sync — it feels almost like a quiet dance. I only potty outside — 100% outdoor potty trained. Walk time is my favorite time of day. At home, I’m very calm. My energy level is low indoors, so I usually lie down quietly and rest. I don’t demand constant attention. I just like being nearby, sharing the same space. I do need a little time to fully open my heart. Not because I’m afraid — I’ll still wag my tail and come close to you. But to show you my deepest feelings, I need a bit of patience. If you give me that time, I promise my love will be steady and true. When it’s time to put on my leash, I stay still and wait politely. When you touch me, I trust you. In the elevator, I move to the corner and sit quietly like a well-mannered lady. Sometimes loud noises outside make me pause for a moment. In those moments, I just need you to be my calm reassurance. Because deep down, my nature is stable and gentle — I recover quickly when I know I’m safe. I’m really cute. Really kind. Really beautiful inside and out. If I had to describe myself in one sentence? I’m a 100-point dog, just waiting for one person to call my own. That’s why I’m looking for a family who will give me time to fully open my heart, who will enjoy peaceful walks and quiet companionship, and who will promise that this next home will be forever. Will you be the one who gives me my second forever home? 🧡🐾

Story
🏠 Currently in a Toronto foster home Samuel is a 2-year 8-month-old male Samoyed-Jindo mix, weighing 18.7 kg. At just six months old, Samuel was placed on the euthanasia list at a city shelter along with his sibling, Yuel. Thankfully, they were both rescued, and he is now staying at our training center, slowly regaining his trust in people and desperately hoping to start a new life with his forever family. Samuel’s personality is very gentle and non-aggressive. However, due to his traumatic past, he tends to be wary of strangers and takes time to warm up to new people. When he first arrived at our training center, he was very shy, but after a few days, he gradually opened up and revealed his naturally sweet and affectionate personality. Because he does not easily approach unfamiliar people and will require ample time and patience to adjust, extra care should be taken during walks to prevent any escape attempts, and household entryways should be securely managed until he fully bonds with his new family. Like a typical Jindo mix, Samuel has an independent streak. However, he also strongly exhibits the Samoyed’s affectionate nature and responsiveness to human connection. Once he builds trust, he expresses deep affection. Samuel gets along well with other dogs and has formed a particularly strong bond with his sibling, Yuel. Since they have spent so much time together, he may experience separation anxiety if they are apart, and this should be considered when adopting. He currently goes outside for bathroom breaks three times a day and enjoys running freely with his canine friends in the exercise yard. However, during the adjustment period in a new home, occasional accidents may occur. Once he settles in, he should quickly adapt to an outdoor potty routine again. It is recommended to start taking him on walks only after he has bonded with his new family. Due to his Jindo mix heritage, he has a strong homing instinct. If he is suddenly taken far away or travels by plane, he may become confused and instinctively try to find his way back home. To prevent this, walks should only begin after he fully recognizes his adopter as family. Even then, a double leash or harness is essential for safety. Samuel still carries emotional scars from his traumatic past and may be shy and cautious at first. However, for those that are willing to endure that initial period and patiently wait for his trust, Samuel will become the most loyal and loving lifelong companion.

Story
Woooooo wooo. My name is Woofy. Hoping you're the cuddly type, cuz that is the person of my dreams. Here is a little info about me: Breed: Samoyed mix Age: 2 1/2 yrs Gender: Male Weight: 20 kg/44lb Location: Vancouver Island in foster Energy Level: moderate I get along with: Dogs and kids but I don't know any cats Fears: none observed.  Training: Leash skills: I walk well on leash. House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health: Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped Highlight(s): intelligent, cuddler, sweet, happy Adoption fee: $800 plus tas About Me - I adore being held close. You'll find I am quite intelligent, as well as a kind and gentle soul. I simply and absolutely love people. More people, more love. More love, more snuggles. More snuggles, more happiness in the world.  I'm also good with other dogs and kids, too. I haven't been around any cats, so I don't know how I'd do around them.... but I am such a gentle sweetheart, it's hard to imagine I would be anything but friendly to cats. I walk well on a leash.Ideal home - An active home will suit me well. I can chill out with the best of them, but it is nice to get out for some fun activities before settling down for cuddles. My story - It was a freezing winter day in the Middle East, when my rescuer found me. I was wandering the streets; skinny, starving, covered in dirt, and soaked in mud. My eyes reflected a deep sadness. Despite my condition though, I approached her with such trust and hope, it's like I just knew someone would save me. I was trembling from the cold and hunger — all I craved was love and warmth. That moment broke my rescuer's heart. She couldn’t leave me there, abandoned and helpless, in such harsh conditions. So, she didn't, she took me to a safe place. I think I deserve a forever home where I can forget my painful past and feel safe, cherished, and loved for the incredible dog I am. I also want to show you so much love for the amazing person you are being, willing to adopt a rescue dog like me. Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and will be microchipped. Because I originally came from the Middle East my vaccinations for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. ##2254665##

Story
Hi… I’m Cony. I may look strong and steady now, but my story began much too harshly, much too early. When I was only three months old, I was tied up in a place where dogs were not loved — a place where I was never meant to feel safe. I was still just a baby who should have been beside my mother, yet all I knew was a rope and a fear I didn’t understand. One day, the rope came loose, and I stepped out into the world. But the world wasn’t safe for a tiny puppy either. I wandered until people tried to catch me. They had to use tranquilizer darts — three times. Not because I hated people. Not because I ran away from them. But because I kept going toward them. Even then, I wagged my tail. I looked into their eyes. I tried to walk closer. And somehow, that small, stubborn love in my heart gave me another chance at life. I still love people. I greet new faces with a gentle, open heart, and I get along well with other dogs too. I walk nicely on a leash, ride calmly in the car, and can stay comfortably in a flight crate if needed. I understand basic cues like sit, paw, down, and house, and I always try my best to listen. I just… really love affection. When you pet me, I might quietly ask, “Can you love me a little more?” It isn’t a behavior problem — it’s simply the tender heart of a dog who didn’t receive enough love in the beginning. Right now, I’m doing well with my potty routine. But if I move to a new home, I may have a few accidents at first. New environments can make me nervous, and I may need some time to adjust. If you guide me gently and give me patience, I promise I will learn and settle in beautifully. I’m only three years old — still young, yet I’ve already been through so much. And still, I never gave up on people. I still walk toward you. I still wag my tail. What I’m wishing for isn’t anything extraordinary — just someone who calls my name, a happy walk each day, and the quiet reassurance that says, “You’re safe now.” I hope the next chapter of my life is not about fear, but about peaceful, ordinary days filled with love. Will you be the family who writes that story with me? 🐾💛
