Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Clancy! Clancy is a 2-year-old, 40 LB Schipperke mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded CA shelter. This sweet, goofy, and loving boy is ready to find his forever family! Clancy is active, outgoing, and fun—a great dog for someone looking for medium-sized adventure buddy. He’d love to join you on hikes, runs, or any outdoor activity. He’s also very smart and will thrive with continued training, making him a great fit for someone who enjoys working with their dog. Clancy can be reactive on leash and will need a confident, experienced owner to help guide him through that with structure and consistency. With slow introductions, he does well with other dogs. He’s not a match for cats, and while he’d prefer a home without young kids, he could do well with older, dog-savvy children. Clancy has so much potential and will make an amazing companion for the right person—a dog-savvy, active home that can give him the structure, patience, and adventures he craves! Clancy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Pixie 💕 Pixie is a tiny 8-pound Pomeranian with a big personality just waiting to bloom in the right home. She may be a little shy at first, but give her time, patience, and a gentle routine — and you’ll start to see her true self come to life. Once Pixie trusts you, she’s incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’ll greet her favorite people with happy energy, zoomies, and even the occasional game of fetch or tug-of-war. And if you’ve really won her over? Expect some enthusiastic face kisses. Pixie thrives in a calm, predictable environment. She feels safest with patient people who will let her warm up at her own pace. A quieter home (with adults or calm, respectful kids) would be ideal for her. She has done well with other small dogs and may benefit from having a confident canine companion to help show her the ropes. She has also previously lived with a cat. She’s still figuring a few things out — like leash walks and new environments — so she’ll need a family committed to helping her build confidence over time. She can be a little nervous with new people and situations, but with consistency and kindness, she continues to make progress. Pixie’s care is fairly typical for her breed. Her beautiful, fluffy coat will need regular grooming and brushing to keep her comfortable and mat-free. She also benefits from a structured routine and will need some continued support with potty training. Like many small dogs, she can be sensitive during vet visits and may need a little extra support to feel at ease. Despite her small size, Pixie has a playful, silly side — including a signature move where she occasionally pops up into a little handstand on her front legs. It’s just one of the many things that makes her unforgettable. Pixie is looking for a home that will meet her where she’s at, give her the time she needs to feel safe, and celebrate all the little moments along the way. In return, she’ll be a loyal, loving companion who brings joy, laughter, and a lot of personality into your life. If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive dog to grow alongside, Pixie might just be your perfect match. 💛

Story
Meet Rainey! Rainey and his siblings were born in our care to mama Ivy. Ivy found herself in a high kill shelter at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding. She arrived with us just time to give birth to 8 healthy adorable puppies. The pups were born on February 7th and are all doing great. Their DNA test shows a mix of Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Poodle, Shih Tzu and a few other mystery breeds. They are tiny pups and will remain small. We estimate they will grow to about 10-12 lbs as adults.   Puppies are adorable but they are hard work! It's easy to fall in love with these cute faces but we hope to find them families who understand that puppies need proper socialization, training and dedicated care. They are too young to spend more than an hour or two alone and will rely on their humans to teach them gently about the world. The pups are very small - just around 2 lbs - are are not suitable for homes with very young children who may not have awareness of how fragile they are.  The puppies have received their first vaccinations, have been regularly dewormed, and are microchipped. They will be spayed and neutered between 8-12 months of age at our cost and at our vet. This procedure is not negotiable. Their adoption fee is $595. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.  We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon!
