Story
Meet Leeta
Name: LeetaAge: 5 yearsSex: Female (Spayed)Breed: Shiba MixWeight: 9.8 kg (a little chubby )Height: 32 cm (shoulder height)
Rescue Story
Leeta’s previous owner entered a nursing home. Unfortunately, his son was unable to care for her, and she was surrendered to a shelter.
People & SocializationLeeta is a gentle and affectionate dog who just needs a little time to warm up. She may be cautious at first, but after spending 1–2 hours together, she begins to trust and will lean into you for pets or gently paw at you to ask for attention.
She absolutely loves treats, which helps her bond quickly with new people. However, in unfamiliar environments, loud voices or being approached too quickly may scare her, and she may try to move away.
She is comfortable being handled by her trusted person but may avoid being picked up by strangers—especially in stressful situations (like vet visits or getting into a car). She likely just isn’t used to being lifted.
No known experience with children under 13
Enjoys affection once comfortable
Shows her belly when she trusts you
Dog SocializationLeeta’s reactions to other dogs depend on their behavior.
Gentle, calm dogs → she greets politely and may even play (play bow!)
Pushy or reactive dogs → she can become defensive (growling or reacting)
She has shown some dominant behaviors (like mounting) when first meeting new dogs and may be more assertive with smaller or younger dogs. However, she tends to settle well with calm, slightly larger, or respectful dogs.
Careful introductions are important, as she may react if another dog is aggressive or confrontational. She may growl at food from other dogs (not from people).
Cat TestLeeta has seen a resident cat at the vet. She was initially curious, but became overly excited when the cat moved, so caution and slow introductions would be needed in a home with cats.
Energy LevelModerate energyShe enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward.
Walk & Leash
Can pull on leash but generally follows her handler well
Walks nicely in quiet areas
Can be scared of busy roads and traffic
Car & Crate
Calm and quiet once inside the car (no motion sickness)
However, she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be lifted in
Calm in a kennel/crate
House Training
Mostly outdoor potty
If left too long (7–8 hours), she may use an indoor bathroom area
Personality & NotesLeeta may look like a typical Shiba, but she has a softer, more affectionate personality. She was deeply loved by her previous owner and is now adjusting to a completely new life after losing him.
Because of this, she may seem a little timid at first—but once she feels safe, her true personality shines:
Affectionate and loving
Expressive (nudging with her body or pawing gently for pets)
Smart and observant
Quiet (rarely barks)
She isn’t very familiar with toys yet, likely due to her past lifestyle, but once comfortable, she shows playful behaviors like play bows and engaging with her person.
She may hesitate in unfamiliar environments such as long staircases or large buildings, likely due to limited exposure.
Ideal HomeLeeta would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can:
Give her time to adjust and build trust
Provide calm, structured introductions to new environments and dogs
Continue working on leash manners and confidence
If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will blossom into a deeply affectionate dog once she trusts you, Leeta could be the perfect match.
