Story
Meet Blossom! Blossom and her siblings were born in our care to mama Ivy. Ivy found herself in a high kill shelter at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding. She arrived with us just time to give birth to 8 healthy adorable puppies. The pups were born on February 7th and are all doing great. Their DNA test shows a mix of Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Poodle, Shih Tzu and a few other mystery breeds. They are tiny pups and will remain small. We estimate they will grow to about 10-12 lbs as adults.   Puppies are adorable but they are hard work! It's easy to fall in love with these cute faces but we hope to find them families who understand that puppies need proper socialization, training and dedicated care. They are too young to spend more than an hour or two alone and will rely on their humans to teach them gently about the world. The pups are very small - just around 2 lbs - are are not suitable for homes with very young children who may not have awareness of how fragile they are.   The puppies have received their first vaccinations, have been regularly dewormed, and are microchipped. They will be spayed and neutered between 8-12 months of age at our cost and at our vet. This procedure is not negotiable. Their adoption fee is $595. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.  We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Laveau is a Pomeranian/Husky mix or ‘Pomsky’. She is up for adventure. She’s curious and likes to explore outside. She’s energetic and loves to play. She’s outgoing and fun and likes to watch tv in the evenings. She sleeps in a playpen. She has been good about using the potty pads. She hasn’t gone outside much as she is too busy exploring inside. She is well behaved and doesn’t see to have any bad habits. She’s very energetic, so would do well with an active family with kids. She loves the outdoors. She’s good with kids. She met a cat but just kind of watched. She is good with other dogs, cats, and children. She is food motivated. It will be fun to play with her and to introduce her to the great outdoors. She’s be a wonderful addition to any home. Imagine explaining the Pomeranian Husky to your friends. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
Barber is a 2 year old Papillon. He is a distinguished young man who has a great tail and a perfect downward dog pose. He often has 1 ear up and 1 down. He is very mellow and calm. He seems a little unsure about being a free dog, but he is also super sweet and asks for and seeks affection in a gentle and kind way. He is curious and likes to be near people. He doesn't know how to be a lap dog yet, but wants to be. He loves gentle affection. He is also trusting and not afraid of people. He's a great little dog! He often curls up in his crate or just plops down on the floor. He is unfamiliar with couches or beds. Barber is learning to go potty outside but had lots of accidents in the beginning. It's gotten much better when he needs to be taken out more frequently. He’s been going out every 2 hrs and no accidents since. He is also learning the command 'go potty' and is doing well. He is a fast learner. He is a timid little guy and a very gentle soul. I think he will need someone to help him gain confidence about being a free dog. He seems to really like his crate for naps so he would be easy to crate train. He might do best in a quiet, slow, relaxed home. He is skiddish with fast movements. He is not his ideal weight and would benefit from gaining a little weight. You can pick him up and even though he's a little unsure about it, he still allows it and enjoys being held. Good with other dogs, cats, but doesn’t have much experience with kids. He is so distinguished and somewhat reserved. The way he moves is dainty. He follows his human around the yard and if he does venture off it's really easy to get him to come back. He is also laid back and a really easy dog. He just needs more confidence and frequent potty breaks. -----

Story
PageBoy is a happy go lucky Papillon puppy. He is very sweet and demanding of attention. He loves to lick faces if you allow. He is learning stairs and figured out the dog ramp to go down to the yard quickly. He is unfamiliar with couches and beds. He can be a little shadow and is very curious about anything going on. He has lots of energy as a puppy should. He has been sleeping on the floor or in a crate. He has been going potty outside. Has only had a couple of accidents. He may have gone to the door to ask to be let out for his last accident, but his humans may need a little more training. He is a sharp cookie and will learn a new routine quickly. He's just a sweet, friendly little puppy. He is very curious about cats and wants to be friends and play. but cats don't always appreciate PageBoys gestures. He is good with other dogs. He is very sweet and friendly. He is getting a little more exploratory out in the yard but definitely thinks people are great and wants to be nearby. He has good eye contact and is always watching and ready to get up and go, and learn. -----
