Meet Leeta Name: LeetaAge: 5 yearsSex: Female (Spayed)Breed: Shiba MixWeight: 9.8 kg (a little chubby )Height: 32 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Leeta’s previous owner entered a nursing home. Unfortunately, his son was unable to care for her, and she was surrendered to a shelter.   ‍‍‍ People & SocializationLeeta is a gentle and affectionate dog who just needs a little time to warm up. She may be cautious at first, but after spending 1–2 hours together, she begins to trust and will lean into you for pets or gently paw at you to ask for attention. She absolutely loves treats, which helps her bond quickly with new people. However, in unfamiliar environments, loud voices or being approached too quickly may scare her, and she may try to move away. She is comfortable being handled by her trusted person but may avoid being picked up by strangers—especially in stressful situations (like vet visits or getting into a car). She likely just isn’t used to being lifted. No known experience with children under 13 Enjoys affection once comfortable Shows her belly when she trusts you     Dog SocializationLeeta’s reactions to other dogs depend on their behavior. Gentle, calm dogs → she greets politely and may even play (play bow!) Pushy or reactive dogs → she can become defensive (growling or reacting) She has shown some dominant behaviors (like mounting) when first meeting new dogs and may be more assertive with smaller or younger dogs. However, she tends to settle well with calm, slightly larger, or respectful dogs. Careful introductions are important, as she may react if another dog is aggressive or confrontational. She may growl at food from other dogs (not from people).   Cat TestLeeta has seen a resident cat at the vet. She was initially curious, but became overly excited when the cat moved, so caution and slow introductions would be needed in a home with cats.   Energy LevelModerate energyShe enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward.   ‍ Walk & Leash Can pull on leash but generally follows her handler well Walks nicely in quiet areas Can be scared of busy roads and traffic   Car & Crate Calm and quiet once inside the car (no motion sickness) However, she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be lifted in Calm in a kennel/crate   House Training Mostly outdoor potty If left too long (7–8 hours), she may use an indoor bathroom area   Personality & NotesLeeta may look like a typical Shiba, but she has a softer, more affectionate personality. She was deeply loved by her previous owner and is now adjusting to a completely new life after losing him. Because of this, she may seem a little timid at first—but once she feels safe, her true personality shines: Affectionate and loving Expressive (nudging with her body or pawing gently for pets) Smart and observant Quiet (rarely barks) She isn’t very familiar with toys yet, likely due to her past lifestyle, but once comfortable, she shows playful behaviors like play bows and engaging with her person. She may hesitate in unfamiliar environments such as long staircases or large buildings, likely due to limited exposure.   Ideal HomeLeeta would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can: Give her time to adjust and build trust Provide calm, structured introductions to new environments and dogs Continue working on leash manners and confidence   If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will blossom into a deeply affectionate dog once she trusts you, Leeta could be the perfect match. Story
Meet Dongree   Breed: Shiba mix Age: 4 years old Sex: Spayed female Colour: Brown Weight: 14kg Height (to shoulder): 45cm   Rescue Story   Donggree was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list and has been waiting patiently ever since for a family of her own.   She may take a few days to open up — usually between 3 days to a week — but once she feels safe, her loving and playful personality shines through. She’s affectionate with familiar people and allows gentle handling or even being lifted once trust is built.   Personality & Socialization   Donggree has the classic Shiba mix personality — a little cautious at first, independent, yet deeply loyal once she bonds with you.   She gets along well with most dogs, both larger and smaller, but can react if another dog challenges her. For this reason, careful introductions with new dogs are recommended. With friendly dogs, however, she loves to play and enjoys companionship.   Her reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet.   Energy Level & Behavior   Donggree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor walks and activities but settles calmly afterward. She walks well overall, though she may pull on the leash occasionally. Once the leash is on, she follows nicely and enjoys the walk.   She doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs and behaves quietly in her kennel. She feels anxious about car rides, so she prefers to be held during transport.   She’s comfortable using both pee pads indoors and pottying outdoors, which makes her adaptable to different home environments.   A Loyal and Independent Spirit   Donggree is a bright, affectionate girl with that unmistakable Shiba charm — loyal, clean, and quietly confident. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and consistency, she opens up to reveal a loving heart.   Once she trusts you, she’ll become your faithful shadow, following you with her signature calm energy and gentle eyes.   Ideal Home: A patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build trust. A home that appreciates the independent but affectionate nature of Shiba mixes would be perfect for her.   Donggree may take a little time to trust, but once she does, she’ll stay by your side for life — loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength. 🏠 Currently in a Seattle foster homeHi… I’m Mitsu 🤍I’ve been through a moment where everything could have ended. But somehow, I’m still here. And now, I’m waiting… not for just anyone, but for my person. My family. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s this: I truly, deeply love people. Even if we’ve just met, I’ll come up to you with my tail wagging, looking into your eyes, hoping you’ll look back at me. I love that connection—the quiet moment where we understand each other without words. Being with you makes me happy. Getting attention, feeling loved… I know those feelings well, and I want to share them with you every day. With other dogs, I’m still learning. I didn’t have many good chances to make friends before, so sometimes I can feel unsure and react a little defensively at first. But if you give me space, let me take my time… I start to soften. I’ll get curious. I’ll follow along. And before you know it, my tail will be wagging beside a new friend. I’m working hard on this right now, learning how to feel more comfortable and confident. I’m getting better every day.Still, in a brand-new environment, I might need your guidance. Because of that, I think I would feel safest as your one and only dog—your whole heart, and you’ll have all of mine. I’m smart, too. I learn quickly, especially when I’m looking into your eyes. I want to understand you. I want to be the best companion I can be.Honestly… aside from a few things I’m still learning, people often say I’m almost perfect. But what I really am, is a dog with a big heart— a heart that has been waiting to belong to someone. If you give me patience, guidance, and love, I will give you something just as big in return. No more waiting. No more uncertainty. Story
Hi future family, My name is Nuri. 😊 I’m a 2-year-old Shiba × Jindo mix girl weighing around 13kg. Before I was rescued, I was living in a shelter in Korea and was sadly at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, kind people saved me just in time. Since then, I’ve received the care and treatment I needed, and now I’m finally ready to find the forever family I’ve always dreamed of. 💛 I truly love people. Being close to humans makes me feel safe and happy, and I enjoy simply spending quiet time together. I’m usually friendly even with new people, and I love gentle attention and affection. I also get along very well with other dogs and even cats! 🐶🐱 I can fit nicely into many different types of homes — whether I’m your only dog, living with furry siblings, or joining a family with children. One of the best things about me is my calm and easygoing personality. I rarely bark, I don’t struggle with separation anxiety, and I’m not destructive around the house. I’m the kind of girl who enjoys peaceful daily life and being near my family. I walk nicely on leash and enjoy going outside for walks. I prefer doing my potty outside and do well with a regular routine. I’m also not picky with food at all — honestly, I’m just happy when mealtime comes around! I adapt relatively well to new environments too, so I could happily live in an apartment, condo, or house. As long as I’m surrounded by love and kindness, I’ll be content. 🏡 More than anything, I just want a family to call my own. After everything I’ve been through, I hope my next chapter will be filled with love, comfort, warm walks, and quiet moments together. I want to spend my life beside people who will cherish me as part of their family. I’m waiting patiently for the people who will walk beside me, make memories with me, and love me forever. Love, Nuri 🐾

Story
My name is Jessie, and I’m a 2-year-old female Shiba × Jindo mix weighing around 13kg — a comfortable medium size, perfect for sharing everyday life together. I have the sweet fox-like face of a Shiba, mixed with the sturdy and graceful charm of a Jindo. People often notice my bright eyes and calm presence first… but the longer they spend with me, the more they fall in love with my quiet affection and gentle personality. Before I was rescued, I was on the euthanasia list at a shelter. Because of that, I think I understand more than most dogs how precious a real family can be. 💛 Thankfully, even after everything I’ve been through, I still have a very kind heart. I get along well with other dogs and usually live peacefully without conflict. I can be a little shy or cautious when meeting new people or entering unfamiliar environments, but that’s simply because I’m thoughtful and careful by nature. I’m not the type to rush up to strangers right away. But if you give me patience and kindness instead of pressure, something beautiful happens — one day I’ll quietly walk toward you first, wag my tail, and decide that you are someone I can trust. And once I open my heart, I become incredibly loving and loyal. I truly enjoy being near my people and sharing quiet companionship together. Because I’ve never really experienced normal family life before, there are still many things I need to learn after adoption. The sounds inside a home, neighborhood walks, house routines, alone time, visitors, and everyday family life may all feel new to me at first. During the first days or weeks, I may seem nervous, cautious, or unsure while adjusting to such a different environment. I might make mistakes sometimes — but those moments are not “bad behavior.” They are simply part of learning and healing. What I need most is not punishment, but patience. If you gently teach me things like potty routines, leash manners, house rules, and how to feel safe with people, I know I can continue growing into an amazing companion. Jindo mixes are known for being intelligent and observant, and I’m the kind of girl who pays close attention to my human’s emotions and routines. When I feel secure and understood, I learn very quickly. In the beginning, it will help me most if my new family gives me a calm, predictable routine and a quiet safe space where I can relax. Rather than rushing me into too many new experiences at once, I would do best with gentle guidance and time to adjust at my own pace. And once trust is built, I will give my whole heart in return. I may not be the kind of dog who feels “perfect” from the very first moment. But if you are looking for a companion to grow with, learn with, and slowly become family with, I truly believe I could bring deep love, warmth, and happiness into your life. A girl who was once almost forgotten is now waiting hopefully for her forever home. Maybe that family is you. 🐾 Love, Jessie

Story
Hi there I am NalaI am a mature, self confident dog who would love to find a forever home. I live now with other dogs who I love to play with, cats who I respect and play with if they want to, and kids who like to pet me. I have not had much experience with toys, but I do love a good game of tug. I like to be active, but I am good to just chill out with you too. Nothing like an evening of cuddling with the family to make my day complete.I like car rides, I do not get sick, and I stay calm. My foster says I make a great copilot. I know all my basic commands like sit and stay and I love to walk. When I am walking with my foster I stay close and walk at their pace. If it sounds like we would be a good fit, then just fill in the application and we can meet on a Zoom call.Just waiting for you.NalaThis dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. Story
Some dogs are perfectly happy being extras. They wander through the background of life, making brief appearances and then disappearing again.Bubbles is not one of those dogs.Bubbles is absolutely convinced she is the main character. She approaches life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and the firm belief that something exciting is about to happen. She loves to play, loves to learn, and loves having someone special to follow from room to room, just in case they need assistance with whatever important activity they are doing. For the last two and a half years, however, the story has not gone according to plan. You see, every main character eventually gets to their big moment. The chapter where they find their family. The scene where they finally walk through the front door of the place they belong. The happy ending everyone has been waiting for.Bubbles has been patiently waiting for that chapter to begin. The strange thing is that she is ready for it. She is smart, fun, affectionate, and full of personality. She lights up when she trusts someone and gives her whole heart once she decides you are her person.Yet somehow, her story is still sitting on the shelf waiting for the next page to be turned.Additional chapters, photographs, and behind-the-scenes footage of Bubbles' story can be found here:https://hope4lapawz.org/wp1/bubbles-2023056DWe think it’s time someone fixed that.Bubbles isn’t looking for a temporary role or a guest appearance. She is looking for her forever family. The people who will finally give her the starring role she was always meant to have. And honestly? We’ve been waiting for that chapter, too. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. Story
HI - I'M FERNANDO, a small and timid 2-year-old mix in need of a foster or forever home. I weigh only about 35 lbs. I haven't been well-socialized in my young life so am shy/wary of new people. So I need a patient adopter who can help me come out of my shell. I am currently in Southern California, but can be transported to Washington at no extra charge beyond a nominal adoption fee. Please email for an adoption/foster application and additional photos.
