Story
Meet Ansel! Ansel’s journey is one of resilience and transformation. This sweet 10-year-old, 20 lb. gentleman was found as a stray in Los Angeles in heartbreaking condition—battling skin and ear infections, dental disease, and a host of other medical issues. He was designated “rescue only” at the Chesterfield Square Shelter, and we knew we had to act. Now a proud Frosted Face, Ansel has been lovingly nursed back to health in a foster home with an amazing member of our veterinary team. After recovering from surgery to remove masses, and receiving lots of TLC and good meals, Ansel is feeling great and is ready to find his forever home! What makes Ansel special: Super sweet and gentle Gets along great with other dogs Passed his cat test like a pro! Eats well & has great house manners LOVES attention and companionship His transformation is incredible—check out his before & after photos! Ansel is the perfect low-key companion for someone who appreciates the quiet love of a senior pup. He’s ready to share a comfy couch with his forever family. Might that be you? Story
Meet Linguini! Linguini became a Frosted Face when we rescued him from Orange County Animal Care in May 2023. Shortly after, he was adopted and spent the next two years as the cherished companion of his loving mom. Unfortunately, as her health declined, Linguini returned to us on April 23, 2025. Thankfully, within hours of his return, Linguini was welcomed into a Foster home with one of our wonderful previous adopters and volunteers. We’re so grateful that his transition back to Frosted Faces was eased by the comfort, care, and calm of a loving home. There's so much to love about Linguini! Here are some things to know: * He's good with cats and other dogs. * You can take Linguini anywhere and count on him to be quiet and well-behaved. That includes restaurants, hotels, dog parks, campsites - just to name a few! * He LOVES being outside! His foster home is in a high-rise in downtown San Diego, and his favorite hangout spot is a comfy cot (with an umbrella for shade) on the balcony. * He is up for new adventures! He went paddle-boarding with his foster mom and loved taking in all the sights and sounds! His Foster Mom, who has given Linguini the nickname Noodle, shared this latest update: "Noodle’s been with me six months, and last week he fell asleep on my chest for the first time ever! He’s not really a “lap dog” — more of a “I’ll lay next to you, maybe on your legs if you’re lucky” kind of guy. He’s an independent boy. So that little moment absolutely melted me. He often acts like he doesn’t like cuddles, but I say he secretly does - you just have to smother him! Noodle is very easy to care for and is totally chill. He eats, sleeps, and poops outside like a pro. He does great in belly bands and never tries to take it off! We just wrapped up a 1,700-mile, 15-day road trip — car camping, crashing with friends, and staying in hotels. Noodle did amazing! He loves being outdoors and would love a yard in his forever home! Noodle loves getting his steps in checking out new places, and then he settles. He is always quiet and perfectly behaved wherever we go. He sleeps like a champ, and he’s an EXCELLENT car dog — enjoys gazing out the window, getting cuddles, and snoozing. Noodle does great chilling at home alone while I'm at work. He's such a good boy and just snoozes, watches Bluey, and waits for us to come back. He gets so excited to see us! Noodle is social with all dogs and is a great with his foster sis, Shelby. He shares and rides perfectly in a stroller with her. Shelby usually initiates cuddles with him, and he is always accepting. I think Noodle could do with or without siblings in his future home. Noodle is a sweet, strong, stoic senior gent with soft fur, a big heart, and a whole lotta love left to give!" Want to meet the best little Noodle this side of the spaghetti aisle? Story
13-year-old Zuni was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society because her guardian was moving and couldn't take her along. Her guardian shared the following about Zuni: * Zuni is very sweet, friendly, and gentle. * She "grew up" alongside 3 children and "always co-existed wonderfully, always allowed the children to pet and touch all over, no issues." * Zuni was the only pet in the home but was always mellow when interacting with other dogs in the neighborhood and walks by them without reacting. * She LOVES to be petted, doesn't mind being picked up, used to going to the groomers, likes to be brushed and bathed. * As a senior gal, she enjoys sun bathing and napping. * She is great in the car! Zuni was already living in a foster home through SDHS. Her foster mom decided to continue fostering her and confirmed everything Zuni's previous guardian, adding that Zuni would do best in a one-story home because she is unable to climb stairs. All in all, Zuni is a very easy, quiet companion and would fit right into nearly any home. How about yours? Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to meet adorable Zuni.

Story
Meet Stamey! Adorable Stamey entered the Humane Society of Imperial County as a stray, and sadly, no one came to claim him. We welcomed Stamey as a Frosted Face on November 14th. He is estimated to be 10 years old, weighs 20 lbs., and is SO sweet. Stamey went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about him in a home setting. 💋 Lovebug: Stamey adores affection, soaks up petting, and gives the sweetest gentle kisses. On Thanksgiving, he visited the Chula Vista Veterans Home and was gentle, calm, and affectionate towards everyone he met. 🌟 Good Walker: He loves neighborhood strolls, yard wandering, and our weekly FFF hikes! 🍖 Treat-Motivated: He sits politely for treats and is very food-motivated—training with him will be fun and easy. 🐶 Dog-Friendly: Zero aggression. Loves greeting new dogs (with enthusiastic butt-sniffs!). Enjoys yard play and neighborhood walks with dog friends. Be sure to check out the video of him happily playing with another dog! 🏡 Good manners: He sleeps when home alone. He knows his name and comes when called. 🍽️ Food Lover: Stamey loves mealtime and will watch you eat with hope in his eyes that he might get a little treat! After meals, he rolls around on blankets, content and full. Stamey is the perfect blend of playful, friendly, and well-behaved. Whether you're looking for a walking buddy, a snuggle companion, or a dog who gets along with everyone he meets—Stamey is your guy! Story
Meet Max Mailman! Little Max's mom fell asleep in her recliner and sadly never woke up. Friends of ours from the San Diego House Rabbit Society were called to her house, because her rabbits were micro-chipped to their organization. They retrieved the rabbits and offered to help place her beloved dog, Max, too. They called us, and Max became a Frosted Face on November 9, 2022. He is 14 years old and weighs 20 lbs. We've had a bunch of Frosted Faces named "Max", so he got the fun nickname Max Mailman because he is so friendly, and his ears are in the wind as he "rushes from house to house," more like person to person seeking pets in the yard! Like many seniors, Max is vision impaired, but he at least sees shadows. It doesn't slow him down either! Max Mailman loves going on our weekly FFF hikes, and he glides along the trails gracefully with his long legs. He acts younger than his years! Max is a super sweet, fun-sized guy who has lived with bunnies, dogs, cats, and horses! He has been living in a Foster home since December while he waits for his forever family. His Foster Mom shares: "Max is the perfect companion! He just wants to be close to his person. He enjoys laying on the couch with me, but he also sleeps in his dog bed. Max is very friendly with people and is always wagging his tail. He does so well in a home! Max seems to like all food and likes to be left alone while eating. He loves to run when he is outside to go potty. While he does sometimes have accidents inside, it's manageable by taking him outside frequently and using diapers. Max doesn't like my cats, because due to his poor vision, he can't always see when they're nearby. He will try to chase them if he sees one, but he's too slow for them though! Max is a great guy, very quiet and always ready to give kisses & tail wags. He just wants someone to love. He follows me around the house all the time. He loves hanging out in the kitchen. He enjoys napping most of the day and sleeps well through the night." Max Mailman has a great foster home, but he is still looking for his forever home. Might it be with YOU?

Story
14-year-old Coffee Jane was surrendered to the Downey Shelter by her previous owner for unknown reasons. On September 29th, we scooped her up to become a Frosted Face. Coffee Jane went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about her in a home setting. Her Fling Mom reports: "Coffee Jane is a perfect little angel! She's a great eater and sleeps through the night on the couch. We walk about 1 to 2 miles daily, and she loves it! Coffee Jane learned how to use a dog door and takes herself potty whenever she wants! It's pretty impressive how she got the hang of it doesn't have any accidents in the house. Coffee Jane has no separation anxiety but gets very excited when you come home. She joined us on a road trip and did pretty well in the car! She had a bigger dog friend there, and they did great with each other! Coffee Jane might be a little hard of hearing, so she’s a great sleeper. She follows me around the house and is a perfect little snuggle bug!" Be sure to watch the great videos of Coffee Jane playing with toys, going for a walk, and enjoying pets and a belly rub.
