Story
Twiix is looking for an active, loving person or family who will make him part of their daily life. He thrives on playtime, multiple games of fetch, short walks, and plenty of affection. Left alone longer than 4–6 hours, he gets lonely—he really wants to be where the action is. He’s a spirited little watchdog, barking at squirrels, delivery trucks, even the TV—though never aggressive. Give him his favorite chew toys, and he’s happy, but without them he’ll remind you with a pillow or blanket nibble. He’s fully potty-trained, a clever escape artist if off leash, and absolutely loves window-watching. At night, he’ll curl up in bed with you, snuggle on the couch, or ride along in the car—wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be. He delights in short walks, doggy playdates, and even sharing a bite of your meal (we admit, we spoil him!). Most of all, Twiix has a big heart, is deeply in tune with human emotions, and will love you with everything he has. ❤️

Story
Layla Lily is a lively, loving 2-year-old poodle mix with a big heart, big energy, and endless devotion to her humans. Housetrained, crate trained, and always ready for fun, she thrives with active adopters who enjoy playtime, outdoor adventures, and keeping her mind busy. She’s a great walker, a good listener, and loves playing ball in the yard. After fun and exercise, she melts into a kind, gentle companion who adores affection and being near her people. Layla forms deep bonds and can be protective of the ones she loves, so she’s best suited for a home with limited visitors and patient adopters who can help her navigate her “stranger danger” with positive guidance. She’s expressive and vocal — she likes to let you know how she feels — and her personality shines through in everything she does. Layla can be selective with other dogs and will need to be the only dog in the home. With the right environment — calm, structured, and understanding — she can be an angel. She has shown she can do well with children, especially in a respectful, low-stress setting where she feels safe. Layla Lily currently weighs about 46lbs., is approximately 2 years old (est. birth date 08/30/2023), and her adoption fee is $510. Layla Lily has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. Story
Meet Kuro! Kuro is a 5-year-old Poodle/Retriever mix with the softest curls, the sweetest eyes, and a heart that’s been waiting a long time for the right person to love. He’s housetrained, crate trained, and once he settles in his crate, he relaxes well. Kuro is one of those dogs who forms a deep, meaningful bond with his people. He is incredibly affectionate—leaning in for cuddles, following you from room to room, and soaking up every bit of love you offer. He just wants to feel safe and connected to his person. Because Kuro cares so deeply, he can sometimes feel the need to guard things that matter to him. For that reason, he’ll thrive best in a calm, adult-only home with no young children, where his boundaries can be respected and his confidence can continue to grow. Although he gets along with other dogs, he would do best to be the only dog in the home, where he can relax and truly be himself. Kuro isn’t a dog who wants the whole world—he just wants his person. Someone patient, kind, and steady. Someone who will give him the security he’s been searching for. In return, he’ll give you unwavering loyalty, gentle affection, and a companionship that feels truly special. Kuro currently weighs about 20 lbs., is approximately 5 years old (est. birth date 02/21/2020), and his adoption fee is $510. Kuro has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Kuro, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Story
A ‘SPECIAL NEEDS’ HAPPY PUP:  Approx. 10 – 11 months old / Approx. 16 lbs. & growing  Hi, my name is Melanie!  I’m a special girl with a big heart — one that’s working harder than most. I was born with a significant heart condition that is expected to shorten my time here to around 3 to 4 years, but I’m determined to fill every single day with love, cuddles, and joy as I believe in living life to the fullest.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along very well with the dogs in my foster home. I would likely enjoy another dog to play with in my new home, so if you have a nice doggie who would like a puppy friend, but that would also not overwhelm me, let’s meet! / I met 2 kitties when I was very young, and my regular foster thinks I may be a bit too playful for kitties. / I like the teen kids I’ve met in my foster home and think older kids like this will be best for me due to my heart condition.  I didn’t care for some younger kids I met in my foster home, so if you have calm older kids, let’s meet!   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a happy-go-lucky pup with a sweet, lovable personality and a playful spirit that shines brightest when I’m around people. I’m not a big cuddler, and at times I’m a loner, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love being near you — I just like to enjoy your company in my own way. I’ve got some puppy energy, but because of my heart condition, I’d like a calmer home where I can play and explore without too much overexcitement.  My foster says I have a great personality and an easygoing charm, and I think once you meet me, you’ll see what a special little pup I am. / My energy level in my foster home is quite high at 6-8, though it will likely lower as time goes on. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a pretty bright girl and already know the ‘sit’, ‘outside’ and ‘lie down’ commands.  I bet you can teach me even more! / My crate manners are excellent in my foster home. / Potty training is coming along, but due to the medications I’m on, it’s a bit of a challenge for me.  I know when I’ve had an accident, but I just can’t always hold it — especially first thing in the morning, when I might need a quick carry outside to avoid leaving a trail.  So, know that there will be accidents and let’s work together to make them as few as possible.  Because of my frequent need to go out to potty, a stay-at-home or work-from-home family member is needed.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  It’s hard to pick just one favorite, because as a happy-go-lucky pup, I love so many things — people, toys to play with and chew on, and soaking up a little sunshine outside with my family!  I’m sure we’ll discover even more things we’ll love doing together! / My foster says I get startled by things that are new to me.  Kibble in a metal bowl is suspect to me, and I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, light exercise and training. • MEDICAL:  I’m current on my annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m on a heart medication called Vetmedin and I’ll need to stay on it for life.  My foster does some heart/stomach measurements that are an indicator as to how I’m doing, and these should be done in my new home – just ask about this.  I’ll need heart checks at UGA periodically and Mostly Mutts will pay for the one in December 2025 or January 2026.  I’m looking for a home with a cardiac knowledgeable family that understands my medical needs.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    October 30, 2025, 4:23 pm

Story
A TOTAL SWEETIE PIE:  Approx. 9 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. Hi, my name’s Yukon!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I’ve been enjoying myself in a great foster home and am now ready to find a home of my very own.  Plan to meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member!    • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’ve met a couple of female dogs in my foster home and gotten along well with them – when another family member brought their female dog over for Thanksgiving, there was lots of excited sniffing and a little barking at first, but after about 30 minutes, I accepted them into the house, too. I haven’t been around male dogs yet, and I probably wouldn’t do well with a dog who gets jealous, since I like to be in the middle of all the attention, whether it’s my attention or the other dogs.  If you have a pup who doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight with me, then let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over as I do jump up at times.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  Things are going great in my foster home, and my foster says I am ‘such a sweetheart’ who just wants to be close to my people.  I am an absolute love bug who enjoys collecting cuddles.  I seem to be a ‘veteran bather’ as I soaked up all the love that came along with a good spa bath wagging my tail with joy.  During snuggling time, if you slow down with the petting, I will nose bump you to keep the petting coming.  Sweet and friendly, I’m sure to charm my new family with my loving and happy personality. / My energy level is 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am familiar with the following commands in my foster home, and they are helping me polish up on them: ‘sit’, ‘stay', ‘wait’ ‘uh uh’ and ‘go lay down’.  I take treats very roughly at the moment and my foster is working on that with me, too (watch out fingers).  I also have good leash manners. / I will go in a crate when my foster offers me a treat, though I really have not needed a crate in my foster home. / My potty habits have been great in my foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A super affectionate guy, I especially love those great belly rubs.  Another favorite pastime is just chilling with my people – curling up on the couch.  I also love chewing on my toys.  Be sure they are true chew toys, because I will ‘defluff’ the plush ones in a hurry – lol. / I don’t like being away from my people much.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’ve just had a dental cleaning, so my mouth is fresh again!  I’ve started a new diet – Hill’s Science Diet ID for digestive care for tummy upset and I have some staining around my mouth and feet, but it will grow out. I am looking for a great home with a loving furever family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 5, 2025, 7:21 am

Story
AN ADORABLE FRIEND:  Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 21 lbs. & needs to lose weight Hi, my name’s Palmer!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I’m so happy to be here getting all the love and good care that I needed (see medical section below). I got to spend some time in a temporary foster home and enjoyed that very much and now I’m back at the shelter dreaming of finding my very own family!  The shelter is a bit stressful for me, so hopefully I won’t have to wait too long.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I spent the Thanksgiving holiday in a great foster home and got along just fine with the older dog who lived there.  We just sniffed each other and went about our business.  If you have a nice doggy at home that isn’t looking for a playmate, let’s meet! / I was curious about the kitty in my short break foster home, but they were not interested in me, so we co-existed together well. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another cat. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super sweet guy with a fairly laid back and chill personality.  The volunteers also say that I’m happy to be with them, cuddly and adorable, and that I’ll bring lots of joy to my new family.  I was curious and well-behaved in my temp. foster home, happily showing off my friendly demeanor. / My energy level is 4-6 (a little lower in my temp. foster home).  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I was familiar with both the ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ command in my temp. foster home, and I look forward to learning even more!  Check back soon to see what I have mastered. / I’ve had good crate manners, both at the shelter and in my temp. foster home. / I’ve only had a few accidents on the shelter schedule and had good potty habits in my temp. foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I have a great sniffer and love to explore my surroundings with my nose, so let’s go on some ‘discovery walks’ together.  Not only will it be fun, but it will also help me drop a few pounds, which I need to do to reach my healthy weight. I love long naps and all the cuddles that come from being with my people! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’ve just had a dental cleaning, so my mouth is fresh again! I’m on the green bean diet at the shelter to help me lose some weight and I take an over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs. The shelter is a bit stressful for me, so I’m taking an anxiety medication that I think I’ll be able to wean off once I’m settled in my new home.  I had a large lipoma/fatty mass on my neck, and it has been removed and my fur is starting to grow back in that area now.  I’m not wearing a collar yet, but a harness while I continue to heal.  I also have a grade 2 heart murmur that doesn't need medication at this time.       I am looking for a great family to give me a loving, furever home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 5, 2025, 6:37 am
