Story
Texas adoption only Bramble is the ultimate companion dog for your dog that you didn't know you need. He is a happy adult dog, 17# scruffy little terrier, who loves to cuddle & play with other dogs. He is also fine with the company of cats. Humans though, take longer to earn his trust due to Bramble's traumatic past. With patience & time, he will eventually come up to you for gentle head pets...as long as you don't look at him! He is enthusiastic about food, will take treats from your hand, likes routine. Although timid, he is NOT a biter. He even occasionally enjoys bathing & brushing. Bramble is so deserving of a safe & loving home with at least one doggie buddy. Is that home yours? Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Johnny can be shy at first, but warms up quick. He wants to always be with his people and needs a family who is mostly at home. He would make a great sleeping buddy! He's enjoying chewing antlers and playing with a small tennis ball in his foster home, and he doesn't seem to mind the other dogs after a slow, controlled meet. Johnny will potty outside or on pee pads. No small kiddos for this guy. He is untested with cats as well. He would benefit from an experienced dog owner who can keep him in check and help him be the best dog he can be.

Among her people, Winnie is confident, affectionate and gentle. She loves chasing around her foster family's two year old and shoving her head into laps for petting. Despite her adorable looks, Winnie adores chasing after tennis balls in the house or yard for hours and taking long walks. She is highly food motivated and has learned commands and recall with ease. For avid hikers and walking enthusiasts, she is a delight on leash and as a high-energy breed, she demands exercise. Winnie is nervous around strangers and has some destructive behaviors due to separation anxiety. She is perfectly happy in her crate with company in the room and would prefer a home active enough to meet her exercise needs where at least one human is home regularly. She prefers to eat with company and is an enthusiastic chewer when provided with appropriate things. She is protective of her toys with other dogs and small children, but very gentle when she is upset. As Winnie is a Poodle, it's also important that prospective adopters understand that she needs to be brushed regularly and groomed every 6-8 weeks to keep her gorgeous coat in healthy condition. Story
Cromwell- Poodle mix male, ~ 6-8 yr. (March 2024) Please email rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application _______________________________________ Meet Cromwell! Cromwell’s backstory: We were contacted by an animal control facility we partner with, asking us to help this dear boy get out of the facility safely. He had been neglected for quite some time, and he arrived underweight and heavily matted. He had an eye infection that needed immediate attention. He needed to be neutered as well as have a dental. He has spent several weeks recuperating, and we were able to get him all of the attention and procedures he needed. He is ready for his second chance at life! Breed and Hair Notes: Cromwell has hair that grows and not fur. He is a stunning blend of Poodle... and we are not certain what else! He is one-of-a-kind and very special. He is agreeable to baths at home, and he is very well-behaved at the professional groomer. They love him there! He is grateful to be taken care of after years of neglect. PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Cromwell: Cromwell is approximately 6-8 years old and about 17-18 pounds. This is an estimate from two veterinarians who have examined him, though his age is a guesstimate. He is currently being taught to go potty outside on walks by his foster family, and he's catching on very well. Cromwell's previous life did not consist of much exercise or movement, and he is making up for it! Despite years of neglect, he now LOVES going outside and going for walks! He is exuberant about it daily. He has bone spurs on his spine due to something happening to him in his previous life. The X-rays show where they are located. With daily exercise and glucosamine supplements, he's doing very well and ready to gain some more strength! Cromwell is currently taking Vetmedin and Furosemide for congestive heart failure. He has a grade 2 heart murmur, according to the doctor who did his dental and got to know him well. He will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life. Thankfully, Vetmedin is a miracle drug, and it gives quality of life and time in dogs with a murmur. Cromwell also has dry eye and needs daily drops for it. He has trouble hearing quiet sounds, but he can hear louder noises. Cromwell is described as a very happy and loving boy. He attaches quickly to people who show him love and respect. The foster family has a granddaughter who visits often, and they love each other very much. He would fit well in a family where the children are very experienced around animals and understand how to respect them. Cromwell loves to follow the sun every morning and take his post breakfast naps in the sunlight streaming through the windows. Cromwell loves to be cuddled and fall asleep in someone's arms. Ideal Home: Cromwell is a pretty laid-back guy, though he has an excitement for life! A quiet and calm home is ideal, not one that has a lot of people coming and going in it. If you expect to put Cromwell in a crate at all during the day or night, please do not apply. He will flourish in a home where he can hang out with his people during the day and sleep near them at night. He's been neglected for many years. We want him to have a family that will be there for him as much as possible. Ideally, his people should work from home or be retired. Cromwell can successfully be in a home where he is the only dog, though he lives in a foster home with two cats. We all believe he'd love a dog brother or sister, though! He had a foster sister dog for a while, and they got along well. He tends to prefer quieter, calmer dogs. Large and high energy dogs are not a good idea for him as they make him a bit nervous. Cromwell is an "old soul" who has seen and been through an awful lot in his short time so far here on this earth. We look forward to meeting the family who will make up for the time he spent being neglected. We want nothing more than to see him in a home where he is loved for who he is and doted upon 24/7! Will it be you? Let's find out! Cromwell is fostering in MD. His adoption fee is $500 to help cover the medical expenses of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication. The first step in our process is to submit an application for review. Once approved, we will contact you to arrange a meeting at our next Meet and Greet event. Our pets are fostered in private homes and will be brought to Frederick, MD to meet approved adopters. PLEASE ALLOW 24-48 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE.
