Story
“CHARLIE” is a 5-year-old (03/03/2020), black, AKC Miniature Poodle who has that old-fashioned long in body, short in leg look. He weighs a healthy 19 pounds and stands at 14” tall. He sadly came to us as his beloved senior owners died within a few months of each other.
This pretty boy was deeply loved and well card for. However, he spent most of his time inside the house. So, when he came to us, it took him a few days to adjust to the idea of going outside.
Now Charlie greatly enjoys going for his daily 1 to 2 mile “w-a-l-k” so he can see all that is going on in this beautiful world. We must spell that word, otherwise he gets so excited and will not leave us alone until we grab his leash and take him for his “w-a-l-k”.
Charlie is super friendly and becomes excited to meet people, especially men. Sit down and he will jump into your lap so he can snuggle up to you. He will also quickly jump onto our bed knowing when it’s bedtime. However, we do not sleep with our Poodles, so Charlie is just fine sleeping in his kennel at night and when we are gone.
He is fine with all our other Poodles, including our Standard Poodle, Lola. But Charlie is NOT looking for another dog friend as he has been an only dog all his life. He now considered himself a family member and not a pet. Your loving attention, warm hugs and a lap to sit in make Charlie happy.
This is a smart boy who knows where the toys are and greatly enjoys playing with them when he needs to do his Poodle “zoomies” (as seen in the video on our web site).
He is food motivated, knows all about treats and greatly enjoys watching TV, especially America’s Funniest Home Videos (AFV). When dog videos come on, he’s right there watching all the dogs doing their funny acts.
One of Charlie’s strangest quirks is that when something comes onto the TV that he does NOT like, he will growl and let you know. We are still trying to figure out what he sees and why it upsets him!? He also doesn’t like you when you try to take his toys away from him. Hmmmm….
*Preference will be given to a family with a SECURLY FENCED YARD.
*You must be physically able to handle 18-pound Poodle.
*Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience.
BUT PLEASE:
*NO puppies or cats.
*NO aggressive or assertive dogs (they scare him and me).
*NO young children.
*Like most rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota.
Yes. This is a very rare opportunity for the right family as we all know that a good Poodle is hard to find.
Charlie has been neutered, teeth cleaned, is up to date on his vaccinations, worming, heartworm/Ehrlich/ Anaplasmosis (4DX) tested negative, placed on a heartworm preventative, and Home Again microchipped.
While Charle is completely house trained (no accidents) and will go outside, we did notice he was having a difficult time relieving himself. A urine sample showed he had a severe urinary tract infection. After weeks of antibiotics, his infection went away, and he sure felt a lot better. So, do you know how painful a UTI can be?
We recently had an ultrasound done and were reassured that he did NOT have any bladder stones. So now, it’s best that Charlie remains on his prescription dog food, “Royal Canine SO”, to prevent any more UTI’s.
As with all the other Poodles we have adopted, Charlie’s adoption fee is 1 million, trillion, zillion dollars. However, for the right family his adoption fee is $500.00 which includes $34.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax and helps pay for just some of his Vet work.
Also included is his leash, collar, a bag of quality Royal Canine SO dog food, a 10-gallon dog food container, treats, a cute toy box, his wire crate, a dog bed along with lots of his old and new toys, and lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw!
Again, Charlie is a very nice, smart, silly and friendly Poodle boy who wants and truly deserves a loving “forevermore” home.
