Winston has had a rough start on the streets and was unfortunately attacked by another stray dog. Despite this, he is a sweetheart who just wants love and cuddles. Winston is wonderful in the crate and considers it to be his safe space. He walks nicely on the leash and has come to absolutely love walks around the neighborhood. He is a bit cautious when meeting new humans, but can be won over with treats. Winston is a lounger more than a player, but he will co-exist with other calm dogs. Because of his cautious nature, Winston would do best in a home without kids or high-energy dogs. He has done great with cats in the home. Winston will need some support with basic command training, housetraining and just getting used to the home. Given his background, he can take some time to feel comfortable, but once he does you can expect a loyal companion who is always available for cuddles! Winston is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am-11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

Waffle was found abandoned in a neighborhood. With no information on his past, it's hard to know what Waffle has gone through, but he is ready to find his happily ever after. Waffle is a good dog, but he does have some areas to be aware of. He resource guards people, so will need a family willing to work on this with him. He can be testy if other dogs get too close to his person; because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home. Waffle hasn't met cats, but is likely to do fine with them. Upon meeting other dogs, he is playful, relaxed and interested. He does love to play chase and tumble with other dogs! Waffle is wonderful in his crate and is fine with being leashed but needs some practice walking nicely. One funny quirk is when he sleeps, his bottom lip relaxes and he shows sleep teefers. It's adorable. If you're willing to work on a few things to help Waffle feel secure, then he can put his best paw forward and become his best self! In return, you will have a loyal friend and the best cuddler. Waffle is from Texas. 💜 Come meet me at our Adoption Event at Washington Square Bar & Grill in White Bear Lake on Monday, 9/7 from 4 - 6:30pm! 💚 Age: Approximately 1 year and 8 months Weight: 18lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Yes, on a schedule Crate trained: Yes Hello friends (because I consider everyone to be my friend)! I’m Lunicera, but you can call me Lucy. My foster family says that I’m the cuddliest dog around. I will often stand on my hind legs in order to get picked up or to get your attention. I love to be held like a baby in your arms, sit by you on the couch, or follow you around. I also LOVE to play! I will fetch a ball in the yard, play chase with any dog around or find a way to make a friend. I also love walks…I get so excited when I see the leash and harness, and I can’t help but leap and dance around. I love to sleep with someone. Sometimes it’s my foster dog brother or a human, but I don’t love to be alone. I’ll go into my crate to take a short rest and I’m fine in the crate when my family is away, but I get so excited when they all come back home! My foster family says I’m getting better at potty training. I’m good in a schedule, and I’m learning to ring the bells by the door to go outside. I mostly go out when other people or dogs go out. Will you be my forever family? Lunicera would be okay as an only dog, if her family was home often and she could get lots of attention/playtime from them! Adoption fee: $795
