My name is Yoko. I came from Garland Texas under the hospice program. But after addressing his medical concerns, I am becoming a senior adoptable. A few words from his foster: Yoko is a senior dog that came from Texas in July. He is vision impaired, sweet and smart. He is housebroken and does well on a schedule. Mostly after he eats he needs to go out fairly soon after. He does get daily eye drops and can give some tips to give them easy. He is a good sleeper. He can go up the stairs with no problems, is best to be carried down stairs and he has learned to navigate his way around really well with very limited eye sight. A baby gate would be best to limit his space if you have stairs just to start and he would do fine with being kenneled when gone. He is turning into a happy little dog, who loves to snuggle and go for walks. He likes going on short walks. He loves to wander around and sniff everything. He really is a special dog, everyone that meets him just love him. He likes getting all the pets and attention but does like his own space especially when he is sleeping. He is just a sweet, mellow boy who gets along with both my dog and cat so no issues if there are other animals in the house. Medical Bio/From the Vet: We are so excited that Yoko is ready to find his forever home. He has been in rescue for a little over 1 year, and in that time we have been able to successfully manage his medical conditions. He had glaucoma in both eyes, one of which could not be successfully managed, so treatment was removal of the eye. His left eye is managed on two medicated eye drops. His hyperthyroidism is well managed on an oral medication called Levothyroxine. Bloodwork is recommended every 6 months while on this medication to account for any dose changes that may be needed. He has been started on 2 different anti-anxiety medications to help with some fear based reactivity. The estimated total cost of Yoko's medications would be approximately $50. We hope that we can find him a perfect spot to land to be spoiled and loved in his golden years!

He may start out skittish, but once he chooses his person, he becomes a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close. Rigel tends to feel more comfortable around women and can be unsure of men at first, sometimes barking or growling when he’s nervous. With consistency and calm reassurance, he settles and has even been known to curl up next to his foster dad once he feels safe. Now that he’s gaining confidence, Rigel is beginning to show his playful side. He loves small stuffed toys, nightly chew sessions with bully sticks or pig ears, and cuddling on the couch or in bed. He enjoys being out and about as long as his trusted person is right beside him, and he rides quietly in the car. Rigel does best with another dog in the home—preferably one similar in size—who can help him continue learning how to be a confident house dog. He has lived with cats and done well, and he gets along with most dogs, though he avoids pushy or cantankerous personalities. A fenced yard is important for him, as he loves the freedom to explore safely. Potty training is coming along nicely with a schedule, and he knows cues like “outside” and “go potty.” Crates are not his favorite and he takes time to settle, but he does well when riding in one in the car. Rigel is a sweet, intelligent little dog who blossoms with patience. Once he bonds, he is affectionate, cuddly, and devoted. He will thrive in a calm home with considerate older kids or adults, a gentle canine companion, and someone willing to give him the time he needs to trust. With the right family, Rigel will become the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be. He’s looking for a calm, patient family who will let him move at his own pace and celebrate his many little wins. Jasper loves going for walks and is just starting to discover the joy of toys and treats. He’s learning quickly—working on sit for treats and making good progress with potty training. He’s doing well peeing outside and is still figuring out the pooping part, with a few accidents as he learns the routine. This handsome guy has recently found his voice! He can howl, bark, and whine, though he doesn’t use it much—he just likes knowing the option is there. He’s also incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves sitting in laps. Jasper can be hesitant with transitions like doorways, gates, and stairs. He’ll go up steps but not down yet, and while he can come in from the backyard, the front door is still a challenge. He’s very close, though, and gaining confidence every day. In the mornings, he greets his people with tail wags from his kennel and gets right up to the gate—he just needs a little extra encouragement to take that final step out. Once he’s been outside and finished his business, Jasper runs like the wind—he’s fast, agile, and clearly excited to get back inside where he feels safe and cozy. Jasper does guard his food and will bark if another dog comes too close during meals, so he’ll need thoughtful management and a home willing to continue working on this with patience and consistency. Overall, Jasper is a fun, loving little guy who is trying hard and making steady progress.
