Story
Needs special diet, Biome. Fights other female dogs. Barks at other dogs. Fights with her half-sister, my other Shar-pei, sometimes over good or water. Good watchdog. Barks if someone goes past. Used to having a pet cat and rat in the house. Likes to roll in the grass, chew on sticks, and run around. Nervous around toddlers. About 5 years old. Snapped at my one-year-old granddaughter when the toddler tried to touch her as the dog was lying on the sofa. She was my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren's dog from age 4 months. My daughter died in a car accident in 2022, and Nikko came to live with me, because my son-in-law said it was too much. I already had Nikko's half-sister, Sylvie, who was actually my grown son's dog who was left at my house when he moved out. Nikko has started several fights with Sylvie over the last few years. My son and daughter in law and 13 month old granddaughter are living with me temporarily , and I am afraid that Nikko might bite the grandchild.

Story
Current Location: Hanover, PA Hello! My name is Skull Skull is a sweet guy, gentle by nature, but he doesn't know what a leash is or why someone would want to hold one. He is doing okay, at least on the outside. Inside, though, he has no idea what it means to be a pet, to be someone’s family. That kind of life is still a mystery to him, and he has so much to learn. He figured out the stairs quickly, as if solving small problems was something he’d always had to do on his own. He needs gentle training, yes—but more than that, he needs patience, love, and care he had never been given. His body is thin, his muscles untested, his curiosity almost aching as he noses into everything, trying to understand a world that is new. With all the love he never had, he still has so much love left to give. He would make a wonderful family member—if only someone would finally teach him what family means.

Story
Current Location: Gettysburg, PA Hello! My name is Olive! Olive is a calm, laid back sweetheart who has truly mastered the art of relaxation. She is gentle, quiet, and content to enjoy the simple things. A soft dog bed, a warm spot in front of the wood stove, and a peaceful home are her idea of perfection. She walks beautifully on a leash and prefers short, easy outings followed by long stretches of lounging. Olive is happy spending time in her kennel or curled up in her bed, watching the world go by. She does not need much exercise and would thrive in a quiet, low key household. Olive has been fostered with kids and other dogs and has been a lovely, steady companion to all. She is sweet with children, polite with dogs, and relaxed when meeting new people. At ten years old, this Shar Pei girl brings all the charm of her blonde folds and wrinkles, along with a wonderfully expressive face full of character. Olive is ready for a calm life of comfort and companionship. She would be a perfect match for someone looking for a peaceful, loving presence to share their home and their heart. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Weighing about 60 pounds, Scooby is the perfect size for a family dog—big enough for adventure but not too large to curl up at your feet. Personality Scooby is a gentle, affectionate boy who loves people and attention. His big heart shows through in his wagging tail and soft eyes. He’s calm when handled, enjoys affection, and is happiest when he’s near his humans. Scooby loves chin rubs! Ideal Home Scooby would thrive in a loving home where he can get daily walks, a soft bed, and plenty of cuddle time. Scooby’s story is still being written, and he is ready for his next chapter with a forever family. If you are looking for a loyal, sweet, and steady companion, Scooby is your dog.
