While her past may not have been easy, she’s slowly discovering how wonderful life can be — and she’s ready to find a patient, loving family to continue that journey with her.     June can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but don’t let that fool you — this sweet girl warms up faster than you’d expect, especially if you come bearing her favorite treat:  cheese!  June would thrive in a calm, understanding home where she can build confidence at her own pace. The best part? June is housebroken, crates beautifully, and didn't bark when she was in a foster home. She also gets along great with other dogs and even cats, making her a fantastic addition to a multi-pet household.     Apply today to come meet June and you'll see just how sweet a shy girl can be! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Meet Danny Boy! He has a heart of gold and a real penchant for couch snuggles. Danny is built around a head of truly remarkable scrunchy proportions ~ an architectural achievement that then required the installation of two enormous satellite-dish ears to properly stabilize it. The result is an ear span so impressive it occasionally receives signals from rooms he is not currently in. And yet, for all that heavy equipment, Danny uses it almost exclusively to listen for kind words and compliments. Danny is soft, affectionate, and deeply committed to earning as many gold stars in a day as possible. He believes couches were invented for shared sitting, beds for shared sleeping, and personal space for other families who don’t live here. He loves being pet and prefers staying close to his humans. His top criteria for his forever home is that his humans be home with him most of the time and love snuggling as much as possible. Danny enjoys walks (ideally about 20-minute ones) and loves meeting new people when he's out and about. He does a happy dance complete with prancing when his foster mom takes his leash out, or when he's about to be fed. He especially loves treats and wet food. Danny is living with both another dog and a cat in his foster home. He gets along well with both of them, though he doesn't show much interest in them unless they initate sniffing or play. He also gets along beautifully with children, walks well on the leash, and is a great copilot in the car. Danny has made excellent progress on his housetraining, although he is still using potty pads some of the time. He sleeps well through the night (and a decent portion of the day!). He doesn't mind staying home if his people have to go out for a bit, but he would much rather you be home with him. Danny is currently recovering from an ear infection and exposure to some tick-borne illnesses, but treatment is fairly straightforward and both issues should soon resolve. His vision and hearing are no longer 100% but he gets around fairly well. He does have some trouble navigating stairs, so he may need a helping hand if his forever home has them. If you'd like every morning to begin with two enormous ears slowly rising over the horizon (covers) at the sound of their favorite person waking up, Danny is your man. Danny is approximately 12 years old and 60 lbs. Fostered in Dunn Loring, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Current Location: Sykesville, MD Meet Scully 💕 1 to 2 year-old, handsome, sweet guy. He's got a big heart and a happy-go-lucky attitude. He is a silly boy that loves to play with anyone or any thing that will play with him. Even though Scully is an adult dog he acts like a 50 lb puppy. So he will need an active family and maybe another dog to play with. He likes walks, is friendly to EVERYONE he meets, does well in public places, and love to play with toys. He is great in his crate and snores the night away inside. He is also crated during the day without issue. He has been a big brother to several puppies in his foster home and is always gentle with them. He even lets them win at tug o' war. He is best in a home with another smaller dog and with a fenced yard as he needs to run and play. We are working on him NOT jumping on people, and he can be very mouthy especially when excited. He will need consistency in training to stop these 2 behaviors. He would do best in a family with older children as he does not realize his size or strength. So if you want a "Big Boy" who will happily ride in your truck and hang out in the park or cafe with you, then adopt this sweet, trusting, ingenuous dog today. - Good with dogs, puppies and little dogs - Good with cats - Crate trained - Potty trained - Very lovable and playful - Would do best in a home with a fenced yard - Prefers smaller dogs to be friends with (bigger dogs kinda scare him...lol)

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Mira is 5-7yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Mira can sit and stay and guardian was working on crate training until guardian's disability occurred.  Mira roams around the house close to her guardians and is left alone at home up to 4 hours per day.  At night, Mira sleeps downstairs on the couch or one of the bedrooms.  She dislikes/fears strangers coming to the house, especially women.  Also, Mira loves car rides. Mira's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Mira's guardian is no longer able to care for her needs. Lunge/Attack Incident:  In April 2024, in Pueblo, CO, Mira lunged at the veterinarian; there was no physical contact; animal control was not involved.  Mira's guardian explains:   "No medical attention was required.  Mira can be protective of the house, and the vet was a little too quick to get in her space when she was agitated.  She lunged at the vet, but did not hurt her or anyone else." Mira's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "Entropion of the eye, corrected by surgery but might come back.  Spayed.  Vet suspects past injury to her hips as they seem stiff, but no other sign of injury." Mira's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Mira hasn't lived with children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children.  Regarding how Mira responds to children outside the home, the guardian states "She treats them the same way she treats other people; curious and usually affectionate". Mira's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Since Mira has lived with dogs, her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She tends to get along with dogs very well". Mira's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Mira hasn't lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She has shown a great interest in stray cats, but not an aggressive one.  We are unsure how she would act around a cat". Mira's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side House-Trained Likes men; also likes women if properly introduced* Separation anxiety (undiagnosed by vet)** * " Mira is more likely to get protective around women, but if introduced properly she's totally fine with just about everyone.  We've found the best solution to be to walk out with Mira and meet a guest in the parking lot before coming inside.  There have been a few instances where she has still gotten protective around women, but more often than not she's totally fine.  If we do this with men she's always been okay with it.  We suspect she was abused by a woman at some point." ** "The separation anxiety has not been formally diagnosed.  She didn't used to behave like this, but after we moved she got very anxious about not being near us.  This usually takes the form of whining and scratching at doors if we are in another room. It should be something that can be trained out of her, but I don't have the ability to do so with my current situation." Mira's guardian describes her ideal future home: "A house with a fenced in yard would be ideal.  She loves to be outside and sun herself but she also tends to bolt if she doesn't have a fence.  A family that has some experience training dogs would be ideal, as they can help her be less anxious about people visiting or separation."
