Female, 7 months, 30 lbs Bibi is new to the rescue. We will add more information as we get to know the dog better. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

At just 4 months old and weighing approximately 30 pounds, Briggs is a bundle of joy waiting to bring endless love and happiness into your life. Briggs is the epitome of sweetness. His playful nature is infectious, and he's always up for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. But what he loves most of all is cuddling up with his favorite humans. This little snuggle bug will melt your heart with his affectionate nature and warm cuddles. While Briggs is still learning the ropes, he's eager to please and is already catching on to potty training. Walking on a leash is a new concept for him, but with a little patience and guidance, he'll soon master it like a pro. While he can be a bit barky at times, he's surprisingly quiet when cozy in his crate, making him a considerate roommate. Briggs has a special fondness for other dogs and would thrive in a home with a furry sibling to play with. And while he enjoys indoor snuggles, he also needs a yard where he can stretch his legs and explore to his heart's content.  Update: Briggs has had his eye surgery and is looking very handsome! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
Are you looking at my ears? WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: Hello! My name is Shiva, and I'm happy to be here and tell you a bit about me. I was brought into another welfare organization in Washington, DC, in July 2023 by nice animal control officers after I was found wandering the streets. I was underweight and had a skin condition, but the vets there nursed me back to health. I'm now a healthy 45 pounds, very energetic, and getting used to trusting humans again. I have been in foster and have grown a lot in my time out of the shelter. I am still quite shy at first, but after getting to know people, I really open up and show my very loving, playful and goofy personality. While I am an adult lady, I have a lot of energy, am silly and playful at times, and LOVE the outdoors. I light up on walks, especially in the park, and love running around and being playful with my foster mom. If you have a nice yard that I can run and play in, I would love that! I also love nice long walks where you can be patient with me as I sniff (a lot). Because of my past, I am scared by sudden, loud noises, so I would really prefer a quiet home, perhaps outside the city so there are fewer sirens and other loud noises. I may be ok with other dogs, but my foster mom thinks I might prefer to be queen of my own castle. I currently live with two adult male cats. My energy and playfulness is not always well-received by them, but I don't show any aggression towards them, just playfulness. A home with cats may work for me, but my new family would have to be willing to go slow with introductions. I am a true love, who is looking for a soft place to land after a rough go of it. Once you earn my trust, I will be very loving and loyal. I'd love to be with a forever family that loves me for all I am and treats me like a princess. ATTRIBUTES: Shiva has lived in foster with cats and done well. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
Pisa is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: A mix of absolute perfection, you can't help but fall in love with Pisa's smooshy face and adorably clumsy nature. She's been known to bonk her nose a few times when excitedly turning around after you before shaking it off and continuing to follow after you. Part of her excitement with life is that she loooves to sniff. She loves old and new smells, but will plop onto the ground when she's decidedly satisfied with her sniffing accomplishments. The only exception to her sniffing is seemingly other dogs and people, of which she has little care for on walks. She knows she's your main girl and that's enough for her to ignore any passerby of human or animal kind. In the home, she may be a little hesitant at first, but quickly warms to invite pets and affection. If you want a dirty dog that tracks mud through your house, Pisa may not be your girl. She is not a fan of wet grass or mud, and will only stoop down to touching wet grass if there is business that needs attending to. BEWARE this wrinkly-faced monster will... continuously lick your fingers. That's right, day or night if she wants attention, to play, or just wants to show you just how much she loves you, she can, and will, take it out on your fingers. She also will, and has, quickly picked up new routines like using staircases, waiting for her food, and being the sweetest and most well-behaved girl you'll ever meet. ATTRIBUTES: Pisa does well with other dogs. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
