Story
I'm in a FOSTER HOME! If you want to meet me, you can start the process by emailing my foster parent at clairenorsetter@gmail.com to set up a time to virtually meet me!Hello! My name is Shiva, and I'm happy to be here and tell you a bit about me.  I was brought in to the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC, by nice animal control officers after I was found wandering the streets.  I was underweight, and had a skin condition, but the vets at HRA nursed me back to health.  I'm now a healthy 40 pounds, very energetic, and getting used to trusting humans again.I have been in foster since September 9th and have grown incredibly in my time out of the shelter.  I am still quite shy at first, but after getting to know people, I really open up show my very loving, playful and goofy personality.  While I am a senior lady, I have a lot of energy and LOVE the outdoors.  I light up on walks, especially in the park, and love running around and being playful with my foster mom.  If you have a nice yard that I can run and play in, I would love that!  I also love nice long walks where you can be patient with me as I sniff (a lot).Because of my past, I am scared by sudden, loud noises, so I would really prefer a quiet home without young children. I may be ok with other dogs, but my foster mom thinks I might prefer to be queen of my own castle.  My energy and playfulness have not been well-received by my foster mom's resident cats, so a home without cats would be ideal.  While being treated for an upper respiratory infection, I was stubborn with taking medication, so my furrever family would have to be willing to work with me and be creative if I needed additional medication down the road.I am a true love, who is looking for a soft place to land after a rough go of it.  Once you earn my trust, I will be very loving and loyal.  I'd love to be with a furrever family that loves me for all I am and treats me like a princess.  Thank you for reading, and if you're interested in a meet and greet, please contact my foster mom at clairenorsetter@gmail.com. Story
Rebel is a 6-year-old male Shar-Pei/English Bulldog mix with a heart full of love. He's looking for a new forever home in Hagerstown, Maryland, following the passing of his beloved owner. Rebel is a loyal and affectionate companion who would thrive in a calm and understanding environment. Key Information: Age: 6 years old Breed: Shar-Pei/English Bulldog mix Neutered: Not neutered Compatibility: Rebel is best suited for a home without small kids or male dogs, as he had a rough experience with young children in his previous home. Cat Alert: Rebel may chase cats if he spots them in the yard, so a cat-free environment would be ideal. Health: Up to date on shots and house trained. Rebel's life has seen some recent changes, with the loss of his owner and his current caregiver preparing for hip and knee surgeries. This sweet boy is in need of a loving family to provide the stability and care he deserves. If you're interested in opening your heart and home to Rebel, please reach out to Danny at 240-675-9090. Your kindness could make all the difference in Rebel's world. Let's find this loyal companion the safe and loving forever home he deserves.November 25, 2023, 8:31 pm

Special Needs: NA- just gentle, positive reinforcement training, like all shelter dogs Obbie Wan...He wants to be your only hope! This fella has THE funniest personality! Complete goofball and I mean that in the best way possible! Obbie is sweet, loving, and playful. At the shelter he is go go go all the time, but that’s due to boredom. He would definitely benefit from an active family. He tested well with other dogs, but we always suggest for you to bring your dog to meet and greets if there is another pet in the home. Obbie is a 1 yr old male Shar Pei mix (based on certain physical characteristics and temperament) and is approximately 39lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. SCOOBY is a big boy...at least 66#. His estimated DOB is 1/5/2020...so he is almost 4 yrs old. He is a very FUN dog and loves playing with other dogs but he is exuberant and easily intimidates smaller dogs. He would be a great companion dog for a large breed dog. He loves everyone and just wants to play. He has not had in-house training...in a shelter with lots of dogs, the big ones don't necessarily get the royal treatment. He has been leash-trained and loves to go on walks. After he get rid of the initial excitement about going out, he walks gently on the leash. I do not trust him with a cat. If it runs, he will chase. He sees them as lots of fun. Scooby would be great with a family with older children. Smaller ones would probably get knocked down during playtime. He needs a home with large back yard, I would not recommend him for an apartment. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at petcentralsatx@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to the NE. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.

Not good with dogs,
Story
Name: Baby Sex: Male Estimated Age: About a year old Best Guess for Breed: Boxer/Mastiff Mix Weight: About 70 lbs Good With: LOVES ALL PEOPLE! We aren’t sure how Baby would do with cats or kids, but we are happy to test him out. BABY'S PERFECT MATCH: Baby is a very sweet pup who is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and a family that wants to be loved fiercely and will continue working with him on training and enrichment activities.  PERFECT FAMILY: Baby is very loyal and loving, and we think he would prefer to be the only pet in the home. In his foster home he lives with two other similar-sized dogs. He likes to run and play with the other dogs outside, but most of the time he prefers to spend his time playing or cuddling with humans. He does well when playing with other dogs with the right introduction. But, because of his size and energy, sometimes he can be a little overwhelming for other dogs. When guests come over, Baby is initially very excited and playful, as most dogs are, but he chills out after getting that initial energy out and/or being redirected (training, treats, or toys!). Baby has done well with kids (you can see him getting pets from a little one in one of his profile pics) but he hasn’t been around kids for long periods yet. He is also looking for a family that loves to play, is committed to training, and enjoys lounging with a puppy. Continuing to work on his training knowing that it will be very helpful for both the family and for Baby - a well-trained dog is a happy dog. He loves his training sessions partly for the treats but mostly for the quality time he gets with humans. As much as Baby loves training, he also has a goofy and loving personality. If you think you’ve seen the best puppy eyes before…wait until you see Baby’s! All in all, the perfect family for Baby will be a family that is ready to give a lot of love - and receive twice as much back, because Baby will shower you with gentle kisses and cuddles, adorable looks (he’s very photogenic!), fun and engaging play, and endless laughs.  PERFECT HOME: A home with a fenced in yard away from the bustling city. Baby can handle open areas like parks for short periods but like many younger dogs, he can get tired and overstimulated, so we do not recommend taking him to busy and unpredictable areas like dog parks, busy patios, and daycare.  Baby loves to sunbathe and play fetch or tug in the yard. He does well on walks in our quiet neighborhood, but we think a yard would help him get some of the extra energy out. Baby seldom barks in the yard, even when other dogs are barking in the yard or elsewhere in the neighborhood. EXERCISE NEEDS: As can be expected with young dogs, Baby has bursts of energy that are easily managed with outside play time, training, playing, and enrichment activities. Currently, most of his physical exercise comes from playing in the backyard. He loves tugging with the other dogs or humans in the yard, and really enjoys playing fetch and quickly drops the ball/stick/rope when he’s given the command “out.” Baby gets pretty tired out with training sessions, too! Like most puppies, he’s still perfecting his focus despite distractions and keeps getting better with training sessions. Finally, on rainy days where walks or playing in the yard isn’t feasible, Baby is content with some light fetch or tug inside and some puzzles or other enrichment activities that challenge his mind and senses.  BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Baby is a big love bug! He gives the sweetest, most gentle kisses and seems to consider himself to be a 75 pound lapdog. When alone or sleeping, he is kept in his expen area isolated from the rest of the home. When we come to his area to get him, he waits calmly and quietly for us to let him out of his area. When he hears the other dogs in the house barking, he rarely joins in. He also uses the bathroom outside in the yard and knows a number of commands including heel, out, stay, sit, and place.  He plays outside with the other 2 dogs in the home, but again it is clear to us that he is happier when he has alone time with the humans - whether that’s playing outside or lounging inside. As long as we are in the same proximity or are physically touching him somehow, he will happily chew on a toy or sleep. He will let you know when he would like to play or be pet. When he first came to us, he jumped up and barked at the humans when he wanted attention or to play. He quickly learned how to ask for attention and, since the first week, he hasn’t  jumped or barked to get attention from humans. Now, he asks for attention and playtime by bringing a toy, making eye contact, rolling over for a belly rub, or pawing at the humans.  CRATE: Baby is crate trained. When he first came to his foster home, he spent all of his alone time in the crate. After the first couple weeks at the house, we moved him into an expen to give him a little more room when he is alone. He sleeps and relaxes in his expen during the day and also sleeps in there all night long without a peep - unless he needs to potty!   If you think that Baby might be your perfect match, apply today!November 23, 2023, 8:49 am
