Story
Location: Maple Lake, MN Hi! My name is Petra. My foster parents nicknamed me baby potato. They say its because my fur is light like a potato & because I love to snuggle & nap. I am 4 months old and a Shar Pei/Lab mix. I really love playing tug of war, chasing, & being chased by my foster siblings Brooklyn (German Shepard mix) & Buddy (lab mix). I also like playing with dogs closer to my size like Jersey the corgi. According to my foster mom I am doing so well in school. I have mastered "sit and am working on lay down, shake, and stay. I am highly food motivated so it makes training a breeze & really fun! I am also potty training but I don't have accidents when I'm brought outside frequently. I do well in my crate & really love when I get a frozen peanut butter kong treat or a treat puzzle toy to occupy me before I nap. I love doing puzzle toys with treats and eating my breakfast & dinner out of a snuffle mat or a puzzle treat ball. I like to eat fast so these help engage my brain & slow me down while I eat. I have met little kids at adoption events and I love them! I do still have lots of puppy excitement which means I like to jump but I am a fast learner and don't mean any harm. I do well in bath and nail trim time. My fur dries so quickly giving me a bath is so easy! I also am a low shedder so you wont have to worry about too much dog hair around the house. I get called "sweetheart a lot because I love to show my love in kisses, snuggling, & nuzzling. My foster mom says I am the sweetest puppy she's ever met. I have lots of love to give & cant wait to find my furever home! I would do well in a lot of environments as I am a mellow, go with the flow gal. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Location: Sioux Falls, SD Taj is a sweet, energetic and goofy little boy. He loves to be loved and curl up on your lap. He plays with stuffed toys, squeaky toys, balls, and loves to run with his foster siblings. He enjoys a good chew stick. When he sleeps, he sleeps hard and snores like a freight train. With his big nose it's understandable that he could snore loudly. He has a black lab body with a shar pei face. (A bit less wrinkles) He is currently all arms and legs and doesn't always have control of where everything is going in his movements and actions. He likes to be in the water but needs a life jacket. He's clumsy and currently swims like a rock, but he is insistent on joining in on the swimming fun. Potty training has gone well and he is going outside routinely. He prefers to go on a solid surface versus in the grass. Being in the kennel for a bit, he's partial to going on solid surfaces. We are working on getting him to the grass. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Location: Minneapolis, MN Machu is the sweetest little miss wiggle butt. I have actually been calling her Matcha by mistake but she comes to almost anything with an eager dash! She love to be around humans and will follow you around as your shadow. She still has not had a single accident in the house! She runs to the door and looks at you and wags her tail when she's ready. She loves playing with other dogs and she can hold her own when they're being too rough with her! She loves fetch but forgets to bring the ball back, loves to run around the yard. Machu is small but mighty and an absolute cuddle bug, she has no sense of personal space. Bringing her home has been the easiest transition. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Location: Parker, SD Are you looking for a beautiful blonde? Giza (aka Gigi) is looking for her furrrever home. Want a couch companion after a good run and play time? This girl goes at 100 miles an hour, and then snuggles. She is a high energy youngster! Her smooth short coat is easy maintenance. Sits quietly for nail trims. This active pup is great with other dogs and ignores the resident cat. She loves to play and play and play with her human and dog friends. Working on house breaking (good progress for age, keeps kennel dry and clean but needs frequently potty trips and close supervision when inside). Quiet and great in a kennel. Needs a slow feed bowl please :-) Working on walking on a leash Already doing well on "come" with treats, working on "sit", knows "kennel", but frequently does still jump up in her happiness and joy at seeing you and playing. Likes playing with stuffed toys, Kongs, and Benebone chews. A home with older children (approximately 10 yrs +) needed, as in her few interactions with younger children she has been fearful. Her extreme exuberance is not a good mix for little children, and she will need a home that can help work with her on her hesitation with new people and younger kids. Gigi will make a great companion for a family that will provide exercise and enrichment for an active young pup. Currently fostered near Sioux Falls, and can set up meet and greet times! --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Holand is the sweetest pup, found wandering alone before being taken in by a kind rescuer in Houston. He loves sunbathing and napping on soft beds and couches. Holand loves to play with toys, but give him a chewy treat or bone, and he's the happiest camper. He’s not food-aggressive and does well in a home with other dogs and cats, though he doesn’t seek out their companionship. Holand is kenneled overnight and spends his days in the common areas and yard, always preferring to be where his people are. We’ve now also started leaving him out at night and he’s a great boy and sleeps soundly all night on his dog bed. He is a gentle giant, very good with kids, and never jumps. He is super quiet and does not bark, except occasionally when left alone. He likes soft, stuffy toys and entertains himself with them.  He's not a fan of going outside before breakfast, but has learned that it is part of the house schedule. He also needs a quick trip outside after meals and drinking large amounts of water. Speaking of water, he loves drinking it! Holand loves his people and even has a cute little hop when he sees his favorites! This mellow guy doesn’t have separation anxiety but would thrive in a home with people who are home more often than not. He would prefer a family that has a slower lifestyle and wants a calm, in-house companion. Holand just wants his own people to love him and a sunny spot in the yard to snooze in. Holand is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 5:57 pm
