Rosie came from a seizure of 32 dogs in Florida. Most of the dogs were shar-pei and some like Rosie were shar-pei mix. Rosie was in bad shape when we got her with big bald patches all over and itching non-stop. With vet care and good food she now has a gorgeous brindle coat.Rosie loves everyone she meets!! She can be a little mouthy but not biting, just excited and easily corrected. We call it "Pei kisses" when they do this and it is just because they are so wanting to love you and have so much energy they don't know what to do with it! Pretzel is a handsome fawn brush coat neutered male, approximately 3 years old, weighing 40.5lbs. This dapper looking boy has a moderate muzzle — sitting right between the traditional bone mouth and the heavily padded meat mouth — giving him a classic Shar Pei look. Pretzel was picked up as a stray by Animal Services in a common “Dog Dumping” area notorious for puppy mills. Lucky for him, he’s in rescue now and being well cared for in the GTA. He is playful and goofy with a laid-back side that balances him out perfectly. He has settled in quickly with his foster siblings and is clearly enjoying having dog company. He is house trained and walks well on leash — a genuinely easy houseguest so far. This delicious little nugget meets people well including the vet and staff! He is looking for a forever home where he can enjoy showing off his amazing temperament by meeting new people and making doggy friends. This young pup would do well with a playmate. Hi… I’m Toffee 🤍 I came very close to the end once. Closer than I ever want to be again. But somehow, I was saved just in time… and now, I’m here, waiting for something I’ve never truly had before. A family. You might notice me right away. I’m a little different from most Shar Peis—my fur is fuller, softer… they say I look a bit like a bear. With my wrinkles and gentle appearance, I may seem strong on the outside, but inside, I’m calm and steady. I don’t bark much. I don’t rush. I like to take things slowly, quietly… especially when I’m somewhere new. I do love food though—maybe a little too much 😊 But that also means I enjoy learning. I already understand simple things like “sit,” and I try my best to listen. If you guide me with patience (and maybe a treat or two), I’ll follow you well. There are still things I need to learn. Living in a home… potty training… understanding daily routines—these are all new to me. I might not get everything right at first, but if you teach me step by step, I’ll keep trying. One thing about me is… when I bond with someone, I bond deeply. At first, I might be a little cautious. In a new place, with new people, I need time to understand that I’m safe… and that you are my person. So instead of reaching for me right away, it would mean a lot if you could wait—just a little—until I come to you. And I will. Because once I open my heart, I give you my trust, my loyalty, my whole self. If you’re someone who can go slowly with me, who understands that real connection takes time, then I promise… I will become your most loyal companion, your quiet strength, your steady, loving presence.
