Story

My name is Rudie, and not only am I a strapping pup; I am adaptable and affectionate. My friends tell me that my paws are huge, but don’t worry, I know how to use them gently. My activity level and bark show my puppy personality, but after a burst of playful energy, I love to relax next to my human. You may not be able to tell in my picture, but my forehead wrinkles come from my Shar-Pei side, are soft like silk and will feel nice as I lean into you and give you lots of cuddles. Although I am only around 1 year old, I am learning how to consistently sit and stay. I can walk with a human holding my leash, and I do well with another dog walking with me. I like to protect my human and bark and pull at passersby, but I am beginning to learn to just keep walking when my human asks me to follow. I am good at being in the crate for a while even though I sometimes feel left out of the action and make a little noise to remind you that I am here. I am curious in the kitchen and like to check out what is happening on the counters - I LOVE to eat! I am okay if I am asked to wait behind a gate to keep my paws protected and will excitedly watch from the safety of the other side. My love for eating can’t be tamed even though my tummy sometimes makes me need to go outside during the day, but with the right diet and routine, I feel better. Treats are a favorite, and sometimes I am super excited and just need a reminder to take them gently because I do know how.I have spent most of my life at the Humane Society, but I have had sleepovers with a couple of other families and their fur babies. I adapt quickly to new places, and I get along great with other dogs. I am always up for a tug-of-war or wrestling session, and I listen well when I am told to take the action outdoors. Oh! And I really like to play with kids too- especially with a tug toy and a ball to fetch. I can’t wait to find my forever family to grow up with. So, what do you say?

Meet Dolce — Sweet by Name, Sweet by Nature Fostering in Phoenix AZ Dolce truly lives up to her name — she’s the definition of sweet! This lovely girl has had a bit of a rollercoaster journey and somehow found herself in need of rescue twice. We like to think we’re pretty great at screening adopters, but clearly, Dolce slipped through the cracks — and we’re determined to get it right this time! She’s wonderful with other dogs and has previously lived with kids. We’re not sure about cats yet, but she’s such a gentle soul we wouldn’t be surprised if she did just fine with a proper introduction. She is amazing with big and small dogs. Her BFFs are a malinois and a shitzu. Dolce is healthy overall, though she’s working on shedding a few extra pounds (aren’t we all?). She walks nicely on a leash, rides like a champ in the car, and has great house manners. This girl adores her walks and will go for miles if you are up for it! This girl has amazing skills at making you feel safe in your own home! There are zero worries you will ever have anyone in your backyard without this girl letting you know. Have we mentioned how much she loves water? Zero fear of the pool in fact looks at the pool as her own very large water bowl. She will also jump right in the shower with you if given the opportunity. Her only “flaw”? She doesn’t have that classic Shar Pei look — but what she lacks in wrinkles, she makes up for in personality and heart. She’s scheduled for her wellness check and bloodwork soon, but from what we can see, her eyes and ears are in great shape — no entropion and wide open ear canals! Gordon found himself in a California shelter, and he was such a good boy that Pei People couldn't wait to rescue him! Gordon is about 36 pounds (very small), is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. Shelter aged him at 6 years old, but foster thinks more like 4 years old. (so far, he's not telling us!) Gordon is even good in a crate (he sleeps there at night). He took a day or two to learn the dog door, but now is a pro and no accidents in the house. He would love a yard...really enjoys being outside. He also likes toys and balls. He is good with other dogs and is ready for a new home!
