This little guy is absolutely precious and darn near perfect !! Sad story. His owner was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer so he asked his vet to find a wonderful home for Tuk. And that's just what we aim to do. This little guys is approx 3-4 years old, neutered, completely house trained and leash trained. He's very good with people, kids and other dogs. Loves to lay in his kennel for comfort . Bonds very quickly with his people . Currently he's in a foster home in Memphis, Tn. HUGO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!     Come meet Hugo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (2/15) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!     Name:  Hugo        Best Guess for Breed:  Sheltie and border collie mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of December 2025         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  50lbs as of Feb. 2026   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Hugo is Looking For:    His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this sweetie landed in the shelter. He's not long out of puppyhood and is eager to have his humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! And he'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. Quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those.    But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Is that going to be you? Is he the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: This dog has been a happy, enthusiastic companion since the moment I picked him up. He’s energetic and smart, so he really benefits from a mix of physical exercise and mental stimulation. When he’s unsure what to do, he may whine a bit, but overall he’s been a quiet dog.   Out in public, he’s friendly and curious. He may pull slightly toward people because he wants to say hello, but he’s far from difficult to handle. With a bit more training, he’ll be very manageable. He’s food&#226&#128&#145motivated, knows basic commands, and takes treats gently. He may jump up when excited, but he does it softly.   He seems more people&#226&#128&#145oriented than dog&#226&#128&#145oriented, but with time and structure, he should settle into a routine with other dogs. He doesn’t love going into the crate, but once inside he settles quickly. He slept through the night without a sound. During the day, he may cry for a couple of minutes before calming down.   He’s still working on potty training and has had a few accidents, which is understandable given all the recent changes in his life. He’ll do well with someone who enjoys training and wants an affectionate, energetic companion.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Meet Sir Edward! He is (approximately) 6 years old and a 20-25 pounds full grown. Edward is from our most recent hoarding case and dogs DNA tested from the household were a smorgasbord of breeds (Coonhound, Sheltie, Lhasa Apso, Russell mix, etc, etc). Sir Edward is full of life and full of himself! He enjoys the company of other animals and LOVES to play. He has been exposed to kittens, puppies, and dogs of many ages and sizes, but not all love his playful excitement. He is still learning the ways of the world in regards to kennel, potty, routine, and just being a dog. He will need an adopter with patience and the resources to teach him these things. Sir Edward has some herding tendencies, so no young children please. A fenced in yard is preferred - he doesn’t know how to walk on a leash yet! Adoption application can be found on our website!
