We are not sure how she does with kids or cats, but happy to test her out for you! About Citra: Citra is an adorable 4 year old border collie mix who is incredibly smart and loves to learn new tricks. Fun facts: she knows over 15 commands and is working on several more, she’s a mozzarella cheese aficionado and butt scratches are her favorite! She also loves sunbathing - she can go for hours without moving from a sunny spot! Please read more about her below! CITRA’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1-2 adults is ideal. Citra needs crate time when guests come over, but can warm up with a slow introduction and some treats. Because she is shy, we are recommending she not go to a home with small children. She can be quite scared of other dogs and cats, and would do best as the only dog in the home. However, she has been working her hardest with us to overcome her fears, and has shown lots of progress recently! PERFECT HOME: One with a fenced in yard away from the bustling city. EXERCISE NEEDS: Citra enjoys long walks on the leash and rolling in the grass belly side up at the park. She could play fetch and tug all day long with her humans! However, she is also very content to lounge around the house. She is such a playful pup and would love to learn new games and activities! She loves untangling a towel to get to her food, and that tires her out just as much as a walk! She should not be taken to dog parks. BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Citra is a sweetheart. She loves to play with her humans and then take naps on the couch or in her crate. She is slowly but surely learning how to interact with new humans, but it takes a lot of treats and patience to gain her trust. Once she gets comfortable, she would love nothing more but to snuggle up with you all night long. She is quiet and comfortable in her crate, knows the “place” command, and does not have accidents in the home. CRATE: Citra loves her crate, she will sleep and relax there during the day and while her humans are not at home. She also sleeps in there all night long! Angel is a sweet tricolor male collie born in March 2023.  He's a gorgeous boy who has filled out beautifully this winter and is in perfect physical condition.  When he plays with other dogs, he shows off his speed and athleticism.  Angel is alert and intelligent, and loves to play.  As a member of his little pack at his foster home, he is very happy to be the sweet, young guy who is always up for a game of tag or a little wrestle. He absolutely loves tennis balls and other toys. He also gets along with every dog he meets!  He hasn’t met a dog he doesn’t love -- young or old, large or small. Angel would be happiest if he had a canine sister or brother to romp with in a fenced-in yard, and an outdoorsy family who enjoys exploring the countryside or trails with a loyal companion.  When he is inside, he settles down nicely. He is happy to go into his puppy pen at naptime and bedtime, and never complains or makes a peep. He would be very happy if his new family provides him with a large crate or puppy pen where he can retire when things get a bit too busy At mealtime, he is polite and quietly waits his turn.  He also comes running whenever called - hoping you'll give him a robust butt scratch. Vince is a sable collie boy that is about six years old, and he is quickly learning how to enjoy life!  When he came into Collie Rescue, he was about 15 lbs underweight, did not understand how to play, and wasn't really sure what steps were.  Vince now has a very healthy appetite and has filled out nicely. He loves to run and play, and has quite a bit of energy.  He'll need some leash training, since he will pull and bark when he sees other dogs on a walk.  Vince follows his foster family everywhere -- super eager to please others and be close to people who care for him.  He also loves to meet new people!  He is super-sweet, but he can also  be a bit of a spaz when he gets excited!  Vince is a great dog who deserves a wonderful home.If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. This is Titan!  He is a young collie boy, who was born in March 2023.  Titan is a sweet boy, but he is a little hesitant with new things, shy with new people, and needs time to adjust before his nervousness dissipates.  But once he adjusts, he is great and super friendly!  He LOVES other dogs, so we would like to help him find a home with another young dog so they can play together and have fun!  Titan is a very active and playful pup - always in motion and loves to run.    He enjoys toys, but you'll have to watch him around socks and small plush toys because he thinks they are for eating.  He's learned several commands, like "sit," "down," and responding to his name.  He's housebroken and crate-trained, and is a good eater.  Ideally, he would do well in a home with older children (teenagers). Due to her shy personality, we do not recommend her for a home with children under the age of 12.We haven't seen her with cats or kids but she can be tested once she has arrived in the DC area. Currently Living at:  DC area foster home. Special adoption considerations:   Because Lolly was rescued and pulled from a shelter before she could be altered, she is not yet spayed.
