Story
We adopt locally to the Twin Cities metro. We are not able to coordinate distance placements. Apply at Adoption Pinkerton is the sweetest, most loving boy! He will thrive in a senior-loving single-story home, or a home where he does not need to manage stairs to be with his person and to go outside. He has been dearly loved all his life, he will be your best friend! Read more: Age: 11 yrs young! Size: 44 lbs. on his way to a goal weight under 30 lbs. Temperament: Pinkerton is a very happy boy! He just craves attention and will take endless pets as he gazes at you lovingly. He loves everyone he has met! Fence: We will consider a home without a fence with a family who will commit to keeping Pinkerton safely leashed 100% of the time for his lifetime whenever he is outside of a securely fenced area. Pinkerton has experience eliminating while on a leash. Dogs: Pinkerton gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, and lived with a Shih-Tzu previously. Cats: Unknown. There are no cats in his foster home. Kids: No kids in his foster home and it is unknown if Pinkerton has had exposure to children. Due to pain and stiffness that is likely weight-related, Pinkerton would do best in an adult home, or a home with an older child who understands appropriate interactions with an older dog. Crate Use: Pinkerton uses a crate when transported in the car, and has free run of the house in his foster home. He sometimes sleeps in his crate, which has a bath mat to assist him in getting up. Housetrained: Yes Responds to Cues: Pinkerton does well with routine and predictability. It can take him a few days to get used to a new environment. He’ll do most anything you ask for a treat! Leash Walks: Currently leash walks should be short to prevent further pain and stiffness. As Pinkerton approaches his goal weight, leash walks will be much more comfortable and enjoyable for him. He likes walks! Car Rides: Car rides have been to go to the vet and groomer. Pinkerton is crated for transport for his safety. Activity Level: Low, as expected for his current mobility level. Barking: Pinkerton is quiet for a Sheltie - a plus! He will bark with excitement about food. Health: While in rescue, Pinkerton has had an exam, bloodwork, thyroid test, tick screen, and heartworm test. Pinkerton is on Carprofen daily for pain and stiffness, likely weight-related. He is able to do 2 or 3 steps but it will be some time before he can do more than that. We are hoping that, as he approaches his goal weight, he will be more mobile and regain strength in his back legs through exercises. He is able to walk on a hard floor but struggles to get up when lying on a hard floor. He has fewer issues when on a rug or carpet. Pinkerton will be such a joy in your life! He is perfect for someone with few or no stairs, who wants an easygoing, adoring boy to love and to enjoy slow, leisurely walks together, and who can support him toward his goal weight so he can be as healthy as possible. Adoption fee: $250 We adopt locally to the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota.

Story
Meet the most playful pup you’ve ever seen - Mr. Sylvester!  At 12 weeks currently, Sylvester has been a ball of energy and fun since day one. As the biggest of his litter, he loves to play with his brothers, toys, and just about anything you put in front of him! Everything is fun for him including chasing his own tail.  Sylvester the “adventurer” is curious and brave, always sniffing out and exploring anything new. He wants all your attention though, so be prepared to give lots of cuddles, belly scratches, and get a few licks in return! Currently he is learning how to “go outside”  Despite being so playful and excitable, Sylvester is affectionate and loving as well. Every morning when his foster dad comes down to let him out – he wants to be cuddled and will jump up and down licking his face. At the end of the day, close to his bed time, he likes sprawling next to his foster family & his brother while slowly chewing on a toy and unwinding.  From time to time, he likes climbing over his foster dad and just wants to be snuggled – while giving you plenty of licks - for as long as he does not see another shiny object. He loves playing in the snow in his foster family’s backyard – chasing his brother or chewing upon twigs.  Sylvester will do great in a household with or without another dog, and he will be a fiercely loyal companion through it all. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $625.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 19, 2026, 3:59 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lover is a gentle, lovable girl who may start off a little unsure when meeting someone new. Once she settles in and feels comfortable in a new environment, she is smart, cute, and has that easy-to-love charm that makes her a great fit for a variety of homes. Lover comes with a solid foundation already in place. She is leash-trained, crate-trained, rides well in the car, and is eager to please. She has high energy levels, but enjoys both snuggle time and playtime.  Here’s a cute video of Lover!  Lover loves dog companionship and would do best with another dog in the home as she'll likely gain confidence from another dog as well.  If you are looking for a sweet, affectionate dog Lover may be the perfect match! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Hi, I’m Tedah. I’m a gentle, dignified girl who has been through a lot in my life. I spent time on the streets caring for my puppies all on my own, so now that I’m safe, warm, and well-fed, I’m learning how to truly relax. Every day my sweet personality and quiet confidence continue to shine a little more. I’m completely house trained, very polite with my food, and I don’t chew on anything that isn’t mine. I love every person I meet, walk calmly on a leash, and ride quietly in the car. New situations can make me a bit cautious, but if I trust my humans and they stay by my side, I’m brave enough to follow them anywhere. I’m a mellow, go-with-the-flow kind of girl. Most of my day is spent napping, following my person from room to room, enjoying mealtimes, and soaking up cuddles. I love being invited into your space and will gently tuck my nose under your hand if I’d like a few more pets. If you ask me to move along, I’ll politely do so and settle nearby. I even enjoy being brushed! Toys aren’t really my thing — I’m far too refined for such silliness — but I do enjoy a good meaty bone outside. Because of my past, I need to be the only dog in the home and don’t like sharing food-related items. In return, I promise to be the easiest, sweetest companion you could ask for. When you walk through the door, I’ll sit like a lady and do a tiny tippy-toe dance while I wait for proper greetings. I smile in my sleep, wag my tail in happy circles, and somehow manage to steal the hearts of everyone I meet. I’m a soulful senior lady looking for a soft, quiet place to land — a peaceful home with patient, loving people who will cherish me as much as I’ll cherish them. If you’re ready for a calm, affectionate best friend with a heart full of gratitude, I’m ready to fill your life with warmth and gentle love.  Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Tedah is from a local impound.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application.
