Story
This Sheltie requires a yard with a secure, physical fence with direct access from the house. We adopt locally to the Twin Cities metro. We are not able to coordinate distance placements. Apply at Adoption Wes, aka Grandpa Wes, Buddy and Teddybear, is an amazing little guy! He has such a sweet personality! He will be a great addition for a senior-loving single-story home, or a home that can accommodate his age-related vision limitations by blocking off access to stairs. Age: 12 yrs young! Size: 25 lbs. Temperament: Wes is very sweet, highly treat-motivated, and has a fun personality. Wes was shy and unsure when he first came to rescue, but he has blossomed in his foster home and has quite a spunky and fun personality. Fence: Recommended due to vision limitations and because Wes does not have experience with leash walks. Dogs: Wes gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, including Shelties and 5 lb. Chihuahuas. Cats: No cats in his foster home. Wes reportedly got along with the cat in his previous home. Kids: No kids in his foster home and Wes has not had exposure to children. Due to some vision limitations, Wes would do best in an adult home, or a home with an older child who understands about giving a senior dog space and waiting for a dog to initiate interaction, and who can be responsible to close doors to prevent accidental escape. Crate Use: Wes uses a crate when transported in the car, and has free run of the house in his foster home. Housetrained: Yes Responds to Cues: Wes does well with routine and predictability. It can take him a few days to get used to a new environment. Once Wes is familiar with the layout of the home and routine of going outside, he does very well. Wes responds to his name and nicknames. Leash Walks: Wes is new to wearing a collar and using a leash. Car Rides: Car rides have been to go to the vet and groomer. Wes is crated for transport for his safety. Activity Level: Low, as expected for his age. When excited, Wes can break into a frolic and looks like a little goat hopping around! It’s absolutely adorable! Wes may pace when he is in a new environment or getting used to a new routine. Barking: Wes is very quiet - such a plus! He will bark with joy when excited. This is usually out in the yard when he’s really happy. Health: While in rescue, Wes has had an exam, bloodwork, thyroid test, tick screen, heartworm test, vaccinations, and a dental with extractions. He still has many teeth left to enjoy his treats and chews, and is in good shape for a senior! He is on Carprofen daily. Wes does have limited vision. He can see well enough not to bump into objects, but has trouble with distance and depth perception (stairs). Extra precautions need to be taken to make sure Wes does not have unsupervised access to stairs, or that stairs are blocked with a gate. All that Wes requires is a home full of love, some safety precautions to accommodate his vision limitations, ….and treats! He will be such a joy in your life! Adoption fee: $250 We adopt locally in the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota.

Story
We adopt locally to the Twin Cities metro. We are not able to coordinate distance placements. Apply at Adoption Pinkerton is the sweetest, most loving boy! He will thrive in a senior-loving single-story home, or a home where he does not need to manage stairs to be with his person and to go outside. He has been dearly loved all his life, he will be your best friend! Read more: Age: 11 yrs young! Size: 47 lbs. on his way to a goal weight under 30 lbs. Temperament: Pinkerton is a very happy boy! He just craves attention and will take endless pets as he gazes at you lovingly. He loves everyone he has met! Fence: We will consider a home without a fence with a family who will commit to keeping Pinkerton safely leashed 100% of the time for his lifetime whenever he is outside of a securely fenced area. Pinkerton has experience eliminating while on a leash. Dogs: Pinkerton gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, and lived with a Shih-Tzu previously. Cats: Unknown. There are no cats in his foster home. Kids: No kids in his foster home and it is unknown if Pinkerton has had exposure to children. Due to pain and stiffness that is likely weight-related, Pinkerton would do best in an adult home, or a home with an older child who understands appropriate interactions with an older dog. Crate Use: Pinkerton uses a crate when transported in the car, and has free run of the house in his foster home. He sometimes sleeps in his crate, which has a bath mat to assist him in getting up. Housetrained: Yes Responds to Cues: Pinkerton does well with routine and predictability. It can take him a few days to get used to a new environment. He’ll do most anything you ask for a treat! Leash Walks: Currently leash walks should be short to prevent further pain and stiffness. As Pinkerton approaches his goal weight, leash walks will be much more comfortable and enjoyable for him. He likes walks! Car Rides: Car rides have been to go to the vet and groomer. Pinkerton is crated for transport for his safety. Activity Level: Low, as expected for his current mobility level. Barking: Pinkerton is quiet for a Sheltie - a plus! He will bark with excitement about food. Health: While in rescue, Pinkerton has had an exam, bloodwork, thyroid test, tick screen, and heartworm test. Pinkerton is on Carprofen daily for pain and stiffness, likely weight-related. He is able to do 2 or 3 steps but it will be some time before he can do more than that. We are hoping that, as he approaches his goal weight, he will be more mobile and regain strength in his back legs through exercises. He is able to walk on a hard floor but struggles to get up when lying on a hard floor. He has fewer issues when on a rug or carpet. Pinkerton will be such a joy in your life! He is perfect for someone with few or no stairs, who wants an easygoing, adoring boy to love and to enjoy slow, leisurely walks together, and who can support him toward his goal weight so he can be as healthy as possible. Adoption fee: $250 We adopt locally to the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota.

My name is Oliver, and I'm one of the biggest of the pack. I am such a chill boy who is just as happy playing on my own as I am romping with my siblings and human kids. I am a big softie, and my foster mom says I have some of the best cuddling skills.  I'm working on the whole potty training thing, and it's a work in progress. I'm excited that we got all this white stuff outside, it's so fun to play in!!! Leashes and cars are new territory for me, but I'm excited to give them a go. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Jaxx, a bold, busy pup who’s finally finding his confidence. He’s energetic, curious and always ready for an adventure. Snuggles come after zoomies but when he bonds, he bonds hard. He’ll do best with older dog savvy kids and a medium/large dog friend who can keep up. He’s reactive to small dogs and cats but cats could work in a home where they can be safely managed or kept separate. Some space to roam and get his energy out would be ideal. Jaxx is still learning the world and can be nervous with loud noises or new people. Potty training is going great and he’s crate trained. He is a typical herding pup breed and can be vocal at times.  With patience and structure Jaxx will grow into a loyal, loving companion who thrives with someone who understands his breed. Jaxx is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Ember a playful, energetic pup who’s finally coming out of her shell. She’s playful, curious and likes to snuggle once she’s tired out. She’ll do best with older, dog savvy kids and either as an only dog or with a medium/large dog who can match her energy. She is reactive to small dogs and cats, but cats could work in a home where they can be safely managed or kept separate. A home with some room to burn off her energy would be ideal.  Ember is still learning the world, so sudden loud noises and changes still feel scary to her. She is doing great with potty training and is crate trained. She is a typical herding pup and can be vocal at times. With patience and structure she’ll be a loyal, loving companion. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lover is a gentle, lovable girl who may start off a little unsure when meeting someone new. Once she settles in and feels comfortable in a new environment, she is smart, cute, and has that easy-to-love charm that makes her a great fit for a variety of homes. Lover comes with a solid foundation already in place. She is leash-trained, crate-trained, rides well in the car, and is eager to please. She has high energy levels, but enjoys both snuggle time and playtime. Lover gets along well with adults and other big or small dogs, making her a wonderful match for many family types.  Here’s a cute video of Lover!  Originally brought into the Cleveland, TX shelter, Lover arrived in good condition and has shown that she adapts well to new environments. While she doesn’t require another dog in the home, she would likely enjoy a canine companion. She is the kind of dog who adjusts well with love and routine. If you are looking for a sweet, easy, affectionate dog who will fit right into your life, Lover may be the perfect match!
