Personality
Meet Muffin, a sweet girl whose story is a beautiful reminder of what a little patience, kindness, and love can do. When Muffin first arrived at the shelter after being found wandering around a Circle K, she was absolutely terrified. She would tremble when someone entered the room and scream in fear at even the gentlest touch. We don't know what her life looked like before she came to us, but we do know that she was scared, and she needed time to learn that she was safe.
And then, slowly, something wonderful happened. Muffin began to realize that the people around her weren't going to hurt her. Now she gets excited when she sees us coming! Her tail is almost always wagging, she seeks out affection (especially head scratches!), and she'll even play bow to invite us to play. Watching her come out of her shell has been such a joy.
Muffin is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves giving kisses, especially right on your nose, and she'll happily curl up in your lap with one of her beloved stuffies. She's playful without being overly rambunctious and enjoys being close to her people without needing constant attention. She's a gentle girl with a big heart, and every day, we're getting to see more of her personality shine through.
Behavior
Muffin is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. She's still building confidence, and she can get jumpy or startled at times, particularly when someone approaches her from behind. She'll benefit from a home where her boundaries are respected, introductions are gentle, and she can continue building trust at her own pace. Her progress so far has been remarkable, and we're excited to see how much more she'll blossom with a family of her own.
She's a gentle girl who already knows sit and is making progress with house training. She enjoys playing with her people, carrying around her stuffies, and curling up for some affection. Her playful bows and wagging tail are becoming more common as her confidence grows.
Muffin has shown interest in other dogs. She has had one meet and greet with a similar sized male dog and did wonderfully. If you have another dog at home, a meet-and-greet is recommended to see whether they'd be a good match.
Home & Health
Muffin is still a work in progress, but she's showing us every day that she's capable of so much love and happiness. She'll need a family willing to give her patience, reassurance, and time to adjust to a new environment. A calm, understanding home where she can build confidence at her own pace would be ideal.
She is young and healthy. She is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
