🐾 Meet Big Girl
Big Girl is back with Melissa’s Second Chances, and at 6 months old, this Husky girl has grown from a tiny puppy into a 40-pound bundle of sweetness, personality, and ENERGY. 🤍
Big Girl was adopted a few months ago, but as she grew, it became clear that her activity level was more than her adopter could comfortably manage. So she’s looking again for a family whose lifestyle is a better match for the active young dog she’s becoming.
And active is definitely the word! Big Girl is sweet, playful, curious, and happiest when she has something to do. Her previous adopter reports that if she hasn’t gotten enough exercise, she may find her own entertainment—and her definition of entertainment may not always match yours. 😅 For Big Girl, regular physical activity, playtime, training, and mental enrichment aren’t just bonuses; they’ll be important parts of helping her thrive.
Fortunately, this smart girl already has a good foundation. She is crate trained, has been living indoors, and previously worked on skills including “sit” and “stay.” She was also doing well learning to walk on leash—although she occasionally liked to weave in front of her person just to keep things interesting.
Big Girl is good with other dogs and has experience successfully sharing her space with canine friends. She’s also good with kids and has always been a social girl who enjoys being part of whatever her people are doing. Cats remain unknown.
Her earlier foster family got to see plenty of Big Girl’s affectionate side, too. Once the activity was over, she was happy to relax near her people, and at night she loved sleeping close to them. She's a girl who wants both: opportunities to get out there and DO things, followed by the chance to settle in with the people she loves.
And although she's getting bigger, some of those ridiculous puppy moments haven't gone anywhere. Big Girl has always been curious and observant, with a knack for turning everyday life into an opportunity for fun.
What Big Girl needs this time around is a family prepared for the dog in front of them: a young, energetic Husky who needs appropriate outlets for her body and her brain. She isn't a couch potato, and a home looking for a low-energy companion won't be the right fit. But for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants a dog to train, play with, walk, explore, and include in everyday adventures, Big Girl has so much potential.
She's sweet. She's social. She's smart. She's energetic. And at only 6 months old, she's just getting started.
Big Girl's first match turned out not to be the right one. Now we're looking for the family who will see all that Husky energy and think, “Yep—that's exactly the dog I've been looking for.” 🤍🐾
