Story
Meet Echo! She came to us from an animal hoarding situation where she lived with 15 other dogs. Her journey has shaped her into a gentle and kind soul, though she is initially shy around new people and animals. However, once she finds comfort and trust, her true playful and affectionate nature shines through. She does well with other dogs, cats, birds, and even children. Echo's ideal home would include the company of other dogs, as their presence boosts her confidence and brings out the best in her. If you welcome Echo into your home, be prepared for a period of adjustment where she acclimates to her new surroundings. With patience and love, you'll witness this once-shy pup blossom into a happy and loving member of your family.

Story
Lyka is a Siberian husky who is almost 5 years old. She is the sweetest husky and so beautiful. She is great with kids and other humans. We would love to be able to keep her, but our older husky/lab mix is not getting along with her as she gets older and is starting fights with progressive frequency. She does like to run so a good fence/electric fence is a must. She is not aggressive over food.

We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff.  Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.   April 9, 2024, 2:46 pm

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing for one of our rescue partners Allen county animal rescue facility. They are a rural animal control shelter near Iola KS. Many dogs are brought to their facility after being found as strays, dumped, surrendered, or brought in by the city. However, because they are in such a rural town, they have a very small pool of adopters and have a hard time finding homes for the dogs in the shelter. Our promise as their rescue partner is that should someone apply through us, we will handle any transportation needed to get the dog to their forever home, we will assist with home visits, dog intros and anything needed to help get these dogs out of the shelter and into loving homes. Please fill out our online dog adoption application if you are interested in adopting this pet. Age 7 years , Weight:60 lbs, Male Fenrir is a sophisticated gentleman who loves to speak in his wolfie language to share his opinions with everyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs, he doesn't much care for puppy shenanigans or cats for that matter. He has met and done well with young children and is all around a really great guy with a lot of love to give. He is quite dapper and has an adorable trot when he is happy  and we don't know why he's been passed over for so long. If you think you can be Fenrir's forever family, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.org.April 9, 2024, 2:46 pm

Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption.  Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. If you can find it in your heart to help this girl, please fill out an application at kcpaws.org!April 9, 2024, 2:46 pm

Story
Meet Morocco! He's handsome. He's charming. He's the consummate gentleman. If you're lucky enough to adopt this statuesque fellow you'll be hitting the jackpot, as he is perfection in floof. Despite a touch of arthritis in his wrist, Morocco loves his walks. Nothing a little aspirin can't take care of, and a new regime of supplements will hopefully keep him active for years to come. He's amazing with other dogs and loves Bar K. Cats have always been members of his family and he didn't acknowledge his foster's cats. No introduction was needed. (ixnay on the icken chay). Kids, people . . . they're all great, but he really holds his affection for the people he knows best. He speaks fluent woo woo, politely telling you when he's ready for breakfast or needs a potty break. Morocco is six, just at 70 lbs, and is ready to settle in with people he can adore for the rest of his life. If you're ready, he's waiting patiently. Morocco will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Morocco today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Hello! We’ve had Remy since he was a pup. He was born 2/4/2017 so he’s 5 years old. He has LOTS of energy so someone who can play with him would be ideal. We are needing to rehome him because our daughter has developed allergies to his hair. We are also working overtime and can’t give him the care he needs. He deserves someone who can take him on long walks and have a better quality of life. He loves winter snow. He gets the zoomies when he’s excited. He’s a really good boy and I wish we could keep him but that wouldn’t be fair to him or our daughter.
