Story
Luna Rodriguez A18755157 lb. spayed female, approx 3 years old -A sweet girl who just needs a little time to feel comfortable. She was timid at first and wanted to approach, but her nerves were getting the best of her. A couple tossed treats helped break the ice, and before long she was coming forward to take treats gently from my hand.-Once she was leashed up, she happily hopped out and headed outside to explore. She’s still learning about walking on leash and tends to circle around you as she figures things out, but she also stops to sniff and take in her surroundings. She wandered around the yard with some pacing, but nothing too concerning. She enjoys being close for pets without being overly needy.-She’s very treat motivated, already sits, and takes treats incredibly gently. She’s also a little underweight and clearly appreciates a good meal, so she’ll be happy to have someone helping her get back to feeling her best.-Inside, she seemed a bit more relaxed. I sat down on the floor and she came right over and laid beside me. She isn’t quite ready to play with toys yet, although she was curious enough to chase one and briefly pick it up.-She’s a gentle, timid girl who would really benefit from a quiet home and someone willing to give her the time and patience she needs to blossom. A patient foster or adopter could make all the difference for this sweet girl. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30**We ask that if you’re looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
