Story
MEET HUGO, THE FUTURE KING OF YOUR HOUSE! Hugo is a 3 year old male German Shepherd who has been neutered and is searching high and low for his forever home! Have you ever had a German Shepherd that isn't barrier reactive? Hugo is just that, typical of the breed. He has been dog reactive as well. The staff are working on this, but he will need polishing after finding his forever home. Now people are a different story! Hugo loves to make new human friends, he wants to be the center of attention and thinks he's a lap dog, even at 70 pounds! Hugo is a highly social young man who shares his toys with his people, loves getting treats & chasing tennis balls in the yard.Hugo would thrive in a home where will get all of your affection, he will need time & patience to overcome the reactivity as well. There is a trainer that has volunteered a FREE 1 hour training session, in his new home, after adoption (within the Tri-county area of Detroit). If you're able to give Hugo a chance to leave the shelter and find his home, PLEASE SEND IN AN APP TODAY!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application!
