Story
Ari came to us as an owner surrender in July 2023, due to reactivity in his home. He is a 2 year old Shiba Inu that did not get the proper training and structure to truly thrive in his previous home (the only home he has ever known). We have seen an improvement since he arrived. He allows the people here to walk him and actually is very playful with toys. However, he is still weary of being pet if he doesn't know you. Ari needs a home that will continue training, and get him accustomed to new surroundings, and people. Ari takes some time to trust you (can you blame him?), so multiple meet and greets are required (he IS WORTH IT!!). Our adorable fella already knows "sit" and "down" and with some extra TLC we now someone out there is going to be fast friends with Ari.If you want to find out more, contact our placement team at The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT: 516.785.5220#survivor #overbred #yorkie #doodle #husky #shepherd #terrier #mixedbreed #seeme #dogtiktok #doglove #blackwhite #brindle #senior #seniordogs #fosteringsaveslives #dogsrule #seniordog #seniordogs #animalrescue #rescued #shelterdog #shelterdogs #savealife #shelter #rescuedog #dogsofinstagram #rescuedogsofinstagram #adoptdontshop #dog #dogs #dogstagram #rescue #instadog #dogoftheday #doglife #puppy #doglover #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #dogsofinsta #doglovers #rescuedogs #doggo #love #puppylove #muttsofinstagram #puppiesofinstagram #ilovemydog #happydog #adopt #cute #pitbull #mutt #dogsofig #pitbullsofinstagram #socialmediamutts #shelterfacebookdogs #dogmom #petsofinstagram #dogslife #instagram #cutedogs #of #shelterdog #cutedog #dogphotography #doglove #puppies #dogsofinstaworld #pets #rescuepup #pet #mixedbreed #petstagram #dogrescue #instadogs #rescuedogsrock #dontbullymybreed #adoptme #furbaby #hundeliebe #lovedogs #doggy #seniordog #rescueismyfavoritebreed #dogmodel #bruisednotbroken #decompressdoggy #bemyforever #whatisforeverfamily #loveme #shelterpup #shelterpups #eastcoastshelterdogs #eastcoastshelterdog

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)            8-year-old 30lbs Roxy, a Siba / Bali Dog mix was found in the middle of a village road in Bali, Indonesia. She was frantic. Her rescuers could smell rotting flesh and see the telltale marks of a string embedded deep in her neck. It's a common occurrence in Bali where small dogs have a string placed around their neck and they aren't touched again so it is never removed. As they grow the string becomes painfully tight around their neck causing terrible wounds. Roxy would have suffered like that for many years. Roxy was caught and taken to the vet where it was revealed she had just given birth. Her rescuers returned to the 'home' she had been living in - her living conditions were terrible. They discovered her babies had been thrown into the jungle just after their birth. The same had happened to all her other litters. It was too late to save her babies, but it wasn't too late to save Roxy. After a long stint in the vet, Roxy's physical wounds healed in her loving foster home with her foster Mama Roxy's emotional wounds healed too. Roxy is approximately 8 years old, sterilized and vaccinated and she's looking for her forever cuddle person. Roxy is now extremely sassy. She's making up for all that lost time without cuddles and just loves attention. She knows what she likes (walks, bum scratchies, her spot on the couch, cheese, cuddles, sunbathing and Netflix and chill) and she knows what she doesn’t like (being ignored and raw meat). Roxy doesn’t let any of her horrid past stop her special skill - showing everyone her very beautiful smile. She’s good with other dogs and isn't interested in chasing cats.       All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

However, she has never shown any form of aggression or possessiveness when around people. 23. Any past or present health issues? - She was infected with heartworm but was completely cured. No other diseases were found. 24. Rescue story? - Dali was rescued after wandering alone in the downtown area of Seogwipo, Jeju island, South Korea. She was very thin at the time of her first discovery, rather frightened, but she wasn't very wary of people. She was passively chasing after this person and that person as if she wanted someone to rescue her, but when a person showed interest, she ran a little far away and repeatedly distanced herself. At the time of the rescue, I was on my way home after buying a sandwich with my old dog. The wandering dog seemed to need help at a glance, but I had no hand to hold the dog because I held my old dog in one hand and a sandwich in the other. Of course, there was no leash or anything. I moved to the house little by little, saying warm words such as 'Do you want to go to my house' and 'Do you want to eat some food and water?' to the extent that she didn't run away. The dog repeatedly followed me a little bit and then moved away, conflicting between worrying about whether to follow me and wanting to solve hunger and get help. After luring her toward the house for a long time, she finally came very carefully into my door. She drank water as if she hadn't taken a sip of water for days, and she ate feed in a hurry before pouring it into the bowl. It's been a year since I started like that, and now she is doing well both in the house and in the yard, and when people visit my house, she is the first to go out and welcome. But still, when things change a little, she gets scared and hide. It still seems like it will take some time for her to have full faith that the world around her is safe, that no one will harm her, and that only they will love her.
