Age: 9 years old Gender: Male Breed: Shih Tzu mix Weight: 26 lbs Personality: Yuki is wary of strangers but will warm up to people with a bit of chicken and patience on the human's side. Yuki is a mellow guy who loves to nap next to you and lounge in the sun. Yuki is content to sleep the day away near his person but is also up for playing with stuffed animals and fetching! Yuki does well on leash but is quick to warn you that strangers are nearby. He has some barrier frustration, but is generally very easy going once he has warmed up to you. He loves going for car rides and is a great passenger, although drive thru cashiers may be startled at his sudden alerting. Yuki does well with other dogs. He is polite enough to leave old grumpy dogs alone but will play with young energetic pups. He does not resource guard his person, but does show some food guarding tendencies. It would be safest to feed separately. Needs a home with no children or older children who will treat him with respect and give him space as needed. If you have some chicken and just two days of patience, you will be rewarded with so much love. Yuki is an easy dog, he is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on leash. He is generally a gentle, mellow guy with great house manners. He has a case of stranger danger, but can be redirected when he is reacting. Yuki loves hanging out with his human, but does well when left alone. He will sleep until you return and greet you wholeheartedly. Yuki takes a little bit to warm up to his person, but once you earn his trust, you will find that no one else will look at you with as much love in their eyes as Yuki.  Education: Good with bathroom and leash training Favorite Activities: Napping, cuddling, chewing tags and eyeballs off stuffed animals, fetch, sun bathing. He's also extremely dog friendly Looking for: A sweet person or family who can give him space, be patient with him and respect/ advocate for his boundaries while he learns to trust humans. Ideally older and respectful kids are ok, and so are dogs. He is currently taking Prozac (~$5-10 for a month's supply, depending on market value and where purchased) to successfully help manage his anxiety around new people.  Adoption Fee: $ 350 ##1592807##

Story
Sweet and spunky! Hi there! I’m Delfina or Daphne– a sweet and spunky 2.5-year-old Poodle Mix, weighing about 15 pounds. I may be small, but I’ve got a big heart and an even bigger personality! Thanks to the wonderful folks at TAP, I was rescued from an LA shelter just in time. I had a broken jaw when they found me, but don’t worry – it’s all healed up now, and I’m feeling better than ever. Now I’m on the lookout for my perfect furever family! I’m full of energy and love to run, play, and explore. Some of my favorite activities include tug toys and going on walks.  I also adore being the center of attention and hanging out with doggie friends. But when the excitement winds down, I’m just as happy snuggling up with you. I’ll even sleep in your arms all night long without moving a muscle — seriously, I’m the ultimate cuddle bug. I’ve got a silly, lovable personality that’s sure to make you laugh. I’m working hard on my potty training — just a few accidents here and there — and I’m a total pro on the leash. I can be a little territorial around other pups, but I truly enjoy their company and love to play once we’re all friends. That said, I do get scared easily and have a big bark when I’m feeling anxious. I also struggle with separation anxiety, so I’d really thrive in a home where I’m not left alone for long stretches. If I get too lonely, I might rummage through the trash to cope.  But hey, I’m healthy overall and already spayed, so I’m ready to go! My dream home would include kiddos (I LOVE attention!) and maybe a furry sibling or two, as long as we hit it off. I seem to get along with cats just fine, too. More than anything, though, I just want to be part of a loving family who’s ready for a loyal, playful, snuggly companion like me. He’s the perfect balance of playful and laid-back, always ready for playing, but just as happy to relax and cuddle. Gizmo is incredibly friendly and loves meeting other dogs, big or small. His tail starts wagging the moment he sees a new furry friend, and he’s always eager to say hello and make a new playmate. Gizmo will do well with other dogs in the home as long as they are energetic and ready to play. This adorable boy is both potty trained and crate trained. He sleeps peacefully in his crate at night and even enjoys curling up in it for naps during the day while his foster Mom works. Gizmo is ready to bring joy, love, and lots of tail wags to his forever home! We suspect that Gizmo has food allergies so he will need to be on a high quality diet.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and is microchipped.  His adoption fee is $300.  All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies.
