ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Jacks! Jacks is a 13 pound, 6 year old, hypoallergenic Poodle / Maltese mix. Jacks has a bite history and will need an experienced owner who is willing to work with him to build trust. Jacks has been patiently waiting for his forever home since his rescue from the local shelter in April 2022.    He is very loving and affectionate and loves to kiss and nibble noses, ears, and mouths if given the chance. He loves sitting right on your lap, snuggling as close as possible to you. He loves to be touching you, but doesn't love to be touched BY you. He is not a dog that likes touching or petting and will react out of fear and bite hands if provoked. We do not recommend he be around children or people who are unable to understand not to touch him. Don't mistake his fear for aggression, he has never gone after anyone for no reason. All bites were the result of being approached by hands (even with the best intentions). Despite his fear of hands, he does quite well in first encounters with strangers and has never bitten a stranger or the vet.    Jacks is extremely smart, he learned to use "Hunger For Words" talking buttons very quickly to communicate his basic needs such as "dinner", "outside", "play", and "water". He considers his crate as his safe space, where he can go when he's feeling overwhelmed. He walks very well on a leash and can walk at heel. He does great on walks and doesn't react to other dogs, cats, or humans even in busy/loud places. Jacks is very calm and well behaved during the day while his foster parents are working from home, mostly sleeping with a few potty breaks. However, he can be very vocal when he's ready for his evening walk or play time, or when his favorite person leaves the room. He does not like to be left alone and bonds very quickly.    Jacks is very playful and active. He loves to run, hike, and walk. He can go far distances at a fast pace. He does best behaviorally when he gets at least a 30 minute walk per day, although we recommend even more activity if possible. He loves to play with toys including antlers, plush squeaky toys, and other chew toys. He is somewhat treat-motivated and loves going through his tricks such as sit, shake, high five, hold hands, up, lay down, roll over, and even going "over" and "under" hurdles.    Jacks currently lives in a foster home with 2 other dogs. He is very submissive to other pets and has never bitten another animal. He is potty trained, but he may mark in an environment with other dogs if there is a smell of past pee.    He takes anti-anxiety medication Trazodone daily for his anxiety. Plan on getting Jacks groomed every 6-8 weeks. He has a special sedating medicine that can be used, and we can recommend a groomer in San Diego who is familiar with his needs.    With a lot of love and dedication, Jack will make the perfect dog for the right family. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  May 7, 2024, 8:21 pm

Due to high volume of calls; NO PHONE calls are accepted at this time - therefore, please text us or email us.- A minute of conscious - Please read:) We ask you Please to be SERIOUS adopters; as there have been so many people that are not ready. We set up meet & greet appointments, do a home visit or send them the address for some meet & greet locations, paperwork and suddenly they said they are not ready or spouse is not ready, etc. These fur kids have a very hard day the day of their appointment. Due to travelling we hold their food, so they won't get car sick. We bath them, some of them are schedule for grooming as you know it is stressful for them; then they have to travel with us picking up other rescued fur kids, and so on, it is a very stressful hard day for them for people to just cancel at last minute or not show up or do show up and just say they are not ready. Our time as well as your time is valuable. Please don't waste valuable time that is so precious for a rescued pet. Every single wasted time is a time that an animal will die because we didn't get to them on time to help them. In addition, of wasting gas and grooming fees which are paid by volunteers. Please take the time to put your shoes in the shoes of the volunteer and most of it to put your shoes on our rescued fur kids!! Please take a minute to tell yourself if you are ready to adopt and for this commitment. LIVE!! LOVE!! LAUGH!! ADOPT A RESCUED HOMELESS PET AND SAVE A LIFE!!

Story
Rocky is a 4 year old mini-poodle who is very calm and quiet. He enjoys 2-3 walks a day, and loves to sleep in his bed. His favorite treats are lettuce/carrot/blueberry/banana. We don’t give him commercial food or treats with fillers, his stomach doesn’t tolerate raw meat well either. He eats grain free kibble. He grows his fur really well and it’s sort, can be trimmed round and he is very easy to bathe too. His teeth were recently cleaned and up to date on all shots. Never bites or barks. Very obedient.

Story
Paloma was found in the streets of Los Angeles. She had a few minor injuries that she has already recovered from. Paloma is about 1 year old female poodle/maltese mix. She weights 15 lbs. She may get to 20 lbs max when she is fully grown. She is spayed and her shots are up to date. Her blood work came back clean. She is in great healt! Paloma is a smart and friendly girl. In just a few weeks, she learned to use the pee pee pads, to walk on the leash, and to wait until she is walked to go potty. She sleeps in her own bed throughout the night. She gets along with my three dogs. I have taken her to hang out with family and friends, and she loves EVERYONE. Paloma enjoys playing with other small dogs and kids. I have not introduced her to large dogs or cats, but I think she will be fine with both. She loves chewing on toys. She is not destructive, but she has stolen a few socks to play with them. Asking for a $250 rehoming fee to help me cover her sterilization and vet bills.

Story
*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Bobby! When 8-year-old Bobby's owner brought him to All God's Creatures Animal Hospital in El Cajon to be euthanized, the veterinary staff did not agree with the request. Instead, they persuaded the owner to relinquish Bobby so they could find a new home for him. Bobby currently lives with a Foster family, and they report he is very well-behaved in their home. He is potty trained and a good eater. Bobby would do best in a home without young children. Bobby is on phenobarbital for a history of seizures, and he is doing very well on this medication. Happily, Bobby's seizures are under control, and he is ready for the rest of his life to begin! His Foster Mom shares: "Bobby is such a sweet, happy-go-lucky-boy and just wants to be loved. He would be so loyal to his family." If you are looking for a loving, fun, and playful best friend, please consider Bobby! To adopt or learn more about Bobby, please call or text Bethany at 619-504-1453. You may also contact All God's Creatures Animal Hospital by phone at 619-489-3339 or email: Frontdesk@vettechna.com *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
Meet Phillip! Phillip entered Los Angeles Animal Services - Chesterfield Square as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on March 5th to become a Frosted Face. He is 13 years old, weighs 15 lbs., and is a sweet little guy. Phillip feels like a new man after a much- needed grooming! Phillip was the perfect companion on a solo outing with a volunteer to Del Mar dog beach and a restaurant. She reported afterwards: "Phillip did spectacular on our adventure! He road great in the car and even took a nice nap on the drive back to FFF. At the beach, he was greeted by many dogs of all sizes, and he did amazing. He was very unbothered by the little dogs let them sniff all over him and just kept walking like they didn't exist. At the restaurant, Phillip was an angel and happy to meet everyone who stopped to say hi. Throughout the day, he walked great on leash, never tugging, and stopping whenever I did." Phillip went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home. We received a great report from his Fling Mom: "As Phillip's fling comes to an end, here is what I have learned about this sweet, loyal boy: * Phillip loves his people! He is so excited to see me everyday. He follows me from room to room and lays at my feet wherever I am. He loves to cuddle and gives kisses. It's clear that he will be a loyal companion. * He has no separation anxiety. * He walks and navigates stairs incredibly well. At only 15 pounds, he is also easy to carry. * He is potty trained. No accidents or marking in the house have occurred. * He is excited to go on multiple walks everyday and loves to meet people. He is an around the block walker rather than a 1-2 mile walker. * He cannot hear very well, so he doesn't respond to my voice. I have found that he responds well when touched. * He can see quite well and is very alert. He watches TV with me! * He enjoys riding in the car and loves looking out the window. He also likes being picked up for loading into the car. * He has barked very little during his time with me - the only time has been at his reflection in the mirror. This has been corrected easily and has lessened in frequency as he grows more comfortable. * He tends to pace in unfamiliar areas, which is quite understandable in a new environment. He has become much more relaxed in my apartment as time has progressed. When this pacing occurred, my presence seemed to soothe him. * Despite this initial pacing, he always slept peacefully through the night on the floor by my bed. Phillip will be such a loyal companion to his new forever family. He will thrive in an environment where he can be around his people. He has so much love to give." Be sure to watch the video of Phillip's adorable happy dance! Phillip is ready for his forever home. Come meet him this Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 1:00 during Open House!
