Hey friends, it’s me Curtis! I’m a 10-year-old, 10 lb Shih Tzu mix boy with a heart full of love and a zest for life! Here’s my story! I found myself at a local shelter, but Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue scooped me up, got me fixed up, and now I’m ready for my forever home! I’m a super sweet guy who gets along great with both dogs and cats—the more the merrier! I’m housebroken, did great in a crate, and I love going for walks. Honestly, I’d prefer to be outside enjoying the fresh air as much as possible because there’s just something magical about being outdoors! At night, I sleep on my dog bed right beside my human because being close to you is where I feel most at home. I can be cuddly sometimes, and I’m gentle and easygoing. I have no teeth, so treats really aren’t my thing. But don’t worry—I’m a great eater and I love my wet food watered down into a nice, easy-to-eat meal! I’m probably good with older, dog-savvy kids who understand how to be gentle with a sweet senior like me. Speaking of being a senior—adopting a senior dog like me means you get all the love without the puppy chaos! Everyone say hi to Arfie, a 6 year old 28 lb shih tzu boy. Yes you read that right, Arfie weighs 28 lbs and is in need of a home that will take him on walks and give him the opportunity to shed some much needed pounds---with that said this little boy is an " absolute gentleman" according to his foster mom. Arfie came to us after his elderly owner was unable to care for him longer due to her own personal issues----Arfie has come a long way from intake when he was all of 39lbs!!! He just wants to please everyone, has excellent house manners and deserves a chance at a great life in a loving home. He gets along with EVERYONE and is a soft and kind hearted soul....he has yet to meet a person he doesn't wag his little tail at and asks to say hello to. Arfie has a history of seizures and is on medication where it controlled now that he has been seen and treated for it by our veterinary team. He also is allergic to chicken and chicken by-products but is doing great on a diet of salmon and sweet potato kibble which is sold over the counter. Copito is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu with a strong, expressive personality. He is loving and loyal, and does best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long periods. When alone too long, he can become anxious (crying/scratching doors). He is very attached to his family and especially bonded to my wife. He follows you everywhere, makes eye contact, and likes sleeping close to us. He is house-trained and goes outside for walks every morning and evening. Like many small dogs, Copito can be territorial. He loves toys and will bring them to you; he may growl or nip if you try to take a toy away—more like intense play/guarding than true aggression. He has never bitten or shown aggression toward strangers. He loves wearing his walking vest, enjoys toys, and thrives as an emotional companion. Best match: a calm adult or couple who can offer time, affection, and stability. He responds to basic commands in Spanish and English (mostly Spanish at home).

My adoption fee is more than most other puppies and dogs at my rescue, but I'm told that I'm a more 'desirable' puppy than my other friends who are not as fortunate and will be at the rescue much longer than me, waiting for their forever home. Hello- my name is Emma! I was found dumped on the streets. I was in ruff condition and very scared, but over the past several months I've been in a wonderful foster home where I have learned to trust humans and came out of my shell. My foster parents say: ‘Emma has become a cuddly sweetheart who loves being with people. She can be very shy with strangers so we recommend having a baby gate across outside doorways until she is settled and comfortable. She gets along great with other dogs and even cats. She rarely barks, except when playing and she gets excited. She is housetrained as well as pee pad trained.”My rescue thinks I am a havanese/ shih tzu mix and about 4-5 yrs old and last weighed in at just under 15 lbs. I have received all of the general and medical care I needed to be ready for a forever home. My one lingering issue is that I tested heartworm-positive and am currently undergoing treatment using the "slow kill" method, which will have to be continued by my adopters by administering oral meds. My rescue will cover the expenses for those medications and retesting until I test negative, which will happen in due time. My $450 adoption fee includes vet check, up to date vaccines, spay, heartworm meds until negative test result, microchip and deworming, all already done.
