Meet Mindy, an adorable 9 year old,11 lb, cream colored Shih Tzu girl. She is a sweet soul who enjoys being outside in her fenced backyard, car rides, belly rubs, playing with toys and her K9 foster siblings. Even though Mindy can have her spurts of energy, her goal in life is to be your sidekick and fellow “couch potato”. She is a retired breeding kennel mamma, and like most of these pups, she needs a quiet home, and another dog to continue to learn from and help her adjust to her new life. She is house trained and leash trained (she loves walks), but she has not been able to manage stairs. She would need a one level home or someone who will be able to carry her up and down stairs as needed. Mindy loves her humans but is slow to warm up to new people. They came from different environments, and bonded in their foster home. Daisy is from a hoarding situation in New England and Teddy from a small breeder in the South. Daisy has come a long way from the shy, nervous girl she was in the beginning. She loves to walk on a leash and is a more of a one person girl. Teddy is funny because he appears to be standoffish, as if he is not interested in humans, but he is actually fearful of new people. He has just now started to solicit attention from his foster parents. But, watching them play together is joyful. They love to tough and tumble. Charlie is solid black and weighs 10 lbs, Levi is grey, with a white chest, and weighs 12 lbs. Their favorite activities are snuggling on their foster mom’s lap and playing with the other dogs in their foster home. Levi and Charlie get along with everyone – people of all ages, dogs of all sizes, and even cats! They are both loving, loyal, and affectionate. They are well behaved (even when being groomed) and bark only when visitors arrive. Levi is missing one eye, but that doesn’t stop him! He sees okay and gets around the house and outside just fine. Looking for a family who can show him love and give him the plenty of time to learn how life is supposed to be. He's super sweet and trying hard to trust. He will literally stiffen & freeze as he's so scared when handled but if he's with other dogs, he will follow them into the kitchen to see what you're delving out & to be sure to get his bite (he's been in the foster home for almost 2 weeks when he started showing this behavior). Great with other dogs, cats unknown and older children 12+ only because she is skittish. He is not housetrained (although when you open the slider & walk out, he will come behind you & go do his business as long as you don't turn towards him or call his name), has not walked on a leash yet or comfortable being handled but he needs to be cuddled (which means you need to know how to calmly corner a pup & slowly bend down to pick them up). This precious little boy needs to know he matters. Other socialized dog/s in a home would be perfect for him to watch and learn as he absolutely loves to play with them when he gets more comfortable in the home (& thinks you're not watching).
