Story
Romeo, Romeo, where art thou, Romeo? If you're searching for a handsome little guy to steal your heart, look no further! Romeo is a neutered male Shih Tzu with a sweet disposition to match his charming name. Romeo has a few health needs that require special care. He has allergies, which are managed with daily medication and a vegetarian diet. Since starting this routine, his skin has greatly improved, and we've even been able to reduce the frequency of his medicated baths. Romeo also has dry eye and will need daily eye drops long-term to keep him comfortable. This sweet boy enjoys walks, making friends with calm dogs, and sharing quality cuddle time. Once he's had his exercise, Romeo's ideal afternoon involves lounging on the couch next to his favorite human. Romeo needs a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. He requires a muzzle for applying topical medications until a bond of trust is established. With consistent, gentle care, Romeo will flourish into the loving companion he's meant to be. Romeo is looking for a dedicated and peaceful home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love and comfort. Could that be with you? Romeo has a few health needs that require special care. Story
April is a 7-9 year old Shih Tzu weighing 12 pounds.  She came to us as a puppy mill survivor and is ready for the next and final journey in her quest for a forever home. April came into the rescue with a huge bladder stone causing her an immense amount of pain and discomfort.  The rescue got her into see a vet immediately and surgery was performed to remove the stone and spayed her at the same time.  She got better and has transformed into a very energetic and affectionate companion. Although she is still skittish and runs away from her foster mom, you can tell that she wants to trust.  Her tail is always wagging.  April will need leash training as she has not had any experience walking with one. Her housetraining needs on going support. She would do best in a home with a yard. She has been introduced to a few dogs and is quite friendly towards them.  She is extremely interested in the resident cat, a lot more interested than the cat is in her.  She may be a bit too intense for a cat. She likes to chew on her toys and doesn’t know the difference between her toys and a pair of reading glasses, so it would be advised to keep these things out of her reach. April is on a special diet to prevent stones from re-occurring and has to have drops in her eyes daily. She is pretty good at getting her eye drops put in. Story
Hello! My name is Jesse!I`m a sensitive little guy who has been through a lot in my life. I don`t love strangers touching me and I do best with humans who can read my body language well to know when I`m not happy about something. If I am uncomfortable, I may give a little snap to let you know. For this reason, I`m looking for humans who have dog experience and will use a patient and respectful approach in caring for me. Once I feel safe with you, I am quite affectionate and like to snuggle and get pets. I am friendly with other small dogs and have lived with a cat before. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, adult only given sensitive nature.OTHER DOGS: Yes, small, friendly and even a bit playful should be good.CATS: Yes. I`ve lived with cats before.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I am looking for humans who have dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Not necessary.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessary.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low-medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Mostly! Story
Bella is a sweet shih tzu mix who weighs approximately 20 pounds and is estimated at 10 years young. She came into the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her She bonds with her person quickly and will follow you around the house. She likes her walks and pulls a bit when she sees other dogs so she can greet them. She is great with other dogs. In the house she is low maintenance. Sleeps in her bed or by your feet. Bella is completely housetrained and lets you know when she needs to go out. She sleeps in her bed, on the floor, the whole night and is not an early riser. Only barks when someone comes to the door and into the house but settles quickly once she is assured there is no danger. Bella would make a lovely companion for an older person or couple who want unconditional love without all the high energy and needs of a younger dog.  She's not the best car traveller but when we transported her, she was in a crate and didn't seem to too bad (maybe because she couldn't see the motion)  She is a lovely girl and was just groomed.  Good marks from the groomer  Here is the link to our adoption application: https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/dog-adoption-application-2/  June 3, 2026, 3:13 pm
