Koro is pending adoption Nyx and Zita are still patiently waiting for homes of their own! We have a transport leaving on April 26th 2026 (possibly sooner) from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add our sweet pups to our trip for the right families 😊 Koro, Nyx & Zita 🩵 Born 11/21/2025 These three little ones came into our lives in a way that wasn’t planned, but ended up exactly where they were meant to be. Koro, Nyx, and Zita are part of the second litter that joined our home after an unexpected situation for their previous family. They had two female Shih Tzus, both of which were already scheduled to be spayed. But before those appointments could take place, both girls went into heat, and their male slipped in and did what boys do… resulting in two surprise litters just days apart. Their family loved them deeply and did such a beautiful job caring for them during those early weeks. These babies were never without love, attention, or care. But they also knew that raising and placing six puppies responsibly is a lot, and they wanted to make sure each one had the best possible future. That’s when they reached out to us to step in and continue their journey. From the moment they arrived, they became part of our home, our routine, and our everyday life. They have not been raised in a kennel setting. They have been underfoot, in our arms, learning structure, routine, and how to be little companions from the very beginning. That allows us to truly know them, not just care for them. We were told at the time of surrender that their mama is an Imperial Shih Tzu and their dad is a traditional Shih Tzu. As they’ve been growing and their features are starting to come in more, I do think there’s a possibility they could have a mix somewhere in there. I could be completely wrong, but I always like to share what I’m seeing as they mature just to be fully transparent. Either way, they are absolutely precious and going to make incredible little companions. They are expected to stay on the smaller side, but what they lack in size, they more than make up for in personality. Each one of them is so different in the most special way. Koro is my little gentle soul. He has such a soft, loving way about him and really leans into his people. He enjoys playing, but what he truly loves is being close… whether that’s sitting in your lap, being held, or just laying beside you quietly. He has a calming presence to him that makes you just want to hold him a little longer. Nyx is such a beautiful balance of everything. She’s curious, playful, and confident, but still has that sweet, snuggly side that makes her so easy to fall in love with. She enjoys exploring, playing with toys, and interacting with everyone around her, but when she’s ready to settle, she melts right into you. Zita has really started to show a different side of herself as she’s been maturing. While she still has that little spark, she has such a calm, gentle spirit to her. She is the kind of girl who will lay there quietly just watching the world around her, taking everything in so she doesn’t miss a thing. She has a very soft presence and such a quiet sweetness about her that just pulls you in 💕 All three of them are extremely social and have been raised in constant interaction, so they are very comfortable being handled, loved on, and included in everyday life. They love playing together, but they also do just fine entertaining themselves with toys and settling independently when needed. They are already learning structure and routine and are doing really well with it. They currently know “stay” and are working on “sit,” especially when treats are involved. They are smart, eager, and very capable of continuing to learn with the right guidance. They have really come a long way with their pad training as well. They are no longer playing with them, ripping them up, or dragging them into their beds like they once thought was so fun. They’ve truly learned the difference now and are using them appropriately, which is such a big step for little ones their age. All of the puppies are sleeping in a crate at night and are doing beautifully with it. They settle in easily and sleep peacefully through the night without any issues. They travel beautifully and enjoy going along for rides, which makes them such easy little companions for everyday life. Leash training will begin in their adoptive homes, as we chose to wait until their vaccines were completed before introducing them to shared outdoor spaces. All of their veterinary care has been completed through our vet. They have received four rounds of DA2PP vaccinations, their first Bordetella vaccine, their one year rabies vaccine, have been microchipped, and have been thoroughly examined and cleared. They will go home with individual health certificates confirming healthy exams. A fecal test was completed and came back showing one type of parasite, which they are currently being treated for through our vet so they go home cleared and healthy. Because of their age, they will go home on a spay and neuter contract. We prefer allowing puppies the time to grow and fully develop before undergoing those procedures, as it can support healthier growth overall. Their adopters will agree to have them altered at an appropriate age recommended by their veterinarian. A portion of their adoption fees has also gone toward ensuring both parents have now been spayed and neutered, so their previous family will never experience another accidental litter again. Their adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of their adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/koro-nyx-zita This includes all of their veterinary care, including their deworming through our vet, their vaccines, microchips and registration, health certificates, as well as the weeks of hands on care, training, grooming, socialization, and love they have received while being raised in our home. As with all of our dogs, their adoption fees also help us continue rescuing and caring for the next ones who need us. These are not just tiny puppies… they are little souls who have been loved, nurtured, and prepared for the next chapter of their lives. They will thrive in homes where they can be part of your everyday life… following you from room to room, curling up beside you, riding along with you, and simply being with you. We are not looking for just any home for them. We are waiting for the right ones. If one of these little ones feels like they might be yours, we would love to hear from you ❤️

We have a transport leaving on April 26th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add our handsome boy to our trip for the right family 💕 Ozzy is proof that the tiniest souls can leave the biggest impressions. Born 2/22/24, this precious Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix weighs just above 4½ pounds full grown and is naturally petite in every way. With a Shih Tzu mama and Yorkie daddy, Ozzy is a perfect blend of sweetness, loyalty, and charm wrapped into one adorable little companion. Ozzy has an endearing sparkle to him. While calm and gentle like his brother, he has a slightly more inquisitive nature that makes him so fun to watch. He notices everything, takes in the world around him, and seems genuinely interested in being part of whatever life is happening around him. He is not wild or busy, just beautifully engaged in the sweetest little way. His previous owner loved him deeply, but with a demanding work schedule, she knew Ozzy deserved more companionship than she could provide. She recognized how much he thrives in the presence of his person and wanted him to have a life where he felt included, cherished, and no longer left waiting for someone to come home. It was a heartbreaking but loving decision made entirely for him. Ozzy is calm, easygoing, and wonderfully adaptable. He is not a barker. He is more of an observer who would happily sit beside you and quietly watch the world go by. Whether it is relaxing at home, joining you on errands, or sitting together at the park, Ozzy just wants to be part of your day. Because of his tiny size, Ozzy does need to be accompanied outside for potty breaks due to wildlife concerns. He depends on his people to safely take him out throughout the day. He also understands puppy pads if that is preferred in his next home. He is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night, though if it were up to him, he would much rather be close to his person in bed or curled nearby in his own cozy bed. Leash walking was never really introduced before coming to us, so that can be learned in his next home if desired. Thankfully, Ozzy’s tiny size makes him incredibly easy to bring along anywhere in a sling, carrier, stroller, or lovingly tucked into your arms. Ozzy is wonderful with other dogs, cats, men, women, and children alike. He is gentle and social without being overwhelming. He also does beautifully at the groomers and is an absolute angel on the table. Car rides and road trips are something he has already shown he enjoys. Ozzy would be perfect for someone wanting a tiny best friend with a peaceful heart and a curious little spirit. He is the kind of dog who will make everyday moments feel sweeter simply because he is there. His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_ozzy This includes his neuter, dental cleaning and polish, vaccines, microchip, and a thorough exam with our vet. It also helps cover the months of care, training, grooming, and love invested into him while in rescue. Ozzy is freshly groomed and ready to meet the person he has been waiting for.

Story
Kenji and Bodhi are pending adoption with wonderful families🩵 We have a transport leaving on April 26th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add our sweet pups to our trip for the right families 😊 Yogi found a wonderful home 🩵 And while my heart is so happy for him, it just makes me want the same even more for his brothers. Kenji and Bodhi are still here with us, still waiting, still loving life, and still hoping their families are out there 🩵🩵 These boys have grown so much over the past few weeks, not just in size but in who they are becoming. They’ve definitely filled out since their last weights, each gaining about a pound, and their personalities have really started to shine in the sweetest ways. They are now sleeping through the night in their crates without a single accident, which I’m so proud of them for. It’s become part of their routine and they settle in so peacefully at bedtime. Their house training is coming along beautifully too. With a consistent schedule in their next home, taking them out every couple of hours, they are going to continue to thrive. They truly want to do the right thing, and it shows. Kenji… my little love. He is still my sweetheart through and through. He will sit there and just look up at me like he’s asking without saying a word until I pick him up. And once I do, he melts completely. He could stay in my arms for hours if I let him, just soaking in every bit of love. There is something so gentle and pure about him, he just wants to be close to his person. Bodhi is my little dreamer. He has this carefree, peaceful way about him that I just adore. You’ll often find him sitting quietly, looking outside, watching the birds like he’s imagining all the adventures he’ll one day have. He’s not high energy at all, but he loves to play and always wants to be part of whatever is going on. He’s that perfect balance, present, curious, and just happy to be included. Both boys are incredibly affectionate, social, and easy to have in the home. They’ve been raised in a loving environment where they’re constantly interacted with, and it shows in how comfortable and trusting they are. They are crate trained and sleeping through the night beautifully. They are doing amazing with house training when kept on a routine. They are comfortable being held, handled, and loved on. They are playful without being overly energetic. They are just genuinely happy little souls. They are at that really special stage where their personalities are blossoming, their confidence is growing, and their bond with their person is going to become everything. As much as they love each other, we’ve seen how much more they open up individually when they’re on their own. That’s why we are looking for separate homes for them, so each of them gets the chance to fully become someone’s whole world. Their story started with a family who loved them very much but knew they needed help placing them responsibly. Since coming into our home, they’ve been raised right alongside our family, loved on, worked with, and truly known. They are not just puppies to us, and I think you can feel that. At the end of the day, I’m not just looking for a home, I’m looking for their home. The one where Kenji gets to be someone’s little shadow, and Bodhi gets to sit and watch the world with his person by his side. If you feel that connection, I would truly love to talk with you 💞 Their adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of their adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/yogi-bodhi-kenji I know that can sometimes feel like a lot at first glance, so I always like to share what goes into that, not just in terms of veterinary care but the time, love, and intention behind raising them the way we do. Each of these boys has received 4 rounds of DA2PP vaccinations Bordetella vaccine Rabies vaccine Microchip with registration A full veterinary exam and clearance Fecal testing and deworming through our vet Beyond that, their fee also helps cover the past couple of months they’ve spent here with us, being raised inside our home, not in kennels. That means constant interaction, socialization, structure, and love every single day. They’ve been worked with on crate training, house training, routine, and learning how to just be part of a home, which makes such a difference when they transition into their forever families. It also allows us to continue doing what we do, taking in dogs who need us, stepping in when families are overwhelmed, and making sure every dog that comes through here is given the same level of care and chance at a beautiful life 🩵

Story
Pending adoption We have a transport leaving on April 26th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add our sweet girl to our trip for the right family 💕 Lucy has the sweetest, most gentle presence about her. She’s the kind of girl you don’t just notice right away with big energy, but the kind that slowly finds her way into your heart and settles there so deeply you can’t imagine life without her. At just over 11 pounds, she is full grown and at a beautiful, healthy weight, a Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix with a soft, low-shedding coat that makes her not only beautiful, but so easy to have in the home as well. She’s a perfectly petite little companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her person. Her little bunny tail, which was docked prior to coming to us, is truly one of her cutest features. It looks to have been professionally done, and when she’s happy, those tiny little wiggles make it impossible not to smile. It’s such a small detail, but it adds so much to her charm and sweetness. Lucy came to us after her previous owner passed away, so we don’t have much history on her prior life beyond what we’ve been able to learn through our time with her and our vet’s assessment. What we do know is that she was deeply bonded to her person, and you can still feel that in her. She carries a quiet kind of love, the kind that is just waiting for somewhere safe to land again. She is spayed, current on all of her vaccines, microchipped, and has had a full dental cleaning and polish done. She received a thorough exam with our vet and has been fully cleared to find a home of her own. Lucy does well with other dogs, but she is still building her confidence when meeting new ones. She isn’t the type to run up and instantly make friends, and that’s okay. We believe, especially with how young she is, that she simply didn’t have much opportunity for socialization while her previous owner was ill. But she is so gentle, so willing, and still so young that she absolutely has the ability to grow, flourish, and learn that the world is full of friends who will meet her at her pace. She doesn’t need a home with other dogs, but she can absolutely coexist beautifully with them given a little time and patience. She is crate trained and sleeps well in her crate, but she is very adaptable and would do just as well transitioning to a bed of her own or cuddled up beside you if that’s what you prefer. Leash training is still new for her, but she is doing so well with it. She just needs a little patience and a lot of grace as she builds her confidence exploring the world outside of her home. Once she feels safe, you can see her curiosity begin to come through, and it’s such a beautiful thing to watch. Lucy is wonderful with the groomer and truly enjoys that one-on-one time being pampered and doted on. She is not high energy, even for her age, and is much more content simply being near her person. She will lay close by, follow you from room to room, and just quietly exist beside you in the most comforting way. Right now, you can feel that she is still processing the loss of her person, but there is so much light in her. I truly believe that once she is settled into a home where she feels safe and loved again, that joy will come rushing back and she will absolutely blossom. She is going to shine so beautifully for the person who gives her that chance. She is not a barker, and while she may occasionally alert you to something unfamiliar, she mostly looks to you for reassurance and will stay close by your side. She does amazing on car rides and is happy to join you on any adventure, big or small. Lucy loves people and warms up especially quickly when she’s being held and comforted. There is something so special about the way she leans into you once she trusts you, like she’s been waiting for that connection again. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_lucy-2 This helps cover all of the veterinary care she has received, along with the time, love, grooming, and training that has gone into helping her get to where she is today.
