Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ruby Goose is a healthy, 6 year-old, 8 pound Shih Tzu who loves to cuddle with her people on her terms. Her favorite people are the men of the house! She loves to play with soft small toys, and recently started playing with balls that are the size of her head! While she is content to curl up on her bed, she also loves to go for walks and car rides. Ruby can be described as a sour patch kid, sweet and sour, but generally is a sweet, loving pup who expects cuddles and as many belly rubs as you will give (and then some!) She will need a forever home with someone who has a regular schedule, preferably either works from home, is home more often than not, or can often take her with them. Ruby will have separation anxiety at first, but the more comfortable she is in her new home, the more she relaxes. At night, you can expect she will want to cuddle with you in bed. She loves to sleep on top of her people, but is good sleeping alongside someone also. She will stay on the bed until you wake up, then greet you with a million tail wags, face licks and small barks. At the moment, she should not live with small children as she can resource guard, and does not like being picked up unless on her terms. She also DESPISES cats so no kitty friends in her new home. Ruby loves to play with other dogs she is familiar with, however, this should be under human supervision due to her resource guarding. She tends to prefer other naughty dogs to be her friend as those are the ones she chooses to be her best friend. Her foster sister is patient with her, but not fond of her ‘tude and often will not engage in playtime with her if Ruby is having a moment. But they do play together, have fun times chasing each other, and have their zoomies together. Ruby likes to bark. She is quite the protector, but she quiets with a soft “shhhh”! She sometimes is a paradox, having a typical Shih Tzu “joking’ attitude, then other times she aggressively plays, swinging toys into the air, pushing them against the couch, or engaging in a friendly tug ‘o war with her person(s). It is delightful and surprising when she randomly - and very selectively - chooses a toy and engages in play gleefully snorkeling like only a Shih Tzu does. You may gasp or laugh when you hear her deep play noises, as they are coming out of such a small babe, but you can tell she is having fun. She loves to chase after thrown toys, but she may or may not bring them back! Sassy should be her middle name! Ruby will become frightened when being picked up, and reactively snip. Her human(s) will need to continue positive reinforcement training; this will help her be more comfortable with people-initiated interactions. She is very receptive to this training, and made incremental positive change in a short time. She is working on basic commands, but already knows paw, sit, and stay. She is such a smart girl! Ruby is potty trained to conduct her business transactions outside and on pads, and is a very good girl during bath time. She is leash trained, and enjoys adventures around the town. She may be small and needs stairs to reach the top of high beds, but she is quite the jumper! You will be amazed at the agility she possesses if she wants to move between furniture, she can jump and glide with the ease of a….cat! Ruby would like you to know that it is important she has access to a secured yard or at least someone who lets her outside throughout the day for walks, playtime, or afternoon sunbathing. She loves treats, but should have portion control as she came to the rescue above weight for her sturdy but small frame. Ruby is loyal and provides unconditional love. She is looking for someone to be her best friend forever. Are you that person? To adopt Ruby Goose, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, spay, and all the love you can handle! Story
B is for BERT, our newest Sesame Street friend. Bert was found matted, in pain, and sad (photo in comments), and was so grateful to get groomed and cleaned up. Bert is a 1.5 yr old, 8.5 lb Shihtzu Mix. He is dog friendly, though cats are unknown. True to Bert form, he needs time to warm up but will be a devoted best friend. Due to this side, we are looking for older, calmer kids. Bert is house and crate trained. He enjoys being held and LOVES peanut butter. He is current with vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. When asked if he minds waiting in foster care until his family applies, he of course replied “Yes, I do mind”. So apply fast!! Apply today at  www.pack9rescue.org  so you’ll be ready once Bert becomes available or proactively request your meet and greet if already pre-approved! Story
Hello, My name is Toby and I'm a 4.5 y/o Shih-Poo, weighing in at 22lbs. I came to Zoe's House Rescue when my family needed to surrender me due to no fault of my own. I've been hanging out with my awesome foster family for a while so I could get neutered, up to date with vaccines and so they could get to know my personality in order to help me find my perfect forever home! My foster Mom says I'm a very happy boy! I get along with everyone I meet. I've lived with all ages of children, infant to teens, and I just love being around them especially when they play with me. I've met lots of dogs in the neighborhood and we have become great friends but my most ideal home will be one where I'm the only pup so I can get all the attention! I enjoy going for walks, playing fetch and when it's time to settle down, I love jumping on the couch and snuggling up on your lap. I spend the night in my crate but I do protest for a bit before settling down. I'd much rather sleep in your bed. I'm fully housebroken but I've heard that there is a possibility of regression in a new home with a new schedule. I do not require a yard with a fence as long as you can promise to take me on walks so I can get my exercise. Since I don't shed, I do need to be taken to be groomed approximately every 6 weeks. I'm being fostered in Blandon, PA so selected adopters may need to travel here to meet me. Do you think I could become a part of your family? If so, please apply on the Zoe's House website: www.zoeshouserescue.com Kennel License #9117 PO Box 2372 Reading, PA 19608

Story
Meet Brody! Brody is a ridiculously adorable 1-2 year old mixed breed dood (see DNA test results) who came to us by way of ACCT Philly. Blows our mind, he was found as a stray and never reclaimed. Brody was very fearful in the shelter - he wasn't aggressive at all, just very, very scared (who can blame him?). Since being in foster care, Brody has proven himself to be the funnest, sweetest, snuggliest, most lovable little boy. Imagine your favorite childhood teddy bear come to life! We don't know what happened in Brody's past but he can still be nervous at times, especially when meeting new people and occasionally when he sees a strange dog on leash outside. He's definitely more confident in the company of his canine foster sibs. Brody spent some time with one of our trainers to work on his confidence and stranger danger and did amazingly well! He would benefit from continued training with his family. Brody is smart, treat motivated, and great at entertaining himself. He's happy to keep himself busy with a few toys or bones. Although not a requirement for the right family, Brody loves running around and spending time outside - he would love a fenced in yard. Brody Boy lives peacefully with and adores his foster siblings, 2 small bichons and a big pittie. He plays great with everyone and has even been ok with a dog savvy cat. Brody is great with kids but because of his nervous tendencies at times, we're suggesting children 12 and older. Brody is UTD on vaccines, crate trained, housebroken (although regression is common with a change of environment), neutered, chipped, on preventatives and ready to love you. If you have another confident and playful pup and think Brody would be a good addition to your family, please apply only on our website zoeshouserescue.com. *Please note: Brody is being fostered in Levittown, PA. A separate meet and greet with potential adopters and all resident pets is required prior to final approval. Kennel #9117 PO Box 2372 Reading, PA 19608
